Yes, she was very graceful in her take-chargeness--that's how I like to describe it! Did you notice in the beginning she asked the host if she could begin? That was her way of ushering him in the right direction.😂

I love the clips where Aretha is cooking because it shows how down to earth she could be. Whenever Aretha was interviewed about her music and the interviewer would try to get her to open up more and be candid she would always just shut down and give nice pat answers. Whenever I watch these these cooking segments with Aretha I notice there was an ease and comfort that she never seemed to have when it came to talking about her music.

    • @MrsMattMurphy

I just realised I didnt include the interview at the piano - Ill upload the rest of it later tonight - yes totally agree - she seems more at ease discussing other issues other than her craft and talent tbh

@@MrsMattMurphy I know it's kind of late commenting on this but there is a clip of Aretha being interviewed and the interviewer brings up her songwriting. It's on youtube if you type Aretha underrated songwriting. He tried to get her to delve into it a little bit and her attitude was basically "whatever." She had zero interest in talking about it. It's disappointing though because there are singers without a fraction of Aretha's talent who will talk in great detail about what they do but Aretha was always the complete opposite of that.

Funny to see a world class diva cooking in the kitchen. She should be in a beautiful gown, bringing us all to our feet with her music.

Ah, but Aretha was a multi-faceted woman. She was a world class diva, but in he younger years she loved to play tennis, in her later years she studied at Juliard. But one thing that was a constant throughout her life is that Aretha was known for her love of cooking. She always discussed it in her interviews for years. Those who have followed her closely through the decades are well aware that she was as much a domestic goddess and legendary party hostess at her home in Detroit, as she was a world class diva, and we have always appreciated the moments she shared her favorite family recipes with us.

I would eat the mess out of her cooking lol. There’s something comforting about being cooked for from a maternal figure. I’m sure her grandkids and kids felt so cared for

I find it sadly interesting that Aretha Franklin mentioned a story of her being 12-years-old, cooking for her dad and the awkward quietness that followed next. I think I understand the subliminal message Ms. Aretha Frankin was trying to convey here. I will continue to keep the family in my prayers.
