I did one more small run of Shadetree Surgeon/Brap Star shirts. Not doing these again, so if you want them grab em now! You guys rock! www.brapstar.com/shop-1
And here I just picked up MY 40+ year old Honda. The 1982 GL1100 GoldWing in the "rootbeer" colorway. The Rootbeer glide! The PooperScooter! The Merlot Monstrosity!!! Good times ahead!
Another great video and what an adventure! I’m a truck driver and yes the engine break is used to save your brakes from over heating and setting the trailer on fire. Lol!
Engine braking is necessary to prevent runaway trucks. Given the weight behind the cab on a downslope it's magnified and the truck brakes will NOT stop the truck. On a downslope with high, really any weight depending on the slope, behind you your brakes will last maybe a minute or so before they're worn to the metal. In lower gear the engine keeps the speed lower to avoid getting pushed to a dangerous speed. You also have to shift down before the downgrade. Trying to shift as you're going down means you're likely not finding another gear and we're back to a runaway truck.
In 2007 I loaded up a 650 V-Star with the wife and I and rode from Wisconsin to NW Arkansas to ride in the Ozarks. It was the trip that made me decide to get a bigger bike ('08 Venture). I'm too old to do it in the time you do, but a few days on the road is great, hope to make it back down there some day.
It’s going to be more fun than you can imagine. That’s how it started for me. Packed a backpack in 2019 and rode my Triumph Bonneville 550 miles to Colorado for 5 days. Since then I’ve ridden it to 13 states on two, 3,000 mile trips. Just picked up an Africa Twin 1,110 which should be much better for crushing big miles.
That was a quick hour, what an awesome adventure for ST and army. Electric cars and bikes are cool but our infrastructure is no where near handling it all. Gas engines are here to stay for the foreseeable future.
If the boss allows ya to charge your bike at work, that would make it feasible. Then how could an employee be taxed for the benefit and receive a CO2 benefit too? 😊
Started watching your channel just about a month before your California to Florida ride. I first thought this guy is nuts and too messed up for me! But when you rode on a 40 year old thigh master 500 cc for $1200 you got my total admiration (not that its worth anything) but brother I watch your channel all the time and now your on it again. You are a trip! I mean it in a great way! Stay happy and keep those videos coming.
Man, Josh, this was an EXCELLENT video. It was so nice seeing you have a good time with all your friends out that way. You can see how much you are truly loved...honest. That little Silver Wing is all heart. This was one of your BEST videos. Keep it wired, man. peace
That lil 500 loves you for saving it from a life stuck in a garage collecting dust. I had an 84, was my 1st bike and it was as faithful as a Swiss watch!
Got my wrecked Valkyrie patched back together, & fixin to go on a road trip. She's got some battle scars now, but still a beautiful bike to me, & finally road worthy again. The best adventure bike is the one you're riding! Keep up the shenanigans Josh!
2:17 I was on a four hour rural highway ride last month with 30-45 mile an hour constant gusts (eastern Kansas/Missouri Border) and the temp was 42-55 degrees F and I was thinking man how did shadetree ride all night across the southern desert in a Jean jacket?
My first Iron Butt (1998)was on a Honda Silverwing 500 riding 2-up. If the bike was struggling I didn't notice it. You're right about the saddlebags not being quite big enough. I had backpacks strapped to the outside of the side bags and a bunch of camping gear strapped to the top of the gas tank. It was a great time and the bike never let me down. I don't remember the exact mileage but I know from Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Wichita Kansas seems really far and due to poor planning and goofing around it was on the second day that I had to do the Thousand Mile Stretch to get to my destination on time.
Loved seeing the Arkansas mountains.... I spent 30 years in the Ozarks... This whole video brought back tons of good memories. Always a good time to be had.
Fun channel I look forward to all your videos. My wife lived in Little Rock for 20 years. The weather can get a little rough at times. Good luck and clear skies. It's always good to see Mr and Mrs Onery.
Got to give it to Shade Tree, many motor tubers go off on new or nearly bikes of large CC, Josh shows us how touring can be done with an older and smaller bike. Simply AWESOME.
Missed the premiere and I agree the Tail of the Dragon is 11 miles of awesome technical curves. Been there numerous times. HOWEVER, the Triple Nickel, part of Ohio's Windy 9, is 92 miles of technical curves, exciting scenery and a part of 8 other awesome trails! GET YOUR BUTT UP HERE JOSH!
Literally going on my first 2000+ mile trip starting Tuesday. I definitely feel the 120 mile max per rest. Most I've done is 100 miles at a time and that was definitely good for me at the time. I've got highway pegs this time though. 🤘
