HISTORIC BACKGROUND OF VALLEY FORGE
Valley Forge holds a significant place in American history as the winter encampment of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. Located in Pennsylvania, Valley Forge became the military camp for General George Washington's troops from December 1777 to June 1778. This period marked a crucial turning point for the Continental Army, where soldiers endured extreme hardships, including harsh winter conditions and supply shortages.
Despite these challenges, the time spent at Valley Forge was pivotal in shaping the Continental Army into a more disciplined and cohesive force. Under the leadership of General Washington, soldiers received crucial training and guidance from Baron von Steuben, a Prussian military officer who instilled European military tactics and discipline.
By the spring of 1778, the army emerged from Valley Forge stronger and better prepared, eventually leading to pivotal victories such as the Battle of Monmouth. Valley Forge thus stands as a symbol of resilience and determination in the face of adversity during the American Revolutionary War, embodying the spirit of sacrifice and commitment to liberty that defined the founding era of the United States.
Visitors to Valley Forge National Historical Park today can explore preserved landscapes, historic buildings, and monuments that commemorate this transformative chapter in American history.
GETTYSBURG NATIONAL MILITARY PARK: DISCOVER AMERICA'S HISTORIC BATTLEFIELD
Explore Gettysburg National Military Park, a pivotal site in American history where the Civil War's Battle of Gettysburg took place in 1863. Located in Pennsylvania, this historic park commemorates the largest battle ever fought on American soil, where Union and Confederate forces clashed over three days in July.
Visitors to Gettysburg National Military Park can walk in the footsteps of history, touring battlefield landmarks such as Little Round Top, Devil's Den, and the iconic Gettysburg National Cemetery where President Abraham Lincoln delivered his famous Gettysburg Address.
The park offers a wealth of educational experiences, including guided tours, museum exhibits, and ranger-led programs that bring the stories of courage and sacrifice to life. Whether you're a history enthusiast, student, or family looking to explore America's past, Gettysburg National Military Park provides a poignant and insightful journey through one of the nation's defining moments.

Being from Southwestern Penna., it was an honor to see you make the journey to this battlefield and tour the area which surrounds it. My wife and I have visited and toured the battlefield many times. With each visit we both learn a little more or the atrocities that happened at this special and solemn location. May God bless all the men from both side fighting for what they believed in and staying true... Life is a journey, so enjoy the ride!
I'm really enjoying these series, rock on guys ✌️
Thanks for the input, Chris!
I live a few hours north of Gettysburg. Not sure how many times I have been there but I enjoy every trip. Amazing history there and you can almost feel that history in your bones! Glad to see you guys in the northeast. Keep doing what you do!
Agreed!! What an incredible place...
Thanks for coming along for the ride! Glad you enjoyed it
Love the small piece on Gettysburg, thank you! Need to spend a few days there to really experience the battlefield. Growing up, we spent every Memorial Day there with extended family, celebrating my ancestor who fought with the 44th NY, located on Little Round Top. That area will always hold a special place in my heart.
Thanks for tuning in!! Glad you enjoyed that part! We almost didn't go to Gettysburg, but after seeing it we're glad we did. What a special place. You can really feel the energy there. Thanks for sharing, BJ.
We hope to explore more of it someday
I love the history of our country. Stoked to see you guys touring my parents state they grew up in .
We do too!! It was a great state to tour. Thanks for tuning in, Bill 👍
I've ridden all over this Country from Texas, but I have never visited Gettysburg. It is indeed Hallowed, blood soaked ground. We need to learn from our mistakes. Our Country is divided. If everyone could visit a place like this and truly reflect, perhaps it would bring us together.
Agreed! Well said. Thanks for watching 👍
Great video!! Im near Gettysburg and love riding through the area when i can. So much history, you can spend days there. Next time, you all should head over to the Antietam National Battlefield.
I've never been to Gettysburg as an adult (Bucket list) but there seems like there's a heaviness to being there. It's one of the reason that I hate when people start talking about starting another "Civil War", as if it's just such an easy thing and that it will solve everyone's problems. This was legit "brother against brother", and I can't even imagine. Thanks for sharing. You guys are truly "shaking hands with America". 🤝👏
Amazing, simply amazing! Thank you 2LL team & ladies. 👍👍
Thanks for tuning in!! What a day that was..
wonderful video, what stirring history. not to mention some great riding, wonderful meals, and all with good friends. life is good! 🤠😎
GREETINGS FROM NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, GREAT DROP LOVE THAT KIND OF STUFF AND YOU GUYS DO IT SO GREAT. 🇺🇸🏍️
THANKS FOR TUNING IN, STEVE! GLAD YOU ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS WE DO! 🇺🇸
Lucky guys, Lucky wives. 👍
I appreciate the riding and history in this video.
