I just made a set of shoes for my dog and, oh my gosh, you're right, they are the best boots ever! He actually wears them, comfortably, and they look soooo gooood!!! One tip that might come in handy when making them, I put wax paper over the rubberized piece when sewing them onto the fleece, and that helps the presser foot to glide over the material and the paper just tears off when done. Thank you again for this pattern. They are absolutely adorable!
This is a life saver. I have made or purchased at least 20 different boots for my little 8 lb dogs. We live in SE Wisconsin and the snow and ice and cold and salt are brutal on their feet. Without boots, they can only be outside 2 minutes. The boots always fall off. My husband found your videos out of desperation for the pups. I made 4 sets today and they worked wonderfully. Nearly the same thing I have made for years but a tighter fit and putting the Velcro between the pads made all the difference. They literally went for a jog today twice and the boots were warm and dry when they got home and all still on the dogs! A miracle. I used polar fleece and tanned deer hide and 1/2 I. Velcro. I made the first set using 2 pieces like you did but made the second set with one long strip of polar fleece and one piece of hide positioned so there was a toe and a bottom. Added Velcro, folded in half and sewed up each side - seamless toe with less bulk. Thank you so much - especially for the fitting and positioning!! I wish I could add pictures of the process I used.
I made these boots for my Min Pin. He recently had surgery on his front paws and I used the boots to keep him from licking his bandages and to give him a break from wearing his “cone of shame”. They worked like a charm and his vet was really impressed with them too! Thanks for a great tutorial.
Put some painter’s tape on the bottom of your presser foot to prevent it from sticking to the rubberized fabric. You can also use a Teflon presser foot.
I've made many sets of your old boots and the nails did come through. Thanks for the upgraded toes. A friend gave me some of that rubberized stuff and was wondering how I could sew it. Thanks for that. I sew on an old treadle sewing machine so I was really impressed by the reverse thing. Wow how nice. Again, thanks for the video!
I couldn't find the proper materials in my city when I watched the other videos so now I have the links where to purchase the velcro and the materials. Thank you. I am at my wits end having tried and discarded about ten pairs at this time. Thanks again!
Just wanted to let you know that I managed to make a 5"x7" boot for Cooper and it's so effective in keeping the vetwrap clean and dry. Thank you again.
Looks like 1/4" seams? What size seams are you sewing for these boots. I have also made a set for my puppy! and they do not fall off the feet! Thanks so much for this video.
Hi, I love these and have managed to order the Toughtek and wrap around velcro in the UK, I want to make a longer version of these. My son has two beautiful Vizlas and Cooper has had to have stitches in one of his front paws, poor wee boy. He has the blue vetwrap on but it isn't waterproof and you'll know how difficult it is to keep this clean and dry. Could I just make the length longer while keeping the width the same. I know it's probably obvious but this will be my first time making these. They look amazing and thank you for your wonderful videos.
Is this cool or what?!!! And how nice that you're sharing. FYI, look into getting a teflon foot for your machine. If one isnt availble for your machine try putting a small piece of scotch tape on the underside of your foot. This will help the material glide as opposed to the " drag" you're experiencing. Thanks again! Love it!!
Thank you for sharing this! I live in Albuquerque and the heat is really hard on dogs' feet. Dog owners who are living on the street have an especially hard time protecting their dogs' feet. So here is a question for you -- Do you think this method would work during 100 degree days and pavement is much hotter? Thanks again. Great channel!
Yes, yes and I amso sorry it's taken so long to reply. Also you can add moisture absorbing fabric to the boots. I think that vid is on my tik Tok channel
I am making now-- I took my little dog Mya for walk other day.. and we happened to cross street.. that had been salted... we only got another half block and she began to favor all 4 feet and limp/hump... the salt had gotten on her feet and was either burning.. or had made ice balls-- either way.. I had to pick her up and carry her home.. poor lil thing.. mummy is sewing today!!! thank you very much for this video-- Mya says thanks too!
