This video WAS MADE FOR ME!!! As a therapist, I love that you're speaking to us in a way that does not lean into shame, but just a gentle guide in a different way to think about things. ❤
Love your style! I also rock the buzz cut and I feel so free and feminine. I shaved my head as part of my minimalism, and wanted to wear all black or neutrals but it just goes against my vibe. I love fun patterns and colors! For my personal style I like to pick tops and dresses with patterns with several colors in them and then I just interchange it with different color sweaters and cardigans so I can wear one dress with MANY sweaters or cardigans that I've collected over the years that go with that one dress/top. I think I can get my closet down to several dresses and a few tops that I really like that have multiple colors within the pattern and then pick out the cardigans that I actually like to wear. This video will help me declutter my closet but keep it "me". 🧡🎨
Tashira, I thought we were friends in my head! But after this vid, I don’t know. Why you all up ova here in my closet? Yes I’m a maximalist, yes I bought the silver bomber jacket! I’ve only worn it once but I can wear it 3 ways. I have plenty of basics and staples in my wardrobe, and I have plenty of clothes with tags in them! ✅✅✅. I can’t find a thing to wear in the morning. Please make it make sense! Whew chile, I needed this video! I decluttered last year when I moved in my house but desperately need to do it again!
It may help for you to ask why you shop: if it's for the jolt that novelty gives, it can help to rotate your wardrobe seasonally, even if you live somewhere without big seasonal changes. I do this by only wearing navy and yellow in warm weather and burgundy in cold weather.
Decent cheat code that I used: choose an accessory. A pair of shoes, bag, jacket/coat etc. with a pattern/color palette you love. Then build your wardrobe around it. In the beginning don't buy anything you can't wear with that accessory. As your wardrobe expands, you can shift the rule to making sure what you buy goes with at least 50-70 percent of your things. Obviously make sure the accessory you choose is lifestyle appropriate so you don't end up with a closet of stuff you can only wear on a few occasions. But I find this to be a solid method for building a more dynamic adventurous capsule.
I bought Angelus paint, and now custom paint my own shoes / boots and belts. I only have 5 colors in my wardrobe, and my accessories match perfectly so I look so polished and put together, but it's so stinking easy and lazy!
Maximalist here.🎉 Love eclectic pieces and a good sale hunty! Just recently wore a gold sequined skirt for my bday that I've had for 10+ years with the tag still one. I usually donate easily, but refill soon. As I'm changing and growing in this here 2024, I declare that my closets and basement will be thinned out. Thx for the content.
Maximalist here. Married to a minimalist thankfully. I wear it all. My rule is wash and don’t iron or store in a separate area until the rail is empty and then get it all ironed and start again. When I travel (3months carryon only), I come home and hug my clothes first . They are the only ones I miss when I’m away
Half of my life I had just a handful of clothes because of my narcissistic mom who also told me how ugly I was. Later as a young couple and family we had no money... In my 40s I started to Glow up. Buying cool clothes, 2nd hand shopping, recovering from my childhood, becoming self conscious. I'm 50now and love fashion, colours, statement pieces but also knowing and wearing nearly all of my clothes. You are my inspiration, cause I have enough of minimal capsule wardrobes, I love to have plenty of gorgeous clothes 😘😘
This has been in my spirit so heavy! I love a closet that I simply love. Simple but extra! I grab an outfit and just go BUT I’m still killin it because it’s a curated closet. I literally just parted with bags of clothes and shoes to my nieces. And I feel so freeeeeeeeee
I'm not gonna lie. I said I was gonna stop buying stuff for a year, but I gotta get these bronze boots first. They just went on sale. I need them. I swear. 😂
Yes! I'm a maximinimalist, and your rules make so much sense! You are so spot on and I'm subscribing. I have a colorful over-the-top wardrobe that I have put so much thought into, and it looks quirkily stylish. Nothing is trendy at all, because my figure and joy don't match the modern aesthetic. But I also only keep clothes that look freaking amazing on me, nothing meh, and that I wear a ton. I only buy 5 colors that look great on me, make me feel happy, and work together. I also tend toward clothes that work at a wide range of my sizes, especially wrap dresses and blouses, which look good on my figure.
This is definitely how my closet is built! I only have 35ish items of clothing, but they’re all colorful and have bold prints. Thanks for the ideas! :)
Where all the ‘MORE IS MORE’ style girlies at 🙋🏽♀️ What a great video idea! Thank you for this cause I was starting to feel a way 😂 Ma’am, I’m loving color on you 🥰
I was just thinking of fashion icon Iris Apfel this morning and pulled up some of her looks online. She'll be 103 this August and is still looking great. Curation is important. My OOTD today was from my curated wardrobe going back to 1989, but today's pieces were from up to 20 years ago. Today, I was in a Burberry mood; cotton plaid short skirt, long-sleeved V-neck top, special edition black quilted jacket lined with leather on the zipper pockets, mini plaid crossbody vertical bag and then I threw on my Jordan 1 Low SE, black and white Pandas to mix it up. I went to Nordtrom and was in the Burberry section and the sales person thought I was wearing current pieces. She was also wearing Burberry, but current Burberry. And there was a salesperson in the handbag section also wearing Burberry and commented that we were twins. But, her pieces were current ones and she was shocked that mine went back as far as 2 decades. Some pieces are evergreens and it's good to invest in some evergreens in a capsule wardrobe. All of my Burberry pieces are evergreens. As for fashion, I have a revolving door of styles as I like to keep it fresh and mysterious. LOL! But, within those styles, I try to buy very high-quality pieces and ones that I can bring out many years later and just restyle them making it easy to shop my closets. Greetings from Los Angeles
I think I’m a recovering maximalist. I’m loving the idea of knowing what I’m wearing & since watching the channel I’ve grown in my intention for my style . Thanks 💜🥂
Hello, I am a maximalist , however I feel I have a curated wardrobe which I have curated over my years of working and am now retired. I shop my closet and usually can always pair items to keep my looks updated without having to buy new, I always applied the principal of 3 ways to wear it, from my beginning days and it has worked out well for me. The areas I spend the most in is the special occasion wear , outer wear and foot wear. Skirts and suits I wore in my corporate days are still viable and I wear them. corporate pants and blouses, I still wear them. Sweaters, of all types are the items that update and renew the aforementioned items. I do toss worn and ill fitting pieces but because I was so selective in my youth the items I tossed have usually already been replaced by an updated version that still meets that wear with 3 other items rule. Being selective in your youth will provide you with a beautiful wardrobe with just about everything you will need for any event or life style.
