Yeah I recommend that every new player finish the DLC before attempting the final loop, it answers so many questions plus I love how the Prisoner is incorporated into the existing ending.
i didn't think it was possible for this type of game to have such an amazing dlc, to me this game represents what the future of gaming could be its so deep and true to itself
12:20 broke me in tears. Just when i tought i had cried enough with the main game. IDK why, was just the breaking point where i couldn't hold it anymore.
Blowing out the candles in the Prisoner's grave actually made me tear up when I saw the people in the photos disappear after. "The Dream is over. Only by letting go of the past can there be new beginnings. Wake up. Wake up."
@@lonewolfhero3526 New Vegas always seems to pop up when I least expect it! What a great game. My assumption is that this is from dead money, do you remember who said it/wrote it and where?
I love how no matter how many times someone does the ending, they always stare at the eye from the vessel for a couple of seconds. This view is majestic and scary at the same time, to me it's the best summary of this entire game
i haven't cried from any form of media in a long time. Last night, I bawled my eyes out to this ending. Even now just thinking about it gets me choked up. This game is such a masterwork and I'm both blessed and honoured that I get to exist to experience it.
The game already felt complete by the end but the dlc really gave me a sense of closure to an already phenomenal story. It felt like I could put the game down now and be happy with the experience i had with it, that the developers were giving this beautiful world one last journey before the end. Great game and the soundtrack will forever be engraved in my heart.
It's such a small touch but I absolutely fucking LOVE how after the music fades out at 17:10, you are left in silence as you take two last breaths. The orchestral music and big bang are a bombastic finale, but the last thing you are left with is all that being stripped away for one tiny, fleeting moment. In that moment all that is left is your breath, the essence of your life, as the explosion consumes you. Your life acts as the bridge from one universe to the next. The term masterpiece is wildly overused these days, it's true meaning lost in hyperbole and embellishment. But I truly believe Outer Wilds to be a masterpiece, as it is overflowing with these inspired design choices. Mobius really made something special here. Something that has touched so many of us. Thank you Outer Wilds!
For some reason when i talked to the prisoner during the eye of the universe ending he just fucking vanished. I didnt get to hear his instrument during the ending. This is after i spent the last hour fumbling to repeat the eye ending and failing in dumb ways. Thanks for uploading this, I really wish i got to see the prisoner play the instrument with my own eyes but i just wanna go to bed lmao
It depends on what you say to him. You can either tell him to join you, in which case he will, or you can tell him he’s done his part, in which case he’ll vanish. Because given what his kind did he’s not sure if you’d want to remember him.
When life is hard and everything seems wrong and pointless, I remember that this exists and that art and beauty is still in this world. Thank you Mobius ❤

The beautiful thing is that you're not obligated to finish the game. Once you understand what you have to do to break the loop and find the Eye, you don't have to do it. You can let the loop run indefinitely, grill marshmallows with Slate, listen to the Travelers playing music... You can live forever in those 22 minutes. You can even put the controller down, turn the game off and let the universe be. But if you want to complete the game, you have to accept that this universe has run its course. And that's Outer Wilds' whole message: accept that it's the end. You can't finish this game until you understand what it's trying to tell you. And as you complete the game, you the player get the reward of completing it. But the Hearthian gets their own reward: to see the birth of the next universe.
This is what DLC should be. It makes what feels like a complete game feel more complete.