Not really, the approximate sizes of the fleece are in the description box below as well as the other videos on boot making, fitting and care, sorry I couldn't be of more help and sorry for the late reply
I can't remember which video you made reference to your sewing machine being old but let me tell you, I've been sewing for over 50 yrs and I used that machine in Home-ec classes at school. They are a real treasure and a wonderful machine! I've noticed they are wanted by so many sewists when they search for a good quality machine, so you are fortunate to own one already. I'm making your boots today for our Maltese 'Biscuit' and am so excited to have found you and your videos. I've bought and tried other resources of making the boots, but of course they didn't work for one reason or another. Since I found you, I've told every pet owner I know about your wonderful videos, so please keep making them.
I thank you so much. I actually bought another machine almost identical to mine when I went to an old school service shop to have my machine serviced for only $100. It is worth 10 times that much to me. Check out your local service shops and thank you for telling all of your friends about my video
Brenda K May I ask the kind of sewing machine it is? My brother found me one which is older for sure and weighs a ton! It may be an old home ex type machine. I wonder if the weight means it is a good one as well as whichever brands you have?? Thanks 😊
Hi! I live in Arizona so snow is not an issue, however, the heat is treacherous to a dogs feet. Imagine what it can do when you can literally fry an egg on the asphalt during our hottest months! Because of our climate we also have a far greater number of homeless people, many of whom have dogs and I want to cry when I see them walking with no protection on their feet. So I make a ton of these boots and keep a supply in my car and when I see a dog barefoot, I give them a full set. The problem I had with using anything rubberized is that they tended to get sticky due to such high temperatures, so I use leather instead. It lasts a long time and almost takes on the shape of their feet after they've worn them awhile. Kind of like our most comfortable old pair of shoes. And because I give them away, I don't purchase new leather. Instead, I go to the Goodwill on their half price days and buy men's leather coats for next to nothing and you can get a lot of soles and reinforced toes out of one coat!
I love making your booties for my service dog. Protects her feet in the summer and winter. Buying supplies on sale the roughly cost about $5 for a set. I DON'T want to make them for people, but how much do you charge? I tell a lot of people about your videos. Thank you. Linda Lettau
The approximate sizes of the fleece are in the description box below as well as the other videos on boot making, fitting and care, sorry I couldn't be of more help and sorry for the late reply The velcro is twice as wide as the width
Have you tried a walking foot for your sewing machine? It will help keep all layers (including rubberized) of fabric together while you sew. It’s like an extra set of feed dogs making sure all layers go through your machine at the same time. Cheap on Amazon, but you would have to make sure it will fit your make and model. Thank you for this tutorial!
I have the exact same Singer model and found a walking foot for around $10 on Amazon a few years ago. This machine has a slant shaft. Thanks for the video!
Very cool! I need to make a pair... my Shitzhu was in serious trouble coming in from doing her deed this morning... 4 degrees F outside with snow... This was the first time, I want to make sure it is the last! Thanks for sharing cutie!
Has anyone here tried this and could you tell me if they are good for everday use? I have a service dog and she has to have boots for the summer because of the pavement and for walks. I'm going to be making alot of gear tonight (vests, collars, leashes, guide handles, pullstraps, ect.) I really need boots but don't want to spend a fortune to find out that they dont fit or they slip off. Edit: I made them and I absolutely love them they are perfect and I suggest them to anyone who wants to make them
Is there anymore info on what to cut the sizes too? In the video they seem to be more than one piece but I only see one piece size listed in the description. Thank you!
Sorry for the late response, but check out the other videos in the description box, I know its a pain in the butt, but making videos, we always seem to leave something out in one of them
Have you tried to lay a sheet of toilet paper over the rubber to sew it? It doesn't stich to the presserfoot and its easy to remove when the seem is finished. I will try this with rubber from old motorcycle innertube. Thanks for the tutorial.
