  • Let's try something different - these will be shorter videos highlighting one step at a time on the Kinetic Gold F/A-18A in 1/48 scale. Well, today's video is actually steps 1-3 but who's counting? Please let me know in the comments what you think of this format and all suggestions are welcomed!

The aircraft is now at the Fighterworld Museum at Williamtown - both an RAAF base and Newcastle's domestic airport.

This is a really useful series. I have the CF-188 boxing and I have been a bit intimidated to start it due to the many problems I've heard about. Your series is helping me pre-plan my build so I can hopefully overcome what ever issues pop up as I go through it.

@@MisterGsWorkbench Will do. I'm a novice as far as aircraft builds go but I really love the F/A - 18 so I figure I need to just work through the challenges!

Wow! That’s great Mr. G! Looks like it’s coming along well and the video was really good. I agree, the step-by-step is a good way to go. Not too much. I can’t wait to see you get started back on that Schnellboot S-100 class. Also, the Flying Fortress. Don’t give up! Looking forward to your next video.

I'm not a fan of stark black in 48th scale anyway. I think the deck looks great ! Again, i don't own a kinetic kit so this is also a kit unboxing video to me. I like what i see. Looking forward to the next step.

The new color on the rear deck is growing on me - dark but not black...

War-am-eye. Worami is pronounced war-am-eye. It’s the name of our local tribe, the traditional custodians of the land where the aircraft was based- Williamtown, New South Wales. It’s not a tribute to Len Waters specifically, because he was from another mob. This aircraft was actually called “Worami Dreaming” as a tribute to all indigenous Australians. I’ve worked on the actual aircraft, by the way. It’s one of my favourites, too.

The rear deck behind the avionics bay looks about the right shade- They’re coated with lots of dust. The hashed square immediately behind the seat is the avionics bay- They’re actually a well with a steel mesh net cover with Velcro around the perimeter to act as a static shield. We don’t bother trying to stretch them closed. They don’t fit too well...

Hi John! First, thank you very much for the information and insight into this aircraft. Apologies for my pronunciation and any misinformation - I did my best to research the story but obviously fell short. I'll be sure to correct the record in the next part!

@@johnmarley6695 Hi John - the kit is now boxed with the Worami Dreaming markings - I found it at Metro Hobbies in Melbourne. I think I will buy it as one of my RAAF jet collection (I have a F/A-18 F, but no collection is complete without the -A!. Also, thanks for your information, including the background on the name. Newcastle and Port Stephens are a haunt of mine.