Thanks for coming along for the ride, Ardy
This country has so much to offer and see. You have inspired me to travel more on my bike. The places you have chosen are always awesome Josh your camera angles are great. My wife and I did 10 days through New England such a beautiful place. Keep up the great destinations.
It sure does. There's endless opportunities right in our own country and they're always amazing to see. We're glad you're enjoying the ride! There's plenty more where that came from👍
My two favorite things in the world...motorcycles and history. Thanks guys new subscriber here.
That's what we like to hear!!! Thanks for the support, Lachlan!
Thanks for the tour ad history
You got it! Thanks Joe 👍
In 2011 a friend and I rode our Harleys from California to Gettysburg for a Hog Ralley. It was a great trip and Gettysburg was very interesting.
Very cool!! Thanks for sharing. That sounds like an awesome trip
Awesome video, welcome back East!! I had the pleasure of spending a couple days exploring Gettysburg almost 2 years ago on my Harley, and I agree: the reverance and solemnity of the battlefields are incredible! It really does make you step back and consider how great our country and fore father's are!
Side note: my parking experience downtown was EXACTLY as nightmarish as yours lol 😂 I laughed out loud hearing your descriptions! Trying to download the parking app on the fly with little to no network bandwidth was unreal, but we made it work!!
Another fine video gentlemen!
Headed out east in Aug. For a two week ride ticking off a few more states I haven't riden in yet. I'm not sure how I didn't think about stopping in Gettysburg. Thanks for the reminder.
Terrific. A dozen years ago we did a motorcycle tour of Gettysburg with our guide on two wheels as well.
Very cool!! It sure is a good way to see it!
You’re in my backyard and rode right by the Harley plant in York. Love the videos.
I live in Maryland. Actually Antietam/Sharpsburg MD is the bloodiest carnage of all wars combined. It is very close to Gettysburg, PA
Thanks for the history!! We'll have to read up on that. Thanks Deb!
Great segment and surly enjoyed both Valley Forge and Gettysburg. Went there on the motorcycles in 2019 and it was really eye opening.
My family and I toured Gettysburg a few years ago. Even as Canadians , an amazing and informative visit. We would go back again. So much history
Great series gents. Gettysburg is awesome. You guys were in my area Bird in Hand/Lancaster. Can’t believe you didn’t stop at Harley plant in York.
Awesome video. Thanks for the history lesson!
Thanks for coming along for the ride, Levi!! There's some incredible history out there...just gotta go experience it!
WEPA!🔥🔥🔥

Awesome content, growing up on the east Coast got to do many class trips to the area along with Washington DC, many moons ago 🇺🇸
Was just in Gettysburg a week ago for the Indian Motorcycle Riders Group meet. Very historic place & our cycle tour guide was very informative. Enjoyed your video....
It sure is! Thanks for watching, Max!
Love seeing the history yall share.
Glad to hear it!! Thanks for tuning in, Darrell 🙌
If you guys ever come back you have to try Blue & Gray Bar & Grill inside the circle at gettysburg. Awesome litle restaurant.
awesome video guys we were there last year for the rally but didn’t get to see the history that u guys did very cool and man ton of history
Definitely a ton of history!! Thanks Jeff
You guys should go back to Gettysburg and spend a couple of days. There is so much more to see there!
That's what it sounds like! We'll have to make it back out that way sometime with less of a time crunch. Thanks for tuning in!
That was a very interessting Episode Touring
Thanks for coming along for the ride!
I really appreciate what y’all do for us! I lived in Maryland for years while serving in the military (1991-1996, & 2006-2013). I visited Gettysburg many times. ( I was about 40 mins away in Frederick) I had stopped riding motors in 2006 (ish) and never traveled that area via motors. I bet it’s even more amazing.
Current day I live in the desert of too hot. Southern Az. Man do I wish I could ride into Gettysburg… I need to plan a trip.. again- thanks for what y’all do!
I visited Gettysburg in 2022 on the way back from Laconia. It was a last minute decision. But when we got there, and rode around just before dusk, it was surreal. We stopped off at one of the roads intersecting the battlefields and you can literally feel the heaviness in the air. I'm not sure how else to describe it. I definitely need to go back for a real visit and not an overnight stop.
Surreal is a good word for it!! There certainly is a heaviness in the air. We hope to make it back for a longer trip back there at some point.
I was just there a few weeks ago. Would have loved to have met you guys.
GREAT VIDEO !!!
Love your videos! I get so many great place to ride to from y’all.
Thanks Donny!!