Great video! How big do you cut the rubberized fabric in comparison to the fleece? Just the length of the foo from toenails to stopper pad? Thanks for your help
The instructions are in the step by step video located in the description box, thank you so much for watching and good luck with the boots, let me know how they turn out!
Below each video there is a description box which sometimes has a lot of info the person making the video either forgot to add or links to other important videos. Here is the link to the step by step video and in the description box below that video is a link to the fitting boots video. If you have any problems, let me know! ua-cam.com/video/Im67dJaOZ6I/v-deo.html
Hi, How has the sizing chart worked out for you? I've been making these boots for some time now and getting the correct size is such a tricky part. Please let me know how this works for you. Love your boots and videos. Would love to chat with you.
Sorry for the late reply. I make everyone come in for a custom fitting. If I order a Med online for jeans I get a 2Xlg. Everyone has different fittings and sizing
I have to order all of the fabric since moving over here to Norway. How much fabric would I need for 2 sets of boots for my little Alaskan Husky and Belgian Sheepdog. Both I think are medium sized on the smaller size of medium but not small.
Oh boy you are making me do math lol. I would order at least 1 1/4 yard of the fleece, as average bolts come in 60" width. I don't know if you can get the one wrap velcro in small amounts, but you will need 72" at 3/4 wide. For the Toughtek, I think the smallest piece you can get it is 19x36 on etsy for around $10.50. You could always send me a private message and I could work with you on sending you just what you need. I am sure the shipping would be outrageous, but you wouldn't be wasting money on wasted material.
I'm not sure how to send a private message, but I ordered everything that I need. The shipping wasn't bad at all. Sometimes I get surprised. My mom and her family are all from Minnesota also.
I found your original video a few years ago and have been making boots for my Westie boy ever since. They have saved both of us a great deal of pain and frustration. A suggestion for you ... you might try using a walking foot on your sewing machine. It will draw both pieces of fabric through at the same time. Thanks for sharing your new discovery. The synthetic suede only lasts us one season, as our walks are primarily on pavement. I appreciate your ideas!
Thank you for the idea about the walking foot, I never even knew there was such thing! I know how to make the thing go, but no clue when it comes to accessories. I will try find one, thanks again
How large height wise did you make the piece for the reinforced toe? Also so have you tried using a teflon foot to sew on the rubberized material? Can wait to try to make these boots!
I love your video, and I am planning to make booties soon. Regarding marking the stitch line, I will try using my tracing paper and tracing wheel. I don't sew very often so at least they will have a use again, if that works. Thanks again!
I've seen both videos on making the boots but the link for the video on fitting the boots doesn't work. I get "Oops, something went wrong" when I click on it. It shows a disconnected horse (midsection missing) image.
Thank you for sharing!! I bought doggy boots from the good brand before but they didn’t fit well and no luck for getting my babies to wear them. I’m so excited to learn this best doggy booties from you!!
I have 2 tiny chihuahuas. One is 2 lbs the other is 4 lbs. So for the 4 lb chi, I guess the fabric should be 1 x 1 1/2? what about my 4 lb chi?1/2 x 3/4? Also, I thought I would use snuggle flannel because I made abut 20 rag quilts for Christmas and have lots of left over fabric. Does the type of fabric matter? I'm sure cotton wouldn't work unless maybe you are dressing your dog up just for show and in warmer weather. LOL
PS: Thank you so much for this. I think I missed how you measure the material to get the perfect fit in case the measurements you have given are off a little.. or do you just keep cutting the fabric down?
