Hey man saving up for something makes it that much better once you finally buy it, even if you put like $20 aside every week or made small cut backs and it took you a couple years. That being said I've heard a few questionable things about Baltic's durability cuz I was looking into them as well. Have a good day man.
@jeanlefranc3817 ya but the styling difference between those 2 watches is huge not to mention one's a diver and the other a dress watch. I agree the ebrus is a great watch especially for the price but totally different. I see what's going on tho, ole Jody slipped you a few bucks to push his watch in the comment section 😉 you dirty dogs you. Have a good day.
@@trevorgray4852 I agree, the greatest thing about Baltic is their distinct retro modern design, very very eye catching and well executed, no microbrand had been this consistently good with each release design wise imo
@Crazy09starkillor ya its like art deco classy kinda but not over the top weird for the sake of standing out art deco. A instant classic. But like I said in my other comment I've seen more then 1 person report the watch breaking easily, I think Jody had one not working brand new outta the box. For that reason alone I'll admire from a distance.
Back in 1980 my dad made a film documentary about a new Finnish army recruit by the name of Ari Vatenen. My dad and Ari were mates during the Group B years. My dad was a sports journo for the BBC. He's not with us any longer but I can hear him now trying the ponce a "press demo" unit of this watch. As a boy I went with my dad to many of the worlds top rallies and met many of the then famous drivers; Ari, Colin MacRae, Michelle Mouton, etc etc. We even had the 6R4 on loan for a week or so.
Had the pleasure of meeting Etienne during his recent Australia visit, and for the most part, all we talked about were cars like two school nerds. Great guy and fellow petrolhead
I had a peugeot 406 coupe given to me by my dad. He had it from almost new then gave it to me when he was ready to move on. It was the 3ltr V6 engine variant. Beautiful. And | kept it that way until 2019. I had both a motorcycle (CBR 600) and a car from the mid to late nineties but both still outperformed most of the other like for like vehicles on the road. Sorry. Waxing lyrical about petrol headism Another love we have in common. Love the James Hunt T shirt too.
That's quite a package and added value compared to the 'regular' one. Most brands just slap some different colors, maybe a themed strap or something like that, hike the price 50% and laugh on their way to the bank. Well done Baltic!
Today I have been stood in front of one of these bmw M1’s in Monte Carlo. Video come at a perfect time for me to view 😁 petrol head myself restoring a Citroen axgt and currently exploring all things automotive in France. Great video
What a great watch! I’m a big motorsport fan so this really appeals to me. I can’t tell you how much I want a mechanical rally timer. Not that I have any need for a rally timer of any kind much less a mechanical one but that’s beside the point 😂 This set actually seems like relatively good value considering what you get.
I know the watch is the star here, but Ari Vatinen? The driver who made me yearn for a Peugeot 205 GTi, and now he's behind the wheel of an M1!? Absolute bliss! And the was something about a chronograph of some description too right? 😂
WHAT…….!!!!!!! No 24 hour dial…….waaaaa….😭😭😭😭…….(!!!Lol, 🤪😂🤣😅😆😜😝) Great vid Jody. I am looking hard at the Pitzman 3 and other < 40mm so this is looking good. I have a VJ 7750 type with a SW 500 & it runs sub 3 sec. a day fast so…….a great movement although the Queen of my chronograph collection remains my TAG Blue “Glass Box” 39 mm tri-compax with date at the 6:00. Hard to beat but sheeeese, so spendy. Great review Dr. Jody! Thanks
I really love the look and the whole package that Baltic put together. I ordered one yesterday from my local dealer- should have it next month. Agree with you Jody regarding the bracelet. Tried on the Tricompax panda at the dealer and it does feel rather delicate.
That original M1 just made me drool. I've some racing in my soul- dad raced American ARCA and SCCA back in the 1970s- and I've done a few laps myself. If I hit the lottery the M1 is about the fifth car I'd buy ('62 Porsche 356, 68 Mustang, 55 Mercedes 300SL, a 67 Olds 442, then the M1) but it makes the list.
I like farer's approach to bracelets where every model gets their own optional one you can buy in addition to the strap. Baltic seems to give the same flat link to their models, so the end links dont jive with the case much. This is a quibble, but I hate it when Seiko does it on higher tier models, so it stands out to me.
Watch aside, Baltic is playing their retro game brilliantly. Some interesting releases recently, very nice thing with the rally sponsorship. Rapidly entering the big game I think.
Hot take: Warranty length is approximately irrelevant. Other than a couple of times when there were straight-out-of-the-box manufacturing defects, I've literally never had a watch serviced under warranty.
Too steep for me, but I really like the watch. It is gorgeous with the pale blue tachymeter and the off white dial vividly featuring the blued chrono hand. The rattle bracelet keeps it like a 60s /70s vintage watch. Yep, it is special.
Hello, and thanks for this video. As usual with Baltic, the story telling is perfect and the Price is a bit too hight. But this chrono will be a complete banger, not doubt about that.
REALLLLLY wish I could afford a Baltic chrono-they are verrrry nice. Its great to know you're a petrol head, Jody-you can tell I am also into vintage auto racing by my pic (the great Jochen Rindt). Soooo, lets see an Erebus chrono up next after the Ascent! :)
Also, I think micro adjust is only required to allow in between links length, after that you just add or remove a link, so no need for 4 or 5 holes on the clasp.
Nice to see someone doing a mechanical chrono right WRT dimensions. 13.5/13.8mm thickness isn't bad at all considering that, according to Baltic, 2 to 2.5mm of that is down to the top-hat crystal. Overall, this one really reminds me of the current retro, manual chrono from Steinhart, only that Baltic have done it properly and have kept the thickness down. And you can tell how they've done it when you compare the two watches' side-profiles. The actual case part of the watch in profile is just so much thinner on the Baltic.
Very nice. The M1 was one hell of a car. I really like that bracelet. And I know it’s a special release, but it’s a bit expensive. Although cheaper than a M1. 🧐 Still trying to recover from the Ascent release video though…
Okay so it’s 2k plus but for me it’s SO worth it. A fantastic special limited edition that other company’s could learn from. Can you imagine just how much that would cost if it was a speedy! 😳
Lordy…not quite priced within my wheelhouse at the moment, but priced *very* fairly nonetheless - in fact, I was winching seconds before you mentioned the price, assuming it would be considerably higher.
Wicked review, I am surprised Baltic didn't use a 'rally' style strap instead of the suede version. Do they include bales for the two rally timers? I saw the bale holes in both stem necks. The stop watch would have one for hand timing from track-side.
Love the Baltic but a little rich for me. Given Jody is a self confessed motorhead should I save myself for the 3rd Erebus - a Motorsport inspired Chrono maybe..? Pretty Please....
If, like me, you could give two sh*ts about the dashboard timers, you could go for the Pitzmann III which costs "only" $1,399, is slimmer, and has the massively cool Seiko 8R48(NE88) automatic movement.
I have a question hopefully someone can answer for me. At 9.52 in the video, what is meant by "they can get away with a tachymeter bezel if it is a retro inspired watch." Thanks for any insight into this.
Ari Vatanen, was he the chap that got overtake by a Dutch trucker in the actual Dakar rally, on a straightaway, going 200+? What a moment that was. Jan de Rooij is equally a legend. Think "love child of" Babe Ruth, Chip Ganassi, Roger Penske. And Max Verstappen.
Nice piece although probably wont work on my 7.5" wrist. Love the rally clock set - I do after all have a 63 Triumph Vitesse 6. I also LOVE the NMW M1 - what a classic! At one point I seriously considered classic car racing but other stuff came up. Pity about the lume or lack thereof on such a pricey watch and 50metres water resistance on a supposed sports watch is basically pathetic. I'll stick with my Farer Berlina. Great review!
I wish I could afford Baltic, I really love their designs. Great blend of elegance and sport; this one is no different!

