This album has been everything I've wanted for the past 6 years of her pop career. 1989, reputation and Lover were certainly good and fun to listen to, but this? This level of sheer narrative storytelling? THIS is what I'm a stan for. This album officially replaces Red as my favorite album. I always say 1989 and reputation were good pop albums, but bad Taylor Swift albums. Lover got a little bit better and the lyrics became a smidge more profound, but not anywhere close to Speak Now and Red. My thing is is when she did fully transition to pop it really left a huge hole on the what-could-have-been. Red is brilliant, but you can sense the immature themes, so I was always wanting an album of an older Taylor to show the growth and maturation in her songwriting, and by god did she do that with this magnum opus.

It's Red if Red had the musical cohesion of 1989. Red was a brilliant album and up until folklore my favorite, but I can concede that because she genre-bended so much on Red, it can be a bit offputting.
iKazed nah because there were pop songs on red like 22 and we are never ever getting back together. There isn’t a trace of pop in folklore.
I love these types of Taylor songs even more than her country and pop songs :)
Listen. You have to react to the whole album. In the past you mentioned how your favorite version of Taylor is acoustic Taylor. This is an album full of mellow vulnerable tracks with genius lyricism and a lot of the songs are written from different characters perspectives but the folklore album in my opinion is her best so far.
from your pov yes i would say this is her best album, however when it comes to vocals i feel as though lover was better mostly because it had diversity from sad, happy, higher and lower and all different feels of music.

What I love about Taylor swift's songs the most is that she articulates them so clearly that you don't even need to look up the lyrics. When I listen to her songs, I feel like I can connect better cause I understand what she's singing. Very different to other artists today in the industry, not gonna mention names but half of their song is like aaaaaaah oooooooh yeahhh and I don't understand a freaking word in the rest of the song

I think from Reputation for Taylor was very much like that though. I’ve loved her since her first album as I’m a country fan and left after 1989 as it was too many oohs and ahhh and Taylor is an amazing story teller hence why she rocked Country. I’m so glad she’s done this album so I have more of her amazing music to listen to.

For the video, she said everyone also social distanced and there was a very minimal amount of staff involved. She did her own hair, makeup, and costume styling for the video as well to help reduce the amount of people needed. I will say that I'm AMAZED at the fact that this whole album was recorded in quarantine. So incredible.

holy cow i just realized something crazy about the "peter losing wendy" line for anyone that's interested. if you didn't know, taylor's songs betty, august, and cardigan are written in the perspective of 3 people in a love triangle (james, betty, and another girl). cardigan is in the POV of betty (who was cheated on). when i was listening to these songs i was thinking about how betty is way more mature than james and she has a very mature perspective on their relationship. WELL the reason peter lost wendy was because wendy grew up and moved on. BETTY IS LIKE WENDY BECAUSE SHE IS MORE MATURE AND WOWOWOW i can't believe i didn't understand that line before!! ok that's it. thoughts?

It's also really interesting bc Betty sings "I knew everything when I was young" and talks about all the things in the relationship that she predicted (him hurting her, him coming back once he was bored with the girl from august, etc.) and James sings "I'm only 17, I don't know anything" which is a cool contrast that Taylor worked into the songs!!

A lot of my friends said that they kinda taken aback by the sounds of it but after a few more listen and understanding the lyrics, they are so addicted to it. Its a grower album i guess (but not for me tho, i love it on my first listen).

as a long time swiftie and a lover of alternative and indie, folklore is a freaking masterpiece and you gotta listen to it, Tristan, it's so lyrically beautiful and the combination of fictious tales blending with her real life is amazing. it really shows how talented she is, as she continously experiments in different genres and manages to do it so wonderfully (in my opinion.) 🥺💖

This is the first time ever that I've liked a Taylor swift song enough to add it to a playlist. I listened to a podcast where someone was saying the new album was boring and like she was trying to make an album that wouldn't be successful or get radio play, or words to that effect and I immediately went to listen because I've been waiting for this. I don't agree with what that person said exactly but I do think that she wasn't thinking about what would be the most commercially successful when she wrote this album. I think this is her just doing what she wants, making the music she wants to make with the thought, "if people like it, cool, if not, that's fine too. " I never thought I'd ever say I'm a Taylor Swift fan but the new stuff is making me think that I just might be. I would even go so as saying that she's giving me some Joni Mitchell vibes. Enjoyed this video a lot.

Biggest for any album since her own previous album Lover. Folklore has also broke Spotify records. She’s also now number 1 album on billboard 200, which makes this her 7th album to be on the spot. Not to mention, since this was a surprised album, that her own label wasn’t even aware of until the last minute; physical album hasn’t been released yet. So all of this record was broken digitally.

Taylor’s ability to evoke emotion with her vocals is top tier! Though her voice isn’t the strongest, she uses it far better to convey emotions than the vast majority of artists who do have a stronger voice.
in Tristan's case, he focuses more on the production rather than the lyrics or message of the song ( i know cuz he's a vocal coach) but i think it's kinda weird watching someone who reacts to a whole album and just pass the messages because this album (i believe) focuses more on its story. i just hope tristan could react also to the lyrics.
