Heater blower switch fix on a Nissan micra

- Just a little video to show how easy it is fix a heater switch which is only working on one or two settings. This was carried out on a Nissan Micra K12. The switch and resistor pack setup is very similar on many different cars. The difficulty is locating the pack. The glove box needs to be removed, but this is an easy job as you will see.
I created this video with the UA-cam Video Editor ( / editor )
Gordon that was exceptionally helpful and I really appreciate it thank you! Dealer quoted me £120 to fix this, I bought a new part from eBay for £19.99 and followed your guide to the letter and the jobs a goodun: couldn't make it through the winter with the blower the way it was. Really helpful and appreciated! Russell from Fife
Thanks. Very useful. Take into account that for LHD cars, the control unit remains in the left side, so, you have to access from the steering wheel side.
Regards,
Brilliant. Clear, to the point and helpful. Many thanks.
If you need to do this job on a K11 Micra as I did this video is very useful however you do not need to take off any panelling to access the 'resistor pack'. It is located almost in plain view under the 'passenger' footwell next to the heater motor. Two 8mm bolts hold it in place, undoe them slide the old pack out, unclip the wires (press the plastic retainer down as you do), replace with the new one. Brand new ones cost about £12 from ebay, they are almost exactly half as long as the original but this worked perfectly in mine even though I was dubious as it didn't have the same depth/length as the original. Thanks very much to bunnybr for the above vid, great if you have to get the glove box out for other jobs on a k11 as they have the same hinges. Hope this post helps a few of you with the older Micra's.
+Guitarpaul's Music Many Thanks for your added value input.
Brilliant, I looked here first, assuming it'd be somewhat similar. And you've pretty much finished up all that was left to know. Thank you very much!
Guitarpaul's Music What is the thing you need to replace the old one?
If I understand your question the 'thing' is a 'resistor pack' for the heater on a Micra.
Thanks
Awesome vid my one the ac ons automatiacally when heat setting is on no1 any fixes would help thanks
Hi, great video
How to find and change the fuel filter?
Thanks.
none of the settings are working for me, not 1/2/3/4 or hot or cold, none are working. Does anyone know if this will still solve the problem? :) thank you
I got nissian micra and the interior fan stopped work on all speeds any ideas.
it will be the fan itself most probably, I had the same issue, now resolved following a couple of hours work and 15 quid for a second hand fan
have this problem too, i change the resistor pack and it didnt work, , was driving home over speed bumps on the road with the fan at the on position and it came on again, sadly this didnt last and next time i started the car it didnt work again, making me believe it could be a bad wiring connection, any ideas people???
Does this car having Air Condition??
thx 4 the video.
This didn't work for me :( the blower stopped working all together. Must be the fan it's self. Cheers for the vid though
Check the fuse. If you take the fan out you could check it is working by applying 12v to the input and see if it turns on. Just remember there is a bit of a kick when it starts and watch your fingers. You can also check for 12v to the fan.
+bunnybr cheers I have checked the fuse seem to be fine. might be a loose connection. This problem started a few days after I fitted a ne stereo. :)
it don't work it work sometimes and then it doesn't work at all
My micra k12 has the following problem, it works also at 0, but at low speed. Is the resistor faulty? Or do i need to look somewhere else? Thanks in advance
i have this problem now and im gonna use your tutorial to repair it.. thanks that you made a tut for it
Dear Gordon,
thank you for your instructive video.
I'm writing this because to me the problem was somewhere else... In fact the resistor pack was fine but the blower motor wasn't working at all. I own a k12 micra (left side drive) but electronics are similar to yours (in fact they are the same, the resistor pack can be reached under the steering wheel with little hassle).
Following your instructions I was able to disassemble the glove compartment and by doing so I reached the blower cables. As soon as I moved the electrical connector the motor came to life again.
The connector is flawed and the two pins often become loose interrupting the current passage. I'm still wondering how to permanently solve this (the connector is covered by a plastic shell in my version and I didn't try to remove it because I was afraid to damage something).
I just wanted to share this solution so that everybody can benefit.