I TOTALLY appreciate the fact you don't hold back the use of the word "wang". It's a funny descriptor that is in NO WAY racist. KEEP IT GOING DOOD...!!!
Thanks for the inspirational words towards the end Shadetree. Truly enjoy your long distance trips on your vintage rides. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Engine braking extends break pad life, maintains better control of the rig, and provides more combined breaking power. There is also muffled and unmuffled engine breaking.
REALLY ENJOY YOUR TRAVELING VIDEOS. JUST RIDING AND LISTENING TO YOUR CLEVER TALK. THIS ONE'S ONE OF THE YOUR TOP ONES. KEEP RIDING OUT OF FLORIDA BROTHER.
I’m excited about road trip taking in September or October depending on when job ends and taking first vacation in over 20 years. Riding motorcycle from Texas up across Tennessee down to Florida hopefully find find this crazy guy buy him a beer and a spicy pickle then ride back to Texas. We run 250,000 miles per year hauling food and general freight. Time for a break!!!
Talk to Mike yesterday. Headed down a coastal coast in 50 September. Then I’m gonna shoot up to Washington state. Come back through Grand Canyon and then over to Carlsbad cavern. Then come on back to Myakka city Florida didn’t know if you guys were interested. This here is myakka city rider. Going to try to do all of it in 15 days. Keep two wheels on the ground and stay safe
I'm only about 18 miles from Dollywood, probably 30- 40 mins for the Dragon... always welcome, got spare room and drive way for bikes and a beautiful view out the back window
Usually it isnt an explosion when the trailer looks pried open so clean like that. Fire that forced firefighters to cut the trailer open to extinguish the fire because a penetrating nozel wouldnt get the job done and the trailer was so packed that rear entry was not effective either..
I was in Eureka Springs in September last year. I drove my car, but once i saw how gorgeous the scenery was, i immediately regretted not taking my bike! Definitely need to take the bike next time i go there!
That Silverwing came from my home town on the California coast, it's born to go the distance, it's got a goofy foot surfers soul. CX/GL500/650 & the Milk Toast PCH 800 are my all time favorite Hondogs only after the 1964 Honda ct55 trail with 4 speed manual, the original & best selling platform for an adventure bike in the world with 100 million copies sold since 1962. Ride one of those ct55's across the US if your a real iron butt that's man enough & weight under 160 lbs.. Did a coast to coast LA-NYC round trip on the trail 55 twice 55 years ago. Did the same trip on Harley, Hayabusa, Goldwing, Guzzi & even a Norton 850 commando, but nothing compared to the ct55 for low speed, low key low brow fun.
The longest I ever rode flat out on my road glide was 500 miles in 9 hours and I was SORE. I didn’t take any breaks at all but I’m always impressed Shadetree can iron ass anywhere. Good on you guys
Man after seeing that little Turd Ferguson Cruise across several state lines it just makes me want to go for a big road trip sadly . I will just have to be satisfied with my weekend trips around the state . I will have to save my PTO time for a couple of months before I can head somewhere good LOL guess I will just have to continue living vicariously through shade tree
Yes Jake brake is to help truck brakes and prevent overheating from friction and brake fade.Brake fade is when brakes become too hot and no longer can’t handle the weight of the load.
I’m in greeneville Tennessee 40 minutes from Dollywood anytime you want to do the dragon you camp on my property and I can show you around there are a bunch off great rides here
Yup you got it engine brake to save brakes and not overheat the brakes and go for a ride in the woods …. Not recommend to push hard down hill. Great video!!
I sent you a package with some metal art I made for you and Cheyleesi, and the post office notified me you haven't picked it up and they will send it back to me if it isn't picked up by May 3rd. Please let me know if you can't get it or if you need the information to have it redelivered, etc. I spent a lot of time making the art for you guys and want to make sure you get it.
Shadetree I’ll throw this out there man .northeast Alabama dekalb county & Chattanooga Tennessee. around these parts has some great riding mountain roads.if you’re interested.
Hey Josh, I'm a trucker who works nights and every truck stop I go to late at night/early morning typically doesn't have hardly any hot food out. I guess they don't sell enough in the wee hours to make it worth their while
The cx Is renown for toughness, my mate did 128 thousand miles one one dispatching through all points of the uk, they're slow with...interesting... handling but they don't quit. In that 128k all be did was change the couch and can chain. It went on to do 250k miles before it let go.
