    I have been a fan for quite a while now. I received my new copy of Guitar Player in the mail today (50th anniversary edition). That's cool, knew this issue was coming soon. A picture collage of great guitar players over the years Grace's the cover. Then, "Wow, so cool, Gretchen Menn is on here!" Congrats!

    Excellent! Very sophisticated, fine dissonancy in the main theme, so good classical elements, lot melody ideas, fine building up, not a dull nanosecond! I,m so glad that You make instrumental music. Giant THANK for the JOY Gretchen! You not only rocks, but creates ART. RockArt.

    "Oblivion was not the promise." Indeed. A very sublime journey through light & shadow. The images Gretchen's song invokes are very inspirational and yet the undertow of menace is inherent. I really enjoyed Daniele's bass playing on this one. Everyone sounds so on point and the production is awesome. I always dig what Gretchen plays (call me a long time fanboy) and yet I must make haste and buy the album! Thanks to everyone's who worked on this super cool video and of course thanks to Gretchen for all the great music. ;-)

      Thank you so much! I am continuing to study composition and orchestration to get better at writing and arranging for other instruments. Glauco Bertagnin played the violin on this track and first violin in the pieces with string quartet. He is AMAZING (as is the whole quartet). You can see him ripping it up on some Vivaldi here, the day after we did some of his violin tracks: ua-cam.com/video/VJrhcbKqAu8/v-deo.html

    Excellent work musical, enjoy from the beginning the fuzz and mastery in workmanship, the part of the execution as a violin, by calling him somehow, is formidable along with tone epic of all work makes it imperative. Very well beautiful lady, again displays you his extraordinary talent. Excuse me my bad writing of their language, greetings from Mexico.

    Quite impressive. I listened to your interview with Jude Gold (No Guitar Is Safe Podcast) and the amount of talent you poured into this project (like writing for strings for the first time) had me amazed. Then come to find out this past weekend, at the Mr. Big show, that Zepparella is playing the Scout Bar here in Houston this weekend and I won't be able to make it! Totally bummed. Would've loved to finally see you do your thing in person. Oh well, some other time I suppose. Keep up the good work!

    • @gretchenmenn
      @gretchenmenn  7 років тому +1

      Thank you so much! I love Jude Gold's podcast and was so delighted to be on it. I appreciate the kind words about the album, too! Though I had written for strings before--my fist completed composition was actually for string quartet--I did make a concentrated study to improve my abilities. It's a lifelong path! Sorry to miss you in Houston, but hopefully next time!

    Amazing. I like to have music as a background, but this piece is one where I have to stop what I'm doing and feel it. "Listen" is simply too tame a word to describe how one experiences this....

    This resonates me like Robert Monroe's Hemi Synch .... look into the interior of the mind in different periods of history... is it ancestral? Alexandria? The 900 year school? The Acropolis? The Amphitheater? Coliseum? The high drama of the lions? The long boats on the bloody shore? The mysterious recurrent dream? Previous lives? More mugwort tea, please.

    Oblivion was the salvation sought by the suffering tormented souls that had dared to rival eternal life. "Look! Adam wants to be like us!" The over-soul exclaimed. Adam turned half away.... "No... only the demon rivaled God-likeness. Not I." Ah but yes you did... you wanted to live forever... like a god.

    If you were to change one single note of this song it would be a tragedy on the level of attempting to improve the works of Mozart or Beethoven.