Again thank you a lot, you literally saved my day
I am sure your additional information will help others so thanks for that.
really helpful.
please keep posting more videos.
Nice Work! Many thanks.
thanks man you were realy helpful.
Hi Gordon, my husband has sorted out my heater really quickly this afternoon, without any complications or setbacks, thanks to your really helpful video and its advice. Now, he says, all I have to do now is wrap up the old pack in Christmas paper and put it under the tree...apparently sorting my heater was my Christmas present...!! (Well, that's what he says but he might be kidding me...!) Anyway, thank you very much for your very valuable contribution to my Christmas pressie - and a very Happy Christmas and New Year to you!
thanks very much. this was really useful as I had the exact same issue and didn't know it would be such a straight forward job,
Thank you so much!
Very useful, thanks, I had 1/2 the dash out before I found your video pointing me to the right location!
Thanks for the advice. Bought the part from eBay and it's working perfectly.
This is awesome.. I already removed the radio and the central panel and was really at lost as to how to unplug the controls of the heater. But it turns out infected I don't have to.
Hi, I have the same problem, fan starts working on 4th position but there is no air blowing in to the cabin. Can be something stucked on the vent pipes?
hello, how can i remove the panel for the heater. i mean this unit which you use to controll the temperature and the Speed for Airflow.
Kind regards from Germany
hi there,
really appreciate
we just bought a 2001 micra very nice car
all heater fan speeds except the fastest one not working
the window defrost not working very well would this be due to this also?
thanks very much
i have same problem did u fix it
Hi ! Thanks for that !! I have a german car ( steering wheel on left side ) So i had not to fix of the box, its under the steering wheel. But it was easy too.
thanks man very helpful ,could you please tell me what i have to ask to get the right part ,what part number or name?
hi could you make a video on how to fix a the boot switch/or a boot that doesnt open on this nissan micra model. thank you
Thanks Gordon, this was really helpful. Managed to fix on a 2010 Micra - it would of took me much longer to find the location of the resistor unit without your video. Well done.
Thanks for this vid mate, helpful 1
Thanks, can I change it to digital one ? Bottom’s air control ?
what is the switch thing called
Prabjot Matta it is called a resistor pack
looking access to my rear heater window switch ... 7:33 looks good to me :)
Question: If i don't have the A/C button, does that mean i don't have AC? It only blow hot air
It would think that no A/C button means no A/C. If it had A/C there would be a compressor on the alternator belt route plus associated pipe work.
@@bunnybr Thank you! I got other problems whit the car right now p0420 catalytic bank 1 and it won't pass emissionstest
@@bunnybr Can you put a/c in this car or is it impossible?
If you need car with A/C best get one with it already installed.
Thanks - Do you know that part number ? Having difficulty locating that part
Just did an ebay search on micra blower resistor and found them. Or get one from a scrappy, much cheaper.
merci
thanks
thank you!
Very useful. Thanks mate!...
You are great!!!
Thanks for post this. I now have a fixed car and a very smug feeling. £13 off Ebay.
Glauco Di Lieto what is the part called?
On eBay it was called HEATER BLOWER FAN MOTOR RESISTOR 4 PIN NISSAN MICRA NOTE CUBE NV200 VERSA. Good luck!
Thanks
@@glaucodilieto thanks for the name on ebay.
@@capitanjan9700 No problem, glad it's still called the same after 2 years!
Hi there, on mine they don't work at all. They started working again a few week ago and now stopped again on any speed. Will this fix in the video work?
It is possible for the resistor to be faulty. It depends where in the circuit of the resistor is broken. I would be inclined to check you are getting a voltage to the resistor pack.
Thank you.
BullvineUK1 Did you ever work out what was going on?
Shogo2007 Best to just remove the resister and test for continuity from pin 1 to pin2 then 3 and 4. If there is continuity from pin1 to pin 4 the resister pack is OK and the problem lies elsewhere. If there is no continuity from pin 1 to pin 2 then it will not work at any selected speed. Hope this helps
bunnybr Cheers mate! Is Pin one where the blue cable goes?
