- The land of Britain was once considered a myth by the mighty Roman Empire.
To them, it was nothing more than an old legend.
This would change in the year 55 BC, when Julius Caesar set his sights on this fabled island and sailed towards its shores.
The historical discovery would end in defeat.
Almost a century later, the Romans found glory when Roman Emperor Claudius stepped foot on British soil.
Here they conquered magnificent castles and cities, and left their mark on the land.
They set their eyes on Stonehenge, using the sacred site for their worship and rituals.
Londinium was established, and the Romans seized control of the land.
But what happened next in the history of the United Kingdom? To understand the story of this fascinating land, we must start from the very beginning…
The United Kingdom has played a huge role in developing democracy, literature, and science all around the world. In the 19th century, at the peak of its growth, the British Empire was spread over a quarter of the globe. In fact, It was once said that the sun never sets on the British Empire, which is a testament to how much influence the country had on the world.
We will take a look right back to the birth of the country, which was to become one of the most powerful and widespread civilizations on the planet.

Well presented. However there’s a few inaccuracies but very close
You just skip straight from the fall of the Roman Empire to Viking invasion with no mention of the Saxon invasion, how they formed kingdoms or interacted with the Natives. It's not the "ENTIRE history" if you miss a key part.
Shut the f up what do you know
freshens and jutes and angles ??? or are you sume sort of Saxion supremacist ???
@@HNH421 🤣
@@HNH421 To be fair you dont ever hear about the Jutes and Freshens. And the Angles? Just stash them with the mathmeticians.
It was King Harold who was defeated by William the Conqueror, not Edward the Confessor who was busy being dead at the time of the Battle of Hastings. A minor point, but it needed to be corrected.

@@gothicgolem2947 11:34 "Bronze Alloy" isn't "rarer" than iron - it doesn't occur naturally at all.
Alloy means that it's a composite material (made out of two or more "ingredients"). And Bronze is an alloy made out of Copper and Tin.
Also
11:43 Tin isn't an alloy - it is a mineral that DOES occur naturally. Whoever made this video doesn't even know what the words he/she are using means...
So I wouldn't take anything that's said in this video too seriously.
Many of the pictures and video clips shown for the Georgian period were anachronistic depictions of the later Victorian or WWI eras. In the Georgian period, British men wore tricorne hats and knee breeches, not double-breasted suits and cravats. There were no steam trains or cars (Richard Trevithick invented the first steam locomotive in England in 1802). This was the era of the Caribbean Pirates and the American Revolution (which occurred under the third of four King Georges from which the period derived its name).
Steam trains didn't exist until the 19th century.
1802 is the 19th century

I saw caravels with the christian cross at the times Cesar at the begging ans stopped watching.
Also, many pictures are for the Persian empire. I believe the pictures should be either completely fictional or truly associated with that era/area, or people would question the content.
Entire? In depth? In one hour and 45 minutes.... brave. Oh and Edward the Confessor was dead when William invaded England in 1066.
@JackSonEFla2 The area where England is was completely water in 1065AD
@@JackSonEFla2 I'm well aware of that. I don't think that I claimed it did, so to be honest don't know what point you're trying to make. My comment was a correction of a statement made in the video. In addition you might want to read a little history, if you did you'd find that England as a unified state only came into being in the 10th, not the 5th century. Either way, Edward The Confessor was not King when the country was invaded in 1066 :)
England? I'm surpised it lasted longer than 10 minutes
@@boulevard14am I reading that right, did you really say England was under water in 1065 ad?
@@JackSonEFla2not quite England began in the 10th century as before that it was separate kingdoms