Come down to Greensboro, NC, the site of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. It was a noteworthy battleground, also. My bike's in the shop, after hitting a deer a couple weeks ago, but I'd still love to meet you guys.
Its cool watching you guys ride placed ive been as much as placed i havent lol
Thanks for coming along for the ride! Plenty more where that came from👍
Drove from Pittsburgh to Gettysburg with my dad last fall. Beautiful drive can only imagine it’s a better ride. Very cool experience to see all of the history that shaped America. Also you guys should check out the flight 93 memorial next time you’re out that way.
Yes definitely. I live in Gettysburg and rode there the other year. It was beautiful in the fall
Nice change up to the road series we know will be coming as we head into July.
You know it!
Keep keeping on
Thanks for the great video 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
🙌
Me and my family go to Gettysburg every year. In fact...we just got back a few weeks ago. I love Gettysburg and I love riding there. Hell...I live 3 miles from Phoenixville PA. After seeing this video I am now a sub. Where did you guys stay in Gettysburg? We stay at the Hotel 1863 every year. Great place if you ask me. Only issue...no microwaves in the rooms.
Nice video keep up the good work 2LaneLife
🙌
As always great video. I love the history and this makes me really want to ride east!
That's what we like to hear! Thanks Jeremy
great vlog 2 lane guys......
Thanks John!!
If I would’ve known you guys were around, (I’m from the York area) I would have tried to catch up with ya. Good choice going to Gettysburger, that’s what I would’ve suggested to ya.
Great informative video
Thanks Janice! We're glad you enjoyed it 🙌
Wish I knew you guys were local. I would have stooped in and said hi I’m only a few miles away.
We'll hopefully be back again sometime down the line!
I don't know Lance, lookin good on that bat wing fairing😮
It was a nice change for this trip, but missed the Road Glide big time!
HOPEFULLY YOU GUYS GOT TO SEE THE DEVILS DEN. PROBABLY THE BEST PLACE TO SEE.
We'll have to throw that on the list for next time!
Instead of asking newbies to subscribe, like and ring the bell, how about some love for us regulars that have been tagging along since the beginning?😂😂
We appreciate you. Thanks for the continued support!😎
Have you guys heard of Shark Week Road Glide Rally at all? If you guys will be in the St George area, there will be a 5 day rally, devoted specifically for Road Glides! It's still fairly new, but there's already 3 hotels all reserved in the area for it! It's the last few days in July at (29th-August 2nd.) If you guys are in the area, would love to see ya! If I'm able to, I can post a Facebook link for it, I'm personally riding from Iowa to there, it was great fun last year in Virginia Beach.
That sounds awesome but we'll be riding to Milwaukee for Homecoming Rally and then directly to Sturgis from there. Have fun out there!
If your in the area come up north near Allentown. Would love to take a ride with you and show you a place for a good cigar.
We'll hopefully be back out that way again sometime down the road
Xcellent 😊😊😊😊
🙌
salue vous est de bon professeur d'histoire merci
Merci d'avoir regardé! Nous sommes heureux que vous ayez apprécié la leçon d'histoire
I live in Gettysburg. Oddly enough if you grew up here you really pay more attention to the tourist than the history hahaha. I even live in a precivil war farmhouse. I know where there’s good places to eat but other than that not much else
Haha that makes sense. That's awesome though! What a historic place to live
Every monument in Gettysburg was placed where the company was during the war!
Very cool!! Such awesome history
Yo! Come thru northern VA, Quantico Marine corps Museum is a Must!
We'll add it tot he list!
Did u guys stop @ Harley plant in York
Not this time around
Skull Valley Chili Co. Rule #1, never serve Luke warm chili. 🌶️ 😂🤙
The master speaks!!
Boy’s Boy’s . Damn I wish I’d had known you were gonna be in my neck of the woods. Next time hit me up I’ll show some other cool’s spots we can make a 2 or 3 dayer out of it. Next time either eat at the Blue and Gray on the round about or O’rourkes heading out of town on the left To the battle field. Also a stop by Antietam for the most haunted bridge in America at night you can hear the dead!
By the way if we don’t strike at PSU my last day is 3/21/25 35 years I’ll be retired so I will have some time on my hands. We can take the National highway out of Gettysburg towards where GW got his start!
Algorithm. 🤘🏻

🤣💦💦
Loved the breakfast dedication to Juan!
WEPA!👊🏼
😂🤘
That place is supposed to be the most haunted place in America.
That wouldn't surprise us!
Just thinking about what was goin through those men's minds in that coarse of life and what little they had to work with while trying to stay alive and keep a family. Not to mention, what the women and girls saw and experienced. Now, that's REAL life. No comparison to nowadays standards.
Agreed! What a wild time to be alive.
