If it's the original engine it's a 10hp, model 102 the 10 is the hp and the 2 being an even number indicates a standard trans.
Also, where the side cover wraps around the cylinder and passes between the dipstick tube and the cylinder there was a problem trapping grass clippings and blocked air flow causing the engine to overheat. The Kohler solution was to cut the cover off where it passes by the dipstick tube. Later engines came that way. Also, it appears that the gas tank and cap have been painted. Make sure the gas cap is venting or it will build a vacuum in the tank eventually stopping gas from going to the carb. Just loosen or remove the cap and see if your stalling problem goes away. One more thing, when having no belt on the pto pulley you should engage the clutch so you don't wear out the button on the engagement lever.

@dougseaman8791 Mentioned checking to make sure it isn't pulling a vacuum in the gas tank, so I would definitely test that since it is simple by just unscrewing it slightly.
An idea I had is to make sure that the valves are both lapped properly to make sure there isn't some sort of leak.

That was another thing I was wondering about was valves thinking they might not be sealing right. I did end up geting the engine running right I believe it was ignition related but im not completely certain on that, there is an update video also sorry for the late response

Thanks for the advice on the lever I will keep that in mind. I have swapped the tank and lid to try that but it made no difference in the way it was running. I would have replied to this earlier but never got the chance