Love the videos, really well done
Would be happy to help with the fact checking. Keep going
Regardless of the few mistakes you made in this video I think it was a really good video. Don't listen to these people that bat you down. Your time and effort put into this must have been alot.
History that allows "mistakes" isn't history. It's just fiction. Presumably, kids might watch this video, atrracted by its high production value. This makes it even more important to check the facts. Divert some of the money devoted to slick graphics and smooth editing to better research.
Good job on the documentary. Don't listen to the haters that wouldn't be able to string even a decent 5 min doc together ❤
Hark at you "5 minute docs" ....... "don't listen to the haters" !!! Darling..... history matters. Honesty matters, truth matters.
Ok..... now, by revealing you have NO idea what the term "documentary" means ..... you have run into the wrong room with the wrong banner, protesting about the wrong thing stripping in front of the wrong crowd, thinking a comment that might raise the mood of an 8 year old boy who got laughed at for spelling HISTORY wrong at a spelling Bee.....will actually pump up amd revitalise the ambition of a serious group attempting to make serious films. Get dressed, cover yourself and stand in the corner with the D hat on. Tut tut ! After school.... write out 200 times "@Royftw left school at 6 to work in a mine, has never ventured further than his accent would probably be accepted and thinks Monty Python's Holy Grail production is a good documentary"
Why is necessary criticism being classed as hate. This is a very well put together show. There are good skills and talents being demonstrated here.... in making a film. It's entertaining. They have a chance to compete..... if YOU shut up and let them develop.
But .... how dare you label me as a person of hate to state the fact that this is absolutely NOT A FACTUAL DOCUMENTARY.... where the filmmakers excell in technical skills.... they fail completely in subject matter. And that means..... they won't ever get to their potential height (which is clearly evident here in putting it together..... they're in the running in terms of studio capability... but seriously flawed in subject boundaries) they will just be another insignificant channel IF YOU keep lying and applauding bad journalism and bigging up significantly shoddy work under the name HISTORY. You might he able to wander around being totally oblivious of the requirements for standards and truth .... but don't tell others to live as lazily disregardful as you. And NEVER allow yourself the courtesy to appoint labels on another person's soul. Hate is your word, keep it in your mouth for your own. You learned it and own it well .... a term you challenge with it seems..... more evidence of a naked fool who thinks Hogwart's SfW&W is a collegiate of Cambridge University.
Be honest.... try to .... it will build your soul - to congratulate good work (like here....is good work, but not encourage falsehood and praise claims as historical documentation record ...... for those who want to get our attention and love their work....post their work on an international platform .... they deserve to he told when they're seriously catering for Disney clowns only.... like you ! Nobody is intruding here..... they're up for it..... just you aren't. I hope they wrestle themselves to improve rather than accept your proposed level of achievement.
Brilliant show.....but it's not history and it's not a documentary .... Good or bad history doesn't exist.... it is or it isn't true.
Foolish to call people haters.... lazy comment.
Some people.... (perhaps countries with some 'history' deserve the respect to he recorded correctly.....perhaps other countries with less culture than a pot of yoghurt don't value history as much..... or worse, are stupid enough to accept whatever is placed in front of them at the time as absolute prima facie historical fact. ..... you actually must live close to Disneyland and have never managed to get beyond the reach of your ignorance to see the sum of all the world's values outside. ..... history. ... my dear, is not a colour choice in a box of condoms...... be mindful of using the word hate. .... it tends to catalyse offense and generate it's definition when thrown around.
Perplexed as to your actual capacity if you regard such folly as fact .... to think you even qualify to vote is mesmerising.
You do know that Storks don't deliver babies to doorsteps huh ? Surely someone gave you even the slightest start in life ???
Excellent presentation, thanks ❤🇨🇦🌎

Even though this may have a number of mistakes, as someone who has very few knowledge on the history of England this is great for introduction. I won't remember most of the details said, but it gives a global view and enables me to start searching on a lit of these topics one by one while having a more connected view of everything.
Thank you for putting this piece together, it is easy to watch and follow.

Very detailed and interesting video. Thank you for the effort.
One of the great mysteries is how did a tiny group of tribes on the edge of Northern Europe build the largest Empire in history and shape the modern world, it’s quite incredible. Another way to look at this is why didn’t India or China or another Asian culture do this first? They had great civilisations at least 1000 years before Northern Europe and much larger populations.

For our American friends, shire isn't pronounced "Shy-r", it's pronounced "Sher". That is all. :)
Also, WWII started in 1939.
Or maybe even 'Sheer' depending on which part of the country you live.
Haha great observation.

S-H-I-R-E
several issues here,
- No mention of British navy or 13 colonies, so this is really the history of England as a body of land and not the British empire.
- The first "Britons arrived in 8000 BC from Europe", but England was at one point part of Europe so that doesn't make sense, plus a few minutes later the video stats that there is evidence of tools going back 450, 000 years in Essex. it's almost as if you contradict yourself twice. *also, why the drastic jump in time?*
- there are timeline issues when referring to King Harold's defeat because it was William the Conqueror not Edward the confessor who defeated him. Edward was dead at the time.
- WW2 did not start in 1945.
- the photographs do not match the timelines.
- Margaret Thatcher was A Tory not a Labour party member.
- Bronze is an alloy, good luck finding Bronze ore.......I'll wait.
- England is referenced as Britain, UK, England and the British Isles.
- Terrible pronunciation.
- there are a few parts where the audio does no match up to the video.
World war 2 in 1945 made me laugh and turn this off

interesting but some key points keep myths alive, example you showed footage of 'Tower Bridge' building began in 1886 and opened in 1894 when talking about the Tower of London Started around 1078 and continues to get upgrades/modernised to this day
An additional point, Thames is pronounced "tems" not "fames". Alas, great video 🙂 x