Yes! This makes so much sense. Especially the idea of guardrails. I always love all the things, but when I give myself limits, I can be so much more creative and unique. Thank you for this awesome video!
What did I do to you for you to lay my business in these streets?! Whatever I did, I’m sorry!! But this is good sis!! I am a More is More gworlie and this is giving me a jumpstart to get my life this year so my husband can get back in our walk-in closet. He may have to send you a Thank you gift. Lol
I am not a maximalist (anymore - I need minimalism to heal my relationship with luxury shopping lol), but I enjoyed the video and saved it for my coffee and breakfast before work. I loved the take on this kind of capsule.
I like the minimalist style, and I plan on declutterring my wardrobe much more after winter, but I want to make my basics more interesting and not boring. Mix it up the pieces by wearing them with something unexpected. So these tips are helpful.
I think a lot of us maximalists hate buying basic because they feel boring, at least to me. I try to keep a “capsule” wardrobe of basics to pair my wow pieces with. I keep my basics capsule in a different part of my wardrobe (white tops, denim and black pants and skirts, denim dresses and black dresses) pick my hero piece each day and walk over to the capsule to style it most days. This works for me but I don’t see myself restricting the amount of hero pieces in my closet anytime soon.
Hunny, you just gave me the talk I've been missing. I love to put the thing on, and in my previous life, I had the opportunity to. Now, mixing in being a wife, AAU mom, and small business owner, my wardrobe has pieces I've collected, but I really just need some cute athleisure pieces. But, imma hold on to those pieces for the scheduled date night🤗
as someone with minimalist style with maximalist tendencies (duplicates, 100 shoes) this spoke loudly to my. thank you for another home run video girl!
Thank you Tashira ! I feel like I just had a much need therapy session on my shopping habits. You broke that down beautifully and gave me a lot to think about while facing my closet 🤦🏽♀️.
This was a wakeup call for me been through my closet several times but after seeing this video I need to do it again with the idea of wearing it three ways ❤ the content!
Because how do these folks live with being minimalist?? I just can’t! But you made me think of some things I haven’t thought of and I so thank you for that! You were literally describing me ❤
1. I love the lip combo 2. The sale was made for me to save a 🪙 😂 3. Great video!!! I’m definitely not the person that has several items that I can wear the same way but some of these points hit home. Ie. Having a lot of basics & statement pieces Keep up the amazing content 👏🏾✋🏾
This is the video I was searching for without knowing all these years!!! Thank you! I love all the points you touched. Even though some of those don’t affect me, the others really hit home. I appreciate all the thought and detail you put into this video. I really am going to apply these tools going forward! Especially thinking of how many ways I can wear the items I have and new items I want.
I needed this. I was that then I got into the minimalism but I’ve always been a Color pop and print kinda girly lol but I was having things that weren’t interchangeable
Whew! This orange! I love you in kelly green, but the orange is also giving! You wear color so well. Love the eye makeup too. Gorgeous and great video!
Loved this video and all of the truth that came along with it! It definitely helped me with selecting pieces that I truly love over pieces admired for the moment". And the orange is gorgeous on you 🧡
You made this video for me! Idc you are preaching to me my things make me happy but Lord knows I need to reel it in organize & decide what’s excessive.
Exactly shopping for fantasy😂 as you gracefully age you navigate & lean towards statement pieces & ova dosing on accessories having No Boundaries … I hook it up !!!!
My "capsule" wardrobe started as a color capsule. I had to stop buying colors I wouldn't end up wearing. From there I'm now working on updating my essentials as they have worn out over time.
I love your channel! 🩷 I’m a 16 year old young woman and I’m definitely going through some wardrobe changes as apart of my maturity shift & your videos helped me with that so much 🫶🏼
This was absolutely me early 2023 before I saw the light! I had all these clothes I bought on sale, some that didn’t fit, had tags on them and had 1 basic black tshirt! I was lost chiiiiilee! I completely decluttered last summer and was shocked at how much I lacked basics to build outfits together. I’m so glad I’m delivered now 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ima still browse a sale but if I can’t make at least 3-5 outfits with a piece or it doesn’t go with anything I already have, I ain’t gonna be able to do it! I can’t just be collecting brand new clothes to donate to goodwill in 6 months.
Yes this is so me! My mom forced me when I was younger to always pick an outfit when I went shopping. Like you pick a top and bottom but a lot of times those outfits weren’t cohesive with each other. So then as an adult I continued this habit and not paying attention to what I’m buying in terms of what it will go with. Oh this cute shirt on sale, a bottom on sale, an accessory. Just a ton of stuff. I need the basics to plan these outfits together. I plan on decluttering this year
Sooo I've never seen your videos before but wow this was a great first one!! Love how you present the info, you're very relatable and funny too. Your tips, explanation style and knowledge are chefs kiss...new subbie 🙂
Thank you so much! I'm an aesthetic maximalist but I want to have a more minimal lifestyle. I'm not a neutrals person, and all the capsule wardrobes are like "don't wear more than 2 colors"
Well damn, why did I watch this when I'm supposed to be decluttering this weekend? Why? Because the damn closet pole in one of my closets had the nerve to break! My solution let's get a metal replacement--LOL! I have so many good pieces with tags tho'!! I'm on a no spend February so this is a good time to get this closet/room together. Thanks for the tips!
The once a year or twice a year sale get me every time. 🙃My road block is not knowing the Brands to stick with that flatter my body shape, repeatly. Too many one hit wonders. So I end up purchasing things that are flattering on the influencers I follow.
Great video and I love the 5 tips! I’m definitely a maximalist but can truly say I wear my things! Now I probably have too many handbags but that’s a different video 🤔 right? 🧐😂😂 Thanks for sharing! 😊❤

