    So Asuka is a wild one, he is the supreme mage and scientist of the world and once the apprentice of Happy Chaos (before that one lost his fucking marbles). Many of the conflicts and plots are caused by his experiments. In the song we see him start asking very deep questions about existence only at the end to realize that he should leave the Universe do his own thing and embrace the inherent darkness of the mystery, after all, it seems that fate acts like gravity.

    Asuka is basically the entire origin of the plot of Guilty Gear alongside Happy Chaos aka The Original, the Origin of all Magical Theory in the world. Asuka and Sol were colleagues, along with Sol’s wife Aria, and in their time together Aria was diagnosed with a terminal illness.
    The three of them had already been tasked with creating the Gears, so when the military started taking over the project to use the Gears as a weapon, Asuka implanted Sol with Gear cells to make him immortal while also giving him the Flame of Corruption, then took Aria and went off to seemingly work for the military.
    Behind the scenes though, he’d use Aria to create Justice, essentially curing her. Sadly, it backfires and the Universal Will corrupts Justice to declare war on the world. War stuff ensues, yada yada, and soon enough Sol is forced to kill his wife by killing Justice. During the war as well, the Universal Will had also threatened to turn all of Japan into Gears, so Asuka had also been forced to laser nuke Japan out of existence.
    Because of all of this, Asuka became the most wanted man by the world and even his friends. Some want revenge for creating the gears, Sol wants revenge for the whole stunt of what Asuka did to him and Aria, and some want information from him since he has a book that contains an insane amount of information on the universe via the realm of information. This led Asuka to being known as “That Man” due to everyone knowing that one person did the crimes, but nobody knew the identity of the person.
    The song itself is all about his existentialist questions. Does meaning itself have meaning, or is it just a construct people made up to prevent ourselves from giving up? And then he questions if Sol would forgive him, wondering between his existentialism if he deserves forgiveness.
    In the end, he decides that perhaps it isn’t the truth that we divine, but what we believe to be true, and that love is the answer to the world’s troubles, not just cold facts. It is a combination of both, as he decides his ultimate goal, the “accumulation of goodwill”, aka finding a way to define with his infinite wellspring of knowledge how to show people facts about the goodness in the world and that love and good is possible.

      That is a damn whacky storyline. Holy knockers! Under that kind of pressure I'd just succumb to regret and existential dread but this guy somehow found the force for good amidst all that. /Andrei

    I know how you feel listening to this song 😁.
    Gravity is very special to me.
    For start is a very nice song. But, shortly after it came out a friend who was like a brother to me unfortunately passed away. And it was one of the last songs we heard together. And after that every time I hear it reminds me of him. Now this song remained for me like a kind of requiem.

    There are some recordings of songs from both guilty gear and blazblue performed live including heavy day from xrd with none other than daisuke himself on guitar

    As far as live guilty gear does, Naoki (the singer) actually runs his own band with others and did perform some songs live, i think it was called "outrage" concert or smth like that on youtube, and for Strive, back when it released, they did a live performance of 2 songs, Smell of the game and some other i don't remember. So, Naoki's band does perform some of the songs live but there's not much footage for that, and officially they've done 2 strive songs but only short versions of them, all on youtube to find.

    • @alpha-tomahawk532
      @alpha-tomahawk532 5 місяців тому +1

      Correction, official ones are pre-recordings in studio, not live performance, but still shows the band playing if that's what you're looking for.
      And the second strive song they've done is nago's theme - "What do you fight for"

    If I remembere correctly Asuka is both a scienfitic and a priest so he pretty much looked for meaning and answers his whole life, and for the The Gravity answer is that the intentions and consequences of your action makes the meaning of life?
    Also he start a podcast on the moon at the end of the game.

    • @thewindmillfullovcorpses

      Seems like a vague conclusion but it'll do for a video game character. Podcast on the moon is always a good idea. /Andrei

    So... Does meaning have a meaning of meaning the meaning or... Is meaning a meaning of meaning a meaning?

    • @eNK0.
      @eNK0. 5 місяців тому +3

      I guess the meaning of meaning not having a meaning means there's no need to try to look into things around you all the time and trying to find something hidden behind. It's pointless to look for hidden messages and meanings all the time - you just gotta keep things natural and simply be reasonable... Anyway, lyrics like these are pretty much always make different people think of different interpretations, and that is as great as Guilty Gear's music generally is😊

    There IS a live performance. It's good, but way too fucking long. Not because it's boring, but because poor Naoki gave it his all and was clearly DYING by the second half. His poor vocal cords.