Went from 950 thousand years to 8000 bc in a micro second, b careful when saying the beginning n time jumping like a delorean
Did he say "Saxons from Ireland and Scotland'? The Saxons came from northwestern Gerany & southern Denmark, the Gaels & Picts from Ireland & Scotland.😊
britain was hardly a myth lol People speculate and i Believe Great Britain is ''Tarshish'' from the Bible also another group of people from the Bible the Galatians, who conquered Asia minor were celtic Notice Turkey has bagpipes? Also theres pictures depicting Celts wearing Tartan or falnne l so lol Britain was a myth that sounds absurd
Nice jump straight from Romans to Vikings. Blanking out the : Angles; Saxons; Jutes; Friesians etcetera
Nonetheless, good effort for an American. Most in USA have ZERO idea about geography or history,
Plenty of Andersons Hendersons Saxon in Scotland and Ireland 🤔
Makes me wonder how things might have been different if certain events had unfolded otherwise.
They did.
That's the beauty of history. 😊

The strange video in the background, and the over the top music, are almost as crazy as the supposed facts in this video. It’s like a fever dream lol.
Make your own then fool
I live in Nottinghamshire England
We have Cresswell craggs with cave paintings and tools from around 20,000 years ago
Saxons didn't come from Scotland. They came from the area that is now Germany.
Scotland was made up the Picts (of the North)and Gaels (of the West and the Western Isles) and Brythonic tribes (of the southern lowlands). The Norse (vikings) and the Scots (from the north of Ireland) came along a good few centuries after the Roman occupation ended.
Saxons and Angles were the predecessors of the English.
I’m at the part where the Vikings are discussed and wondering what happened to the Angles? How they influenced things, how they pushed the others around?
Wherever you learn history, they let you down.
Then go make your own, don’t bat down other people’s work.
Great video, but the minor errors, they're great too lol. Keep up the good work, but there's still work to do. B+
this video needs chapters really badly
That was an incredible round up, well done. A couple of animation errors, but 10/10. Thanks for the hard work and upload.

Great video! Another small correction, when discussing the Five Boroughs of the Danelaw, Stamford was put really high up on the map (up near Scotland). In reality, Stamford is very near to the other 4 cities mentioned (South East of Nottingham).
Lies again? HDB Paris Cock Konek
Stamford is in Lincolnshire East anglia, very important area as it was the last place to fight for its own king.
Lincolnshire is very much not in east anglia
I thoroughly enjoyed the fantasy and magical story telling that was based more on the research of Disney cartoons than actual factual history. A great romp, some (to be fair) truths and facts DID get mentioned, but I wouldn't have thought garnered via scholastic research, more 'common knowledge' than .... errr.. what is now commonly known (and also wodly misapplied) a 'deep dive' effort into recordz with white cotton gloves mandatory ! Great show folks ... not sure why you chose some Maasai Mara tribal imagery to represent early Celtic farmers and agricultural advancement on Albion. Also...."drinking the milk of animals" I must say you surpassed yourself in comedic advancement in suggesting Rome abhorred the very thought when they take pride in the strengths Rome's very essence, Romulus and Remus surviving through fostered animal milk. Even 1000 before, animal blood and milk was understood by many to be the essences of life in early clinical and medical theory.
But.... you haven't claimed anything other than a good show and it is a great show. It's as desperately infactual as Monty Python's search for the grail but equally as entertaining. Good overall graphics, ennunciation, pronunciation and grammar is often revealing of inadequate language skills for presentation and evidence of a naivety through lack of international travel and absence of the required integrity to produce a respectful account of another country.
Try starting closer to home and close your scope in time spans.
The film is very good. Your approach is very bad. If you changed the title to reflect the fact that facts aren't the criteria.... you'll do well.
A historian would be in catatonic convulsions if they clicked this and thought such a lazy attempt actually got some people to believe the fun and japery as honest work.
Thanks .... 9/10 for amateur film making
U (for unmarked) for labelling this epic jaunt in fantasy as history.

Very detailed video. Nice effort, but has many misinformation. Edward the confessor is same period as William The Conqueror. I kinda miss the Ragnar Lothbrok invasion impact in the economy, and the aftermaths of Sons of ragnar invasion. Or the ruling out of Danes in the Edward period. Lack of information from the War of the Roses, and the Norman invasion. And especially the Boston Tea Party. Not mention the provinces Spice crisis. Although I really enjoyed the video. The Roman period is very good covered, just as the WW1 side.

Yeah Cromwell was tolerant to other religions. Ask the people of Ireland were entire Catholic cities were put to death.
Absolutely, foul man.
He expected a lot of Englishmen fighting against him, he was a religious zealot.
Sorry, typo, he executed not expected.
Cromwell was an obnoxious human being who murdered his way through Ireland and was responsible for approximately 150K of its citizens being sent into slavery in the West Indies. To say he was tolerant of other religions is completely stupid, ill-informed and a dangerous and callous rewriting of real history