First of all sorry for the late reply. Second, check out the description box below the video. There are links to my other boot making and care/fitting videos that should help. I did state that if I can't see your dog in person, the measurements are approximate. A 50lb Boxer is going to have way bigger feet than a 50lb Greyhound, so yes my measurements are off a bit over the internet, this is why I only sell them in person. Cut and sew them bigger than you think they need to be and you can always sew them smaller, this should work out fine. Thank you
Hey for those of you who don’t know where the description box is. Well FINALLY I REALIZED that it is the company name under the video you are watching. Thanks I’ll gonna make my 90 pound Rotty boots.today. It’s cold here in Alaska and she picks up her paws like carry me in please. Yeah right. Thank you very much for the pattern
Right above the company name. Anyway just came from -12F outside with my 90 # Rotty who usually stops and asks to be picked up LOL. We walked all around outside without issue awesome. Thanks again I am greatful for the pattern. Personally I used a walking foot to get the the sole onto the fleece worked best for me
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I appreciate it very much. I’m anxious to make my shih tzu her first pair of boots. I’ve viewed your videos but couldn’t find any measurement for how wide the toughtek is on the reinforced toe. Can you provide that info?
Ducttape206 It should help you on rubberised surface it also works on faux leather or suede as well as helping if you use very fine materials like tulle etc plus the fact it pulls off easy but don't use duct tape or electrical tape as they have a different type of adhesive
Wonder if using hot glue (really thin bead) would help? Also, when you stitch the long part of the bootie first & have a few stitches in, wouldn't the machine not make the heavier materal slide out of place. Oh and stitching the Velcro, an X would make it even stronger.
I tried to watch the video on how to measure your dog for the boots, your video on HOw to fit dog boots link, it is not working. when I click on it it comes up sorry video is not available. Is there another place that you have the video or can you make another video showing how you measure your dogs paws for the boots? Thanks
I'm also having problems pulling up the other video and I can't find the first video I had of yours showing how to make the booties, measure, cutting etc. The only video I have been able to pull up is the velcro one. I have tried every way I can think of to pull it up. I copied it and paste it, clicked on it. I just don't know what else to do. sorry. is there any way to send me another link on how to make them? I am trying to make them for my dogs. Thanks
Did you find the videos? They work on my end and I have asked other people to try and they said they worked. What size boots are you making? Every reinforced toe and bottom are different with the different sizes. Try half of the bottom and 1/4 for the toe, that is about what I do
ok, No I have tried to copy and paste on my laptop and also on my phone. It says the video is not available. I am making the 12-20 lbs. for my medium dog. I went ahead and did half (for the reinforce toe part) of the paw cover (the bottom). It seemed to work well. I will still try to get the video. I am not sure what is going on. could you maybe re-post the link here for me? Thanks
First I want to tell you that I love your boots! I have 5 dogs and my mom has 1 dog, but when i first found your video I had 6 dogs and my mom had 3 dogs.. All 9 dogs have worn your boots. All of my personal dogs can go out in the cold but after a 5 minutes in the extreme cold their feet start to freeze up. My mom's 17 lb dog however is lucky to last a minute or two in the extreme cold before he is on his hind legs begging to be picked up. When he is wearing your old version of the boots he actually stays outside way long and can do all of his business. With out these boots he would be going potty in the house and he is not pee pad trained! So thank you for being so wonderful and willing to share your amazing pattern with all of us!! I was also wondering if you can tell me where you by Toughtek at in bulk? I need to make boots for at least 6 dogs and i'd like to have two pairs of boots for each dog so the other pair has time to dry. I know you suggested Etsy but is that the cheapest place to go?
I havent searched much as life got in the way so that Etsy is all I can give you, If you find anything please let me know. Thank you so much for watching my video and I am so glad all of your pups can potty in comfort. It's so sad to see them struggle when you know how bad they have to go and want to be good dogs and go outside
Thank you so much for the pattern and technique. I was struggling with snow balls. I have a Giant Schnauzer and we like to go cross-country skiing. When the snow if wet and fluffy her legs accumulate about 3 pounds of snow each. It is super heavy for her, and she stops to bite them off. I don't want to shave her legs in winter. So a made a TALL pair. I added 2 more velcro tabs- strategically placed so her joints could move. They fit perfect, and we went out briefly in the snow. I have to make the other 3 now, and give them a good test run. But I think it will work. I used ribbing material- and thing pig skin leather. For the price I paid I could have bought nice nylon ones on the internet, but they weren't as tall, didn't like the colour, and weren't a custom fit. Thanks so much. I have watched all you videos about 5 times each , and as a result, I think I did it!!
