We have a new model for the channel! This time an Academy 1/35th kit. When building our scale models the dilemma is always present. Do I build it out of the box? What if I buy extra aftermarket pieces? How much is too much detailing?
In this video I will show you my way of building and detailing model kits, considering all the levels of detailing for getting a accurate result and choosing the one more balanced between nice detailing and less effort.
You will see how I work with textures, how I represent or improve plastic pieces and more. Also I think this will become helpful for your own models.

Joachim
Thanks for your comment,
Really happy to see the video message is clear
Now it's time to move to painting stage!
Cheers
Great work doing these simple, yet effective upgrades! I also got some aftermarket tracks for a Stug III I will be doing next, and I might want to get some of this aftermarket shown by you, just to give that little extra cherry on top! Thanks for the content!
Yes, in my case I prefer simple but visually interesting changes in the model. That stug model with metal tracks and stowage sounds good! I take mine from spare bits from old models
Awesome detailwork, can't wait to see it painted!
Thanks for your comment, currently working in the painting video. Desert camouflages are becoming interesting!
Very nice model the extra detail really makes it look in scale and on the whole more realistic
Thanks, taking care of details improves the model in a technical way. No it's time to show how it was painted!
@@notjustpanzer looking forward to the final results
Thanks for the video
This is a really nice balance between adding detail but without going overboard on photo etch that takes hours if not days to add that in the end most people won’t know once painted . 👍
I usually don't enjoy building as much as painting. So my assembly view is pretty much it, fixing some texutring lacks and adding some extra detailing.
Cheers and thanks for your comment!
Super build.
Thanks. Hope you find it useful for your own projects!
Great job!
Thanks! Glad you like it 💪🏻💪🏻
Cool tips.
Thanks! Hope you find them useful for your projects 💪🏻
well implemented 👍
Thanks! Hope you find it useful!
i plan on challenging myself by doing this with the tamiya one haha, I am printing lots of extra details
It sounds good. I don´t know the tamiya kit in depth, I guess you will need some extra care with it, cause it´s older obviously, but with 3d printing you can get awesome improvements. Good luck with that model!!
yeah, update on this: i acquired this kit and I still plan on up-detailing the Tamiya one, I am just gonna save the expensive aftermarket for the Academy one so that it actually feels worth it haha@@notjustpanzer
I finished this exact model half a year ago, and I'd say it's a pretty good and fun build. However, I chose a sticker scheme with no toolbox needed first, and did put on the toolbox. It ended up with the scheme with the R-s on the side of the turrets, and the toolbox on the rear of the turret with the bison on it. I think it looks neat, but I also find it inaccurate and I wish I made up my mind on one side only.
I know what you mean, I had similar mistakes in the past. In my opinion, academy kits are particularly tricky when you have to choose your decal scheme and take the correct parts at the same time. Anyway, you should be proud of your model and keep that as a valuable lesson for future projects.
@@notjustpanzer Thanks mate, really looking forward to the next vid about this kit of yours