Turd Ferguson just ejaculates power and charisma . ( all at a low flow dribble ) . Great adventure mate . You gotta ride in Australia if you really want adventure
Thoroughly enjoyed watching you two Florida Men being "smeared across the face of America!" Great episode and Adventure, I look forward to watch Mike's perspective on the morrow! This gives me the mighty need to check out the Ozarks sometime, love Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway but I need some new twisties to shred knobbies on! 😎
Need to haul that garbage up to Montana and ride some of our mountain roads! Alot of epic roads to ride up here you would enjoy like the Beartooth pass, going to the sun highway, are bucket list rides for many
You need to get yourself to the UK if you like old cities. There's ghost walks that you can go on that take you into hidden underground areas that used to be store rooms, underground markets, etc. Some places in older cities still look qnd are as they were hundreds of years ago
Yeah, but more importantly: The Formula 1 Grand Prix is coming to Florida: Finally you guys can actually see some real car races at the Miami Grand Prix Circuit at Sunday May 8th ! Nice motorcycle trip though.
Arkansas, one of this great country's most beautiful states. If you get back there check out the northern half where it's more mountainous. Also, a great ride is the "Crowley Ridge Parkway". PS, that outro was one of the highlights of my day. You've got a great sense of humor.
If you're ever in Oregon, look me up. I'll take you thru some of the best mountain roads in the country and treat you to cold beer and fish-n-chips in Depot Bay. We have, imho, the BEST coastal road ride, highway 1, in the country.
reason why the highway changes I think one is asphalt and one is concrete. Burned-out tractor trailer looks too be like a refrigerant trailer if the engine caught on fire if you don't safe your tractor that's what happened. If you catch it in time you disconnected let that trailer sit there and burn to the ground.
Holy crap i should have paid attention to the length of this video before I decided to try to lay down and watch your video before I go to bed lol already 30+mins in so no stoppin now
Always great to watch a swamp wizard adventure. If you like lil rock y’all will love hot springs…. Plan kind of my trip to the Florida keys . I’ll probably stop at the dirty shame to exchange wizards 🧙♂️ stuff 😉
So glad you made it to the Ozarks where I'm from! Would love to ride with you one day Shadtree!! I live in Nashville now, and know some great riding right outside the city.
You guys are smart.. I bought new motorcycles to take motorcycle adventures then couldn't take that many trips because I had to work all the time to pay the motorcycle payments.
Long time lurker, first time posting. Great video. I have an 82 Silverwing and love it. Have you ever thought about adding links to products that you mention in the video? The gloves sound great but the battery pack thing....I would love to find out more about it. If you ever get to Alaska, give me a shout! Keep up the great work.
I have yet to ride the pig trail, but its on my list. Will probably get it done when I do my ride the Ozarks series this year. There are LOTS of other fun roads, circuits, and locations up here. You should come up here again ;) I love the cathouse, and try to make it out there once a month in warmer weather.
I did one more small run of Shadetree Surgeon/Brap Star shirts. Not doing these again, so if you want them grab em now! You guys rock! www.brapstar.com/shop-1
😎💯✌️🦘
Do you have any 5xl shirts?
the only shirt I see on the website is the campout shirt? did they sell out and get taken down already??
This video almost made me unsubscribe... there aren't enough thumbs down for this! how selfish, self-centered, arrogant!
It's like Hunter s. Thompson and macho man Randy Savage had a love child and I'm all for it
Best compliment ever
I think you won the internet today😂👌perfect
😆😆 nailed it
Can’t stop now, this is Wawa country.
That’s it… I’m starting a band. Do I call it Pouch Pickle or Dick-Shaped Meat?
And here I just picked up MY 40+ year old Honda. The 1982 GL1100 GoldWing in the "rootbeer" colorway. The Rootbeer glide! The PooperScooter! The Merlot Monstrosity!!! Good times ahead!
Clingmans dome is a must, Cherokee nation forest, and wheels thru time. Whenever you get to the dragon
I love these road trip videos. Pure freedom.
Another great video and what an adventure! I’m a truck driver and yes the engine break is used to save your brakes from over heating and setting the trailer on fire. Lol!
This was fucking awesome, Josh. Loved the feature-length, the journey and all the shenanigans. This is the content I adore my man.
Engine braking is necessary to prevent runaway trucks. Given the weight behind the cab on a downslope it's magnified and the truck brakes will NOT stop the truck. Watching this gets me so excited for my first mini road trip at the end of May! A couple state lines and gas station hot dogs here I come!
Sounds good