Oh my gosh PetPrepper, these will be perfect for our 10 yr old boxer that has DM (Degenerative Myelopathy) I will be making these as soon as I can find the new toe fabric. THANK YOU THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ordered the special fabric from Etsy for the toe area. I think the new fabric will be perfect for what Sydney needs since she has worn her rear nails down from dragging her hind feet
Hi! I have a blue heeler 5mo puppy, living in central Wisconsin. I’d love to make booties and appreciate your videos. I’m just getting into sewing and excited to make this project! Would you recommend any specific sizing? You mentioned in another video to comment dog type and you’d recommend sizes. Thanks !
I make a similar boot for my dogs and friends/family and neighbors. I use Cordura for the pad and an 8" cable velcro that loops through and then pulls back These boots are great and easy to make. What I was wondering about is your set sizes. I have had people measure the paw etc but I don't feel I can get a good fit from afar. Would you share your set sizes with me. Looks like the size I use for my dogs is 2.5 X 4 (they are 20 lbs) Share if you will Thanks---I am in the Twin Cities and I am assuming you are too!!
@@PetPrepper I live in the Toronto area in Canada and with the cold weather my little 10lb Coton "Q-Tip" can only last a few minutes before her paws get too cold and Dad needs to carry her home :-), can I buy a pair and have them shipped? I have a U.S. address for that purpose in NY state so that part should be easy enough, and have a Paypal account as well.
Hot pavement also! People have been begging me for years to make boots for the hotter states and I keep telling them these are perfect. Dogs sweat through their paw pads and the amount of fleece between the pads and the Tough Tec is enough to absorb the sweat. Have a lot on my plate, but am looking for a hot climate enticing friendly looking fabric to use to sell in the NICE states!
Pet, I think your video is great and I am going to give it a try. Abouts how long to you think the velco needs to be for the 12-20 pound size? Oh, a teflon foot might also do the trick on the Toughtek :)
Sorry, I was Ice fishing. Take the width of the fabric and double it, that will give you the velcro length. Or just watch the video again, I think I demonstrate that part. Good luck and most of all HAVE FUN!
Love the improved version. Looking to move back to Ohio and will need boots for the snowing winters! (wondering if a walking foot would help the fabric not stick/bunch).
Love these boots. My Maggie has a booboo between her toes & I have to keep it covered with white socks to heal. My socks just aren't good enough, couldn't figure out how to keep them on. Searched UA-cam and found you! I didn't have everything I needed but made do with what I had. Took an old pair of white crew socks of mine, had scraps from a leather skirt and voila, have a boot for Maggie to wear and stay dry when she goes out to go potty in the snow. I was trying to secure them above the elbow, just like you said NOT TO DO! Works so much better the way you instructed. However, you didn't mention how to fit onto the hind legs and that's where Maggie's sore is. Any tips for that? You didn't mention the dimension for the toe guard on the better best version. Looks like I could wing it so not concerned, but I'm sure there are novices out there that would love to know. Great Job PetPrepper
Back feet are exactly the same, they have the side knuckles on all 4 feet. The reinforced toe is about half the length of the reinforced bottom, thank you and others for pointing that out, I will go put in an annotation!
Thanks for a good tutorial. It`s feezing her today. Minus 14 celcius and my fast growing 12 wo puppy need boots. May I ask if you could translate lbs to kg also? :)
Thank you. Going to try to make these as soon as I can gather up the materials (or similar materials.) My pup has a hard time with the cold in winter (especially times like now when it's averaging about -15c during the day. Walk half a block and she's whining her feet hurt, even though she's a large dog! I haven't really wanted to spend money on boots for her because. . .well, they're EXPENSIVE and the likelihood of one (or more) getting tossed off and lost in the snow is too great. Making them is far far better. I can just make replacements. :D
Singer makes a presser foot called a "walking foot" or even feed foot that completly solves that issues with the fabric. They are for sale on amazon or large fabric stores.