If you cannot afford Baltic, buy a launch price Erebus, my friend.

This is right up my alley! Nice to see more brands sponsoring motor racing.
As a fellow petrol head and automotive enthusiast, this watch is freakin awesome. The accessories they include are just icing on the cake.

I like that Rally timer

absolutely gorgeous. The rally timers are really cool as well. The price is well justified (not that I can justify it, personally, haha).
Got the email from Baltic the other day. This is my dream watch at the moment. I would easily take this over any of the big brand chronographs
For all the care and effort put into the package your getting value. Plz more like this Jody.
🎉🎉We need more of these! Out of the norm design!
Glad to see baltic going down to the motosport road, really hope to see more of these from baltic!!!
Today I have been stood in front of one of these bmw M1’s in Monte Carlo. Video come at a perfect time for me to view 😁 petrol head myself restoring a Citroen axgt and currently exploring all things automotive in France. Great video
I'd just about forgotten that amazing Pikes Peak film! Off to watch it right after I get through yours. Thanks Jody!

That was rather emotional, I have to say. Very attractive devices for sure.
Very cool watch from Baltic, they are doing home runs lately
13:48 that Rover reference hit hard.
Sadly I’m old enough to remember when retro motorsports with Ari was just called Motorsport 🤣🤣
I think that package as a whole is rather incredible. Everything is spot on!
Baltic is one of my favourite brand ! Nices designs !
I bloody love this. I want one.
I know the watch is the star here, but Ari Vatinen? The driver who made me yearn for a Peugeot 205 GTi, and now he's behind the wheel of an M1!? Absolute bliss! And the was something about a chronograph of some description too right? 😂
Stunning and a bargain 👏👏👏👏

I have smoked too much cannabis in life. I misread "Every Petrolhead's Fantasy" as Every Potheads Fantasy and got excited.
Ha! Sorry mate. That probably doesn't involve Ari and an M1.
It IS April 20th, after all. Easy mistake
@@balsamfur1148 haha

Good thing you didn’t read Jodi’s t-shirt wrong 😂
I love it! Great video. This is so cool.

