Iam from Andhra, when i studied my engg, in bangalore i used to see Telugu,Kannada and Tamil movies as well. I watched Gentleman on 3rd day of its release. When Prabhudeva comes for a song the entire theatre is dancing.
I backed to my hometown for holidays...when this film (KADALAN)audio released. But i came to Vijayawada to purchase thie film cassette( Vijayawada is 70 KMs from my village). No body knows Tamil in my region, But Tamil Cassettes they used to sale.
I purchased that cassette and back to my village.We have a small Taperecorder, but i am not interest to play these songs in that small tape recorder..because we already experienced ARR music by his previous movies....that too this film hero is Prabhudeva, so one can easily imagine how the songs were....So i want to listen these songs in a big deck, which usually middle-level hotels used to play songs...so i went to my Taluq which is 14 Kms....with my friends 3-4. We had tiffin and tea over there and i gave my Cassette to that hotel owner and asked him play...he saw the cassette and said..oh...Tamil Songs....we dont understand...but will play said... and he kept the cassette in the taperecorder and and now this is the first song played...in a big deck...i stunned for few seconds....for ARR slow music...after few seconds/minute.....actual song started...and the people who is there in hotel/listening from outside..are just shocked....what songs are these? which film? they just enquiring the hotel owner. he showned me and said he gave the cassette and playing the songs....I felt a bit nervous and proud at that time...and said it is one of Tamil film with ARR music....If you people belive that cassette is running from 10 30 am to 6pm...continuously ... Later i came to my village and i played in my tape recorder ...and gave to few friends in my village...
if you believe...after few days people are used to come to me asked for that cassette to listen those songs...even i too dont have with me to listen....
See thats the power of music....this is happened around 25+ years back...People they dont know Tamil....but they very much liked this film songs. This is a memorable incident in my life. From then after they used to asked me include that hotel owner do you have any new cassetted, i gave few like LoveBirds etc....but they dont like that...But later days were changed from this film onwards....producers are used to release telugu dubbing songs as well on same cassette release day.