So....the boots are great but I just want ask you one question. Are you sewing the waterproof fabric on the RIGHT side of the pink fabric? I get a bit confused about right side and wrong side (front and back) of fabric. Sorry that I'm a bit thick 😜
Do not be sorry. Some fleece has a rough side and a smooth side. It matters to me because I am making them for customers, but there is so very little difference that they most likely would never know if I used the wrong side. If you don't care, your dog won't care, you are doing just fine
Well I've made one set with fleece and a waterproof fabric I purchased from Spotlight here in Australia. They turned out beautifully. Purple and black, my favourite colours. Then I used fleece again but replaced the waterproof fabric with some left over cotton material I had stored away. It's very hot and humid here so she wore them outside today and walked pretty darn well for her first try!! Thank you for answering quickly and I really believe you do make 'the world's very best doggy boots' 💜👍🌺
also when I made these I cut up the blue waterproof gloves you find at home depot. they have the same texture. we use them in the scuba diving dry suit world about $5 pair. I like your fabric choice better.
That is a great idea for folks who are just making one set. How did the glove fabric hold up to the stitching? Some of the rubber fabrics I have tried seemed to be weakened by the stitching and wouldn't hold up.
Marta just go to home depot for the blue gloves. I believe Atlas make them. it's a bit tricky to do because of the small piece you end with. I did a web search for toughtek. you can buy small quantities of it. I think that material is even better than the blue gloves. most likely you will need to make a sets of boots. as far as completely waterproof. I tried it and looked stiff. also it might get hot in there. the directions were perfect. I would just add the Velcro that stretches.
Anything you stitch is not going to be completely waterproof unless you seal the stitching. Also dogs cant sweat like humans, they only sweat out of their paw pads, so make sure their feet are able to breathe.
Now those I can get piles of from Princess Auto here they have black ones too. They should work great. I think for sewing I will try just using tissue paper over the material to make the pressure foot slide better.
I like the wax paper idea!
I wax my bobbin thread with bee's wax as I fill it, for heavy or tacky stuff.
Awesome! Thanks🙏😘
You are an angel to teach your craft to all of us who cannot find the right boot for their dogs! Thank you so much.
OK, I seriously love being a youtuber during boot season because I get so many nice comments like this. I can't thank you enough
This is a life saver. I have made or purchased at least 20 different boots for my little 8 lb dogs. We live in SE Wisconsin and the snow and ice and cold and salt are brutal on their feet. I made these boots for my Min Pin. He recently had surgery on his front paws and I used the boots to keep him from licking his bandages and to give him a break from wearing his “cone of shame”. They worked like a charm and his vet was really impressed with them too! Thanks for a great tutorial.
I'm so glad they worked for you.
Put some painter’s tape on the bottom of your presser foot to prevent it from sticking to the rubberized fabric. You can also use a Teflon presser foot.
I have made your dog boot pattern… EXCELLENT….thank you!
Yes best ever made some today put them on my dog had them on for over 1 hour walked comfortable and kept them on. Thank you so much
Love your confidence! Best dog boots in the world! Lets try!
How do you work out the right size and what size do you make for your dog
Really great video it turned out nice. Laura in uk
Thank you so much for your tutorial. They were so easy to make and they're amazing.

Thank you so much for this video, I just made a set. Now let's see if he will keep them on ahahha, fingers crossed.
He loved them, I've made 2 sets now, amd puppy has finally been able to go for a walk. I posted a short video, he looks so cute.
Yes 1/4 inch. Thank you
Where do i find the measurements of material that i cut out to sew
Description box.
They look amazing and thank you for your wonderful videos.
great demo!! BTW i have that same machine. it's been a work horse.
