Doug, you are one of the preachers I respect the most. I hope you get to read this. I've been having some problems with my faith. I am not a fundamentalist christian. I believe the Bible has truths to teach us to be better people. That being said, I have problems with the creation story, Noah's flood, and some other stories. My Mom asked me before she died, "How come you have turned against God?" My reply was, "God has never done anything to me to turn me against him." My problems are my own. In essence, I believe that the Bible has moral truths to teach us to be better people. I have a problem with people using religion as an excuse to be really crappy with each other. I believe we are here to help each other to make the world a better place for all, and far too many people in my experience are out for all they can get rather than helping anyone other than themselves. The other side of this is, I don't have evidence for a young earth creation. I don't have evidence for Noah's flood, and other things I could also name. I don't expect you to answer any of these. Those are most likely things I'll have to come up with for myself.

I wanted to bring to your attention something you may have overlooked in the bible which is when you become engaged YOU ARE THEN MARRIED IN THE EYES OF GOD. God does not go by the marriage certificate, he goes by your heart and when you become engaged/betrothed. The biblical example of this was Mary and Joseph and although they were only engaged he almost "put her away" or divorced her before he knew how she conceived. PRAISE JESUS!!

Why is it that during the old testaments time the people have many wives? Like King Solomon? Is God allowing that? And so is Jacob. He had 2 wives also.
It was not God's plan for humanity. Never in the Bible was ever recorded a happy polygamous marriage.. David had many wives and it ruined his children and his sons' perception on women. Amnon raped his own step sister and Solomon took many wived and concubines even more than his father ever did. This is just the example of one family. In short, it's not God's intention. But in His permitting, He showed the consequences when people go against His original plan.
Simple answer is because of sin, a lot of men behaving badly and pursuing their own will and as someone else here pointed out there were problems resulting because of it. As with all sinners God forgives those who seek His forgiveness. I still am going to ask that question when I get to heaven, as a woman I admit this treatment of women has been a source of confusion for me because it caused women pain and has influenced how some men treat them today. And, what day all the Leviticus Chapter 23 "forever" feasts point to - being "the day after Sabbath" as the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19) fulfills all these old covenant "shadow" feasts (Hebrews 10:1) .
5. SDA'S don't want you to know about the NEW COVENANT PRIESTHOOD or Levi covenant promise (Jeremiah 33:14-22, Malachi 2:4-7, 3:3) where GOD said He would take in "some" Gentile "priests" fulfilling Isaiah 66:18-21 prophecy - necessitating a "change" in the law to allow "some" Gentile priests:

6. SDA's don't want you to know the power of being baptized through the NEW ADAM (Romans 5:12-21) Jesus Christ and how we are no longer "under" old covenant worship laws (Romans 6:14-15, 7:6, 7:10-11, 8:2, 10:4, 1 Corinthians 9:20-21) and instead in a state of "GRACE" as long as we remain Holy.

Doug, you are one of the preachers I respect the most. I hope you get to read this. I've been having some problems with my faith. I am not a fundamentalist christian. I believe the Bible has truths to teach us to be better people. That being said, I have problems with the creation story, Noah's flood, and some other stories. My Mom asked me before she died, "How come you have turned against God?" My reply was, "God has never done anything to me to turn me against him." My problems are my own. In essence, I believe that the Bible has moral truths to teach us to be better people. I have a problem with people using religion as an excuse to be really crappy with each other. I believe we are here to help each other to make the world a better place for all, and far too many people in my experience are out for all they can get rather than helping anyone other than themselves. The other side of this is, I don't have evidence for a young earth creation. I don't have evidence for Noah's flood, and other things I could also name. I don't expect you to answer any of these. Those are most likely things I'll have to come up with for myself.

6. Protestants say "the Bible" is the final authority. As a result, it has led to 35,000 and growing "divisions" - as they each become their own "Pope" deciding what is correct or not. Conversely, we see Jesus Christ giving His final "authority" to resolve faith and moral disputes to His ONE and ONLY established Church being the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH per Matthew 18:17.
7. Protestants preach "Faith Alone". The Bible clearly rebukes this specific false teaching by stating in James 2:24 "NOT BY FAITH ALONE". Jesus Christ, the "Lamb of God" (John 1:29, 1 Corinthians 5:7, 1 Peter 1:19), is the true fulfilled "forever" GOD liturgically commanded "Bread of the PRESENCE" (Leviticus 24:5-9).
9. Protestants say Matthew 23:9 "call no man father" is an indictment against the Catholic Church priests being called "Father", while they hypocritically call their own biological father's "father".

Why is it that during the old testaments time the people have many wives? Like King Solomon? Is God allowing that? And so is Jacob. He had 2 wives also.
God allowed it and permitted it, but He didn't like it.
It was not God's plan for humanity. Never in the Bible was ever recorded a happy polygamous marriage.. David had many wives and it ruined his children and his sons' perception on women. Amnon raped his own step sister and Solomon took many wived and concubines even more than his father ever did. This is just the example of one family. In short, it's not God's intention. But in His permitting, He showed the consequences when people go against His original plan.
Simple answer is because of sin, a lot of men behaving badly and pursuing their own will and as someone else here pointed out there were problems resulting because of it. As with all sinners God forgives those who seek His forgiveness. I still am going to ask that question when I get to heaven, as a woman I admit this treatment of women has been a source of confusion for me because it caused women pain and has influenced how some men treat them today. I guess like me they were sinners but God still was able to use them, it doesn’t answer the question but it’s all I have as way of explanation so have to hold onto it trusting I’ll understand one day. 🙏🏻