I really like your shirt. He was a great f1 driver.
That rally timer 🏁
Nice t-shirt; like the brighter background too ❤
One of the very few recent watches that has given me a proper lust. Unfortunately out of my price range but good God what a stunner.
Great review! I love everything automotive as well. Fantastic release
Love this especially as a whole package ❤
This is lovely, thank you for showing us!! 😎
I looked at the webpage to confirm - and based on the background images I’d be suggesting the colour palette is bmw m colours - not French Flag.
It is actually the colors of « tour de France automobile » that you can see also see on Ferrari « TDF ». We’ve explained that on our website 😉
Good value in my mind.
Pike's Peak Hillclimb. Just east of Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was a huge local event every year when I was growing up.
Watch aside, Baltic is playing their retro game brilliantly. Some interesting releases recently, very nice thing with the rally sponsorship. Rapidly entering the big game I think.
I’m not into racing at all, but this is a pretty neat tie-in!
Super cool, if I had the money to burn, I’d have those two clocks sitting on my desk and the watch on my wrist.
That car is a beauty. I like watches, but like cars even more! =)
Watch looks good, but the package as a whole is just awesome 😎
Hot take: Warranty length is approximately irrelevant. Other than a couple of times when there were straight-out-of-the-box manufacturing defects, I've literally never had a watch serviced under warranty.
Isn't the light biue/ purple/ red color combo in the sub register rather a reference to the original BMW ///M colors?
Came here to say the same thing. 👌🏼
OMG. I love it! Great vid. Merci Jody!
Baltic know how to appeal to our historical senses Jody.🤤😍👍🏼
great vid like always jodi
So cool, love it
That rally timer's clock/pocketwatch dial would make an excellent dial design on a 36/38mm watch. I hope Baltic makes something similar one day.
Beautiful
Too steep for me, but I really like the watch. It is gorgeous with the pale blue tachymeter and the off white dial vividly featuring the blued chrono hand. The rattle bracelet keeps it like a 60s /70s vintage watch. Yep, it is special.
That so awesome i want one so bad
This watch is made for me, except for one thing,,, I just purchased yet another car. That's what Baltic are competing with not other watches.
Love the design, but love what Nezumi does with my money and the automatic chrono better. Too bad, because this one really does look great.
Hello, and thanks for this video. As usual with Baltic, the story telling is perfect and the Price is a bit too hight. But this chrono will be a complete banger, not doubt about that.

BALTIC got a lot right with this model. I wish however for a different clasp and a flat sapphire crystal
Really nice package but I'll wait for pagani designs homage 😆

Lovely things.
Nice to see something a bit different, chronographs aren't my thing but I liked the pocket watch.
Nice t-shirt👌
As a Finn and with parents who have had a BMW 2002 since before I was born, I APPROVE!!!
Wholeheartedly!
The 2002 is a classic indeed
Baltic is a very desirable brand...
Baltic rocks. They have managed so far to keep a real enthusiasm that Bremont, for example, has completely lost.
love it want it
Love it, if I had the money I would go for it without hesitation
Nice Hunt shirt there
Lordy…not quite priced within my wheelhouse at the moment, but priced *very* fairly nonetheless - in fact, I was winching seconds before you mentioned the price, assuming it would be considerably higher.
Could the Erebus 3 be a Chrono????
Wicked review, I am surprised Baltic didn't use a 'rally' style strap instead of the suede version. Do they include bales for the two rally timers? I saw the bale holes in both stem necks. The stop watch would have one for hand timing from track-side.
How does this watch compare to the Pitzmann Chronograph in terms of value proposition? Also, Solida vs. Seiko movement? What's more desirable?
Love it. I think the bonus pack is a bargain. You're getting 2 more time pieces for 500 Euros!
Do you know what movements where used in the rally clocks? Those were so freaking cool!
I couldn't put up with the unsymmetrical fixing screws for those two clocks!
They are symmetrical to one another. They had to move one of the screws slightly lower to accommodate the restart pusher of the chrono.
Love the Baltic but a little rich for me. Given Jody is a self confessed motorhead should I save myself for the 3rd Erebus - a Motorsport inspired Chrono maybe..? Pretty Please....
Ari is such a beauty😍 Would buy this watch if I had the change to spare.. Torille🇫🇮
Thats not too bad at all. Nice one.
Verry nice! Maybe another Ari Vatenen watch could be a Manx Rally version, with "Dear God!" On the caseback.
...if you know, you know 👍
They should release the rally clock in the form of a watch. It's a lovely design!
BMW //M1 is my dream car but only around five were right hand drive :-( Gorgeous watch package.

Cars, bikes, watches and pens.
I would stick those timers on my brother's baby stroller 😁
Absolutely stunning watch! I don't see a french flag there at all though, wrong colour order.
As if being a watch aficionado isn’t eccentric enough…we learn Jody is a “historic motor sports” fan…
Maybe a top 5 affordable auto inspired watches video?
I feel like the kit for around 2k is a great deal