I love this!! No one offers tips for capsules that are interesting, colorful, personal and maximal. Thanks so much for addressing it in a helpful way!
I clicked in this video so fast. MA'AM THAT ORANGE AND CLEAVAGE. YESSSS 🎉🎉🎉💥💥💥

That Ooraanggee looks good on you girl👏🏾👏🏾

That's a great technique! I have a scarf that fits that bill for the summer. It's mostly white with colorful stripes.
I bought Angelus paint, and now custom paint my own shoes / boots and belts. I only have 5 colors in my wardrobe, and my accessories match perfectly so I look so polished and put together, but it's so stinking easy and lazy!
I love when you do color on your eyes 😊
Thank you, some good tips here!

I’d rather a CURATED and COORDINATED wardrobe than a capsule wardrobe! Great video
I'm not gonna lie. I said I was gonna stop buying stuff for a year, but I gotta get these bronze boots first. They just went on sale. I need them. I swear. 😂
I used to be a minimalist with under 100 items in my closet and I’m pushing 250 items and am having so much fun with color now! 💚
I’m a minute and half in and you’ve already spoken right to the depths of my soul. THANK YOU and now let me get back to the rest of the vid!

Felt attacked but this is the level of accountability I need in my life. Huge thanks.
Perfect timing for me on this video. I'll be watching this again and again.

Very helpful! I am forever donating things with tags still on them. I loved all 5 tips and am planning on putting them all to into practice.
Love this. It was definitely hard to hear but will definitely be worthwhile for my budget and finances too🤗
I love your channel! 🩷 I’m a 16 year old young woman and I’m definitely going through some wardrobe changes as apart of my maturity shift & your videos helped me with that so much 🫶🏼
Love this for you! Keep it up mama ❤️
Whew this was good! I love the content .
The can you wear it three ways is hitting. I do notice that I gravitate to the same colors. Which can be helpful. I am working on getting more basics.
I needed this! Have to get rid of those things I do not wear! Must make an effort to do it. Soon!!

It's important to know thyself. I'm a aries and a minimalist. 100 items in my closet but I'm gon pop out every time 🎉🎊
Thank you so much! I'm an aesthetic maximalist but I want to have a more minimal lifestyle. I'm not a neutrals person, and all the capsule wardrobes are like "don't wear more than 2 colors"
This was good!!! Are my pieces interchangeable! I love this!!! That is how I shop.
Chile this is me. thank you so much!
