Super cool that you thanked your ancestors, Jeff. They are surely smiling down, knowing all their hard work and sacrifice was worth it. Farm on, brother! Peter your excitement is contagious!! Great content!
Cant speak for him but i doubt so. He mentioned three passes which makes me believe they are all post seeding. But he did mention that the second application was liquid which would explain the higher yield. As well as the early sulphur application. That will do you a lot of good. But like he also mentioned, the best way to achieve high yields with cereals is watching them and knowing when they need each application, and the right quantity! Cant feed a baby a steak. And of course rain in the spring, that is everything!
If you are going to be adding expensive inputs such as fertiliser you need to be examining net profit per Ha rather than yield. Yield is not much help if you are going broke in the process. Chasing yield benefits chemical companies and their salespeople, not the farmers. That’s why they always talk yield rather than net profit for the farmer

Lodging is when the wheat falls down in the field.