The guy I bring it to loves it cuz he can actually work on in instead of ordering new plastic parts that cost more than the machine
Love it!!
Do you have a video or photo of a dog wearing these boots?
I have this video on how to properly fit, apply and care for the boots. I hope this helps ua-cam.com/video/E849nmtsjeY/v-deo.html
This really IS the best I've seen! Your machine sounds like a beast haha like it could almost sew through steel. Thank you!!
Do you have a pattern,thanks
Not really, the approximate sizes of the fleece are in the description box below as well as the other videos on boot making, fitting and care, sorry I couldn't be of more help and sorry for the late reply
Can it be hand stitched?
have you tried a walking foot to attach rubberized fabric or even drop the feed dogs and stitch free motion
Love these. Your sewing machine is awesome. I have one from 1959. It's better than my computerized one. Can't wait to make these boots.
Love the old machines! Good luck with the boots!
Thanks 😊
I did this for my chihuahua and he looks adorable walking in thme
Where do you buy Toughtek non skid fabric?
Thank you for your helpful video❤️ February 24/23
You are so welcome

I don't sell them over the internet, sorry. I made this video so people can make them at home

I love making your booties for my service dog. Protects her feet in the summer and winter. Buying supplies on sale the roughly cost about $5 for a set. I DON'T want to make them for people, but how much do you charge? I tell a lot of people about your videos.
Thank you.

8 sizes … 3 x sm $24.00 all the way to 2xlg at $38. This was in 2022 so a little more now
HI There , I am making some now. Do you have a measurement of how long the velcro should be or do I just wing it ?
What kind of velcro is that mine is two parts
One wrap velcro
Thank you soooo much, awesome video, made the dog boots and they fit. Posted an 8 second video with my dog wearing them.
So cute, I just watched the video
Very cool! I need to make a pair... my Shitzhu was in serious trouble coming in from doing her deed this morning... 4 degrees F outside with snow... This was the first time, I want to make sure it is the last! Thanks for sharing cutie!
You can also make a little sock for you presser foot.🇨🇦
Thank you!
Sorry for the late response, but check out the other videos in the description box, I know its a pain in the butt, but making videos, we always seem to leave something out in one of them
what is the brand of the rubberized fabric? where did you get it? Thanks.
tough-tech
We have 2 shin tzu 10 lbs dogs, what size would I need..
I can't seem to find the "description box" Where is it located? Thanks :0)

Have you ever tried a lining to give extra warmth or does it end up being too bulky.
I haven't, but I think, like you mentioned, it would become too bulky. Keep it simple

How large height wise did you make the piece for the reinforced toe? Also so have you tried using a teflon foot to sew on the rubberized material? Can wait to try to make these boots!
The toe is about 1/4 of the length of the fabric.
I love your video, and I am planning to make booties soon. Regarding marking the stitch line, I will try using my tracing paper and tracing wheel. I don't sew very often so at least they will have a use again, if that works. Thanks again!
I hope to hear how they turn out. Good luck and thanks for watching!
can I buy a pair from you by chance
I've seen both videos on making the boots but the link for the video on fitting the boots doesn't work. I get "Oops, something went wrong" when I click on it. It shows a disconnected horse (midsection missing) image.
Me too.
Can I order?
Thank you
What size for a 15 pound cavalier King Charles spaniel? Thanks. Great video
Thank you, please check the description box below the video for sizes
The same width as the fleece
Thank you. I’m sorry, I guess what I meant was the length of the toughtek for the reinforced toe. I apologize for the confusion.
About 1/4 to 1/3 of the length of the fleece
Great video. Get yourself a teflon foot. It works wonders on fabrics that are a little sticky like vinyl, rubber, etc.
What if you place the scotch tape on top of the rubber-fabric to make it more slick so the foot can slide easier
That may work also, thanks for the idea
Ducttape206
It should help you on rubberised surface it also works on faux leather or suede as well as helping if you use very fine materials like tulle etc plus the fact it pulls off easy but don't use duct tape or electrical tape as they have a different type of adhesive
Awesome works, thank you🙏😘
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks for the great video!