Your first big road trip is always the most memorable.

If the boss allows ya to charge your bike at work, that would make it feasible. Then how could an employee be taxed for the benefit and receive a CO2 benefit too? 😊
Motorcycle’s should be exempt from the EPA!
What a goddam pleasure it was to wake up see an hour long video of shadetree on another awesome adventure, I love these long videos so much!
Agreed! It certainly helped distract from my shoulder pain this morning after my big dumb!
Thanks y’all!!

YES YOU WERE DRIVING THROUGH BIRMINGHAM! I live here! Glad your trip went well! These are the videos that inspire me to be more adventurous.

The amount of times you boosted the silverwing in that trip i think it qualifies as an ebike 🤣
Great vid
“Valet ooo very fancy, yeah go ahead and valet TURD FERGUSON.”
Loved seeing the Arkansas mountains.... I spent 30 years in the Ozarks... This whole video brought back tons of good memories. Always a good time to be had.
Great times! I love when yall post your different pov's of the same trips and the campouts too.
Fun channel I look forward to all your videos. My wife lived in Little Rock for 20 years. The weather can get a little rough at times. Good luck and clear skies. It's always good to see Mr and Mrs Onery.
You were ridin through Birmingham, otherwise known as the big ol salty Ham baby!!
Got to give it to Shade Tree, many motor tubers go off on new or nearly bikes of large CC, Josh shows us how touring can be done with an older and smaller bike. Simply AWESOME.
10 out of 10 on the pickle rant. 😅

If you can do a hundred miles between breaks all day, you will be lucky.
I'm just under a month out, two weeks on the road, 3000+ miles. Good luck
Just finding this video. This may just be my favorite video that you have done. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit, and post it. Made my day!!😊
I TOTALLY appreciate the fact you don't hold back the use of the word "wang".
Not to mention the extra braking needed for air brakes since you can't ride the brakes on those big rigs, especially on inclines.
Jake brakes are primarily meant to save your brakes from completely fading to nothing due to overheating, not to save brake pad.
Thank you Shadetree for all you have done for me. I’m eternally grateful for our friendship.
Dude you got me sold on the gold wings it's just a matter of time before my ass is on a straight eighties flock of seagulls style winger of my own!
REALLY ENJOY YOUR TRAVELING VIDEOS. JUST RIDING AND LISTENING TO YOUR CLEVER TALK. THIS ONE'S ONE OF THE YOUR TOP ONES. KEEP RIDING OUT OF FLORIDA BROTHER.
This was a great video, ur chopper trip video bought me here like 2 years ago ! Thanks for taking us with you

