yes it is. The Waltons lived just South of Charlottesville- the "real " Waltons mountain is in Nelson County. Charlottesville is a total waste now, though.
I've always wanted to move to Charlottesville. I live in Gillette Wyoming and I primarily work as a tile setter and also do a ton of drywall/texture. My older brother moved to C-ville from Boston a while back and I visit him on my vacations. Does anybody in C-ville even need a tile/drywall person? I would think I'd be great for the realtors (Deb/Boop anybody out there?)
I am Charlottesville born and bred, My family has lived in Albemarle County when it was still ruled by British kings I think it's kinda sad they didn't interview any of the true natives of the community (I'm talking generational natives). So many old Charlottesville original townspeople have moved to the surrounding counties to get away from a town that is no longer theirs and has been changed so drastically that it no longer even resembles the small Southern town it was 40 or 50 years ago. None of the people interviewed had that Charlottesville 'Southern drawl." It has become a town of newcomers who changed our once charming city into a bedroom community of D.C. or retirees from the Northern states. I don't believe there is a single Charlottesville native on the city council. It makes me sad when I go back and see how "they" have turned the place of my birth and of my ancestors who helped make Charlottesville a beautiful small Southern community into a sprawling urban.traffic nightmare with no respect for how the real locals feel about it. Check out the wonderful communities in Greene, Orange, Fluvanna, Louisa, Madison and Buckingham counties to get the feel of what what Charlottesville used to be and you will understand why the generational natives are running away in droves to these areas...someplace that feels more like what our town used to be. Charlottesville will always hold a special place in my heart because it is my hometown but it can never be my "home" again..
sugarplumvisions It's a vicious cycle. Our family came down from George Mason's line and according to all of our family bibles and journals, the areas were beginning to be gentrified a loooong time ago so a lot of the family that continued to farm picked up other crops instead of tobacco and went out west. And now you see them running back east from the west. Growth happens, and I've seen it first hand and it's sad. But be glad you aren't dealing with corporate giants like Google, Amazon, Microsoft and even the wine industry where we used to live. That was heartbreaking. The cost of living doubled over the course of a decade! I have to say Virginia, and Kentucky, have done well going with the growth but still at least attempting not to lose all of the charm unlike other states.
I noticed that everybody in the video has a similar look. I would have like to I've seen a little bit more variety as someone considering moving to the area. Just an observation.

Well just got back so here it is. Sadly on sundays not much is open,food is available not all the shops are. ;-( Seen many ,um many good looking females. haha..... Though I was not shopping for a date,had my bride with me..haha. Clean, oh yes it is. Few crazy kids ,as in wild clothes etc. but thats what makes it corky . Ate at the YEARBOOK .....OMG BEST TACOS EVER ! Shrimp , Fish , Beef,Chicken....they are all amazing. CHEF knows what he is doing. Though so many food choices it may be hard to decide,but they all looked De'lish.... Sunday it is some what a ghost town...kind of like good old America I guess, I just was not use to that these days. But would I go back.....YES and I plan on taking the children. To show them America still exist . oh, theres a shop that sells Fair Trade......ya must go and buy, also another with sells items hand made from CHINA.....not the BS. china. I'm talking Amazing items.....them keep sakes . was pleased with the town....like to see & hear more street musicians on SUNDAY !!!!. ok, let me stop...haha. ps: People are out for a pleasant time there. and it was.

I live in cville! I love it here. It was once voted best place in the country and another time was voted best place to raise kids in the southeast