Wonder if using hot glue (really thin bead) would help? Also, when you stitch the long part of the bootie first & have a few stitches in, wouldn't the machine not make the heavier materal slide out of place. Oh and stitching the Velcro, an X would make it even stronger.
Oh and how do I work out the size of the black fabric?
same width as the width of the fabric and about 1/3 of the length for the bottom and half of that for the top
Thanks
Oh, one more question. What is the size of the reinforced toe piece and the paw piece you sew on?I will try and make them from there. Thanks again.
Thanks
I can't find your sizing videos...can you email me? Catherinebeckstein@sbcglobal.net
I thought you made and sold your own dog boots, but I can't find a link. Unfortunately, I don't have a sewing machine.
Love the new way you reinforce the toe 😍
Thanks, customers really like it too
Do you sell these?
Only if I do a custom fitting, that is why I made these videos showing people how to make them. so sorry
You can use a walking foot to keep the top fabric feeding through the machine evenly.
Tried it, too many layers, but thank you for the idea
Oh my gosh PetPrepper, these will be perfect for our 10 yr old boxer that has DM (Degenerative Myelopathy) I will be making these as soon as I can find the new toe fabric. THANK YOU THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got everything I need to make the boots except for the non slip fabric. Do you have a site where I can order it?
Are these boots good for hot pavement? Or just the snow and the cold?
Hot pavement also! People have been begging me for years to make boots for the hotter states and I keep telling them these are perfect. Dogs sweat through their paw pads and the amount of fleece between the pads and the Tough Tec is enough to absorb the sweat. Have a lot on my plate, but am looking for a hot climate enticing friendly looking fabric to use to sell in the NICE states!
Have you considered a heavy duty nylon mesh fabric like we use in sandals?
Sizes of fabric would be helpful.
Even just one size would give a starting point.
The sizes are in the description box
Pet, I think your video is great and I am going to give it a try. Abouts how long to you think the velco needs to be for the 12-20 pound size? Oh, a teflon foot might also do the trick on the Toughtek :)
Sorry, I was Ice fishing. Take the width of the fabric and double it, that will give you the velcro length. Or just watch the video again, I think I demonstrate that part. Good luck and most of all HAVE FUN!
have you ever thought of doing plasti dip on the bottom of the shoes?
Yep. Did that for a couple years 2 years ago. Too much work and money for the profit.
Looks comfy enough to wear :)
Haha, I can make you a pair if you like

You won't be disappointed! He was my savior when I had pigs and his channel is so interesting. Great guy!
Love the improved version. Looking to move back to Ohio and will need boots for the snowing winters! (wondering if a walking foot would help the fabric not stick/bunch).
Yay, thanks and thanks for the tip, someone else suggested that and I had no idea what that walking foot was. Thats why I love you guys!!!
HOw do you fit the boots to your particular dog??? The video you promised would do this has a broken link.
The link works just fine for me, please try again, sorry, not sure what went wrong, I haven't heard of anyone else having any problems.
Can’t find this fabric ??
Which fabric? There are 3 of them
So....the boots are great but I just want ask you one question.
Where can I get the pattern?
There is no pattern, just watch the video, read the description box and you will be set!
Thank you, is grate idea strengthen the part of the nails. I love this boots. thank you again
And thank you for watching.
also when I made these I cut up the blue waterproof gloves you find at home depot. they have the same texture. we use them in the scuba diving dry suit world about $5 pair. I like your fabric choice better.
That is a great idea for folks who are just making one set. How did the glove fabric hold up to the stitching? Some of the rubber fabrics I have tried seemed to be weakened by the stitching and wouldn't hold up.
seems to hold up pretty good. I have an industrial machine so I used better thread. your directions were spot on. I like your idea of elastic Velcro.
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