Engine brake or a Jake cuts cyclinder off to slow the truck. Yeah help save brakes. Lives too.
Dude, I had to watch this in segments today because I had shit to do around here. But I watched it all and enjoyed the ride. Top tier Shadetree video!
Small town. Awesome spot. Watching this makes me think about my own trip in July. Good share.
I’m gonna be in Alabama in a few days on a road trip, and then sneaking into the WANG before going up to Georgia, can’t wait!
I was in Eureka Springs in September last year. I drove my car, but once i saw how gorgeous the scenery was, i immediately regretted not taking my bike! Definitely need to take the bike next time i go there!
Motorcycles and UA-cam!!! Love it!!
This video is exactly what I needed today to start my week right
Glad to have been apart of last weekend man, it was a fantastic time
Absolutely amazing times my man!!
Man! This was a blast to watch. The Castlevania transitions are incredible!
I can't remember if that's castlevania 1 or 2
The longest I ever rode flat out on my road glide was 500 miles in 9 hours and I was SORE.
Yes Jake brake is to help truck brakes and prevent overheating from friction and brake fade.Brake fade is when brakes become too hot and no longer can’t handle the weight of the load.
jackeranda trees with their purple flower's little alley ways fun and merriment at every turn what's not to love about this video great job
Next time you’re in Little Rock hit up Lost 40 Brewery for lunch, brunch, or dinner. The Root Cafe for breakfast!

Yup you got it engine brake to save brakes and not overheat the brakes and go for a ride in the woods …. Not recommend to push hard down hill. Great video!!
Just picked up another GL500 for $400.00, Love these these little things. 😁👍
Yet another awesome adventure. And you are a real motovlogger to boot 👍
My dad had a cx 500. I rode it and know what you are saying about that motor. Great little bike! Fun trip there. Good Times were had!

That Walgreens line was hilarious!
I haven't been through Arkansas on I-40 since the 90s. Back then it felt like you were driving down a flight of stairs.
Turd Ferguson just ejaculates power and charisma . ( all at a low flow dribble ) . Great adventure mate . You gotta ride in Australia if you really want adventure
Nice video! Eureka Springs is always a good time. Maybe I’ll catch you on your next stay in Rock City.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching you two Florida Men being "smeared across the face of America!" Great episode and Adventure, I look forward to watch Mike's perspective on the morrow! It’s funny that shadetree has this fantasy that he’s a badass biker!
Awesome video Josh. Your narrative had me crying 🤣 Keep em coming!
I’m going on my first long distance road trip on may 1. Headed to California from texas. 1500 miles. I’m super nervous but it should be fine.
omg yes that jump starter battery i think everyone should have one
Yeah, but more importantly: The Formula 1 Grand Prix is coming to Florida: Finally you guys can actually see some real car races at the Miami Grand Prix Circuit at Sunday May 8th !
Nice motorcycle trip though.

The answer to your question about truck breaks is, all of the above. The engine breaks on a truck work like decell on a bike.
I’m loving the video game edits an editing! Awesome video as always shade tree!
So glad you made it to the Ozarks where I'm from! Would love to ride with you one day Shadtree!! I live in Nashville now, and know some great riding right outside the city.
Duuude what an awesome video!!!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 had a great time with all of yall
Thanks again for everything man, we had such a blast!

True inspiration Shadetree ✌🏼 big love from Portugal 🇵🇹
