Still my favorite game intro of all time. The high quality 3d animations, faithful replication of the original character arts, great camera shots and sounds that synchronized with the song...if only the anime series was this good, it'll become a true legend.
I come back to this video almost every few months at random times, be it sad or happy. its the one video that encapsulates such raw speed and emotion. to the real engine notes recorded to the sense of sheer speed. this random OP of a long forgotten game, is something so special to me.
This feels like an OP to a lost English 4kids style dub of wangan midnight. The editing, song choice and style are all extremely reminiscent of the early 2000s I love it
@@adithyas.krishnan5828 correct, the reason why is because of how Takumi and Tastuya share the same VA in the original,I also want that to apply to the dub

As any D.K. fan knows, Daiki Kasho made the music, I think the one singing is Alan Brey since the game was released close to GT4 where Alan Brey and Chiaki were the singers for his songs, although I might be wrong.
Jesus. This video is still up here. I saw this intro exactly 15 years ago the same year it was uploaded and it’s still on here. Congrats on having one of the oldest videos on here
This is one great find. Also, the problem for me is that the internet does not have the song used in the video as well! But I came to know the song title. "Hit It!" by Daiki Kasho
Since the PS2 game was 480i - it's not even that far off from the original quality :-) I have a feeling the UA-cam compression became much harsher in the years after this upload.
The extra footage between this version and the original cut would've been FANTASTIC to have when I made my Wangan Reborn AMV, but oh well. I still love watching this.
I love the 240 so much. To me, it's the most beautiful car ever made. And the L series 6 cylinder engines are so awesome, not to mention the sound. The car is perfect in every way. In the beginning at about 0:18 when you get a glimpse of that awesome carb turbo L31, my body shivers. And in the end at 2:06 when you get to see the car like that, standing there with those Watanabe rims and with the music toning down, tears starts to roll because of the car's beauty. :'D
Idk why but I think I prefer the anime to look exactly like this, animation drawing style and everything, well at least Masaki would have made an appearance
I can't find the article, but I read this was supposed to be the intro for the anime. Apparently it had something to do with licensing or distribution, and it ended up being in the game instead. Probably a financial thing.
This video brings tears to my eyes. Especially the ending. That view of the Z really shows that there truly is no other car that can match it's beauty. :') I've made a promise to myself that one day i'm going to build an S30Z just like that one. With a triple carb, twin turbo 3.1 litre L31 engine, pumping out more than 600 horses. When it comes to these engines, the Nissan RB series can go screw themselves..
This is because Electronic Arts has an exclusive contract with Porsche and Japan does not have likeness copyright laws. So in Japan they can get away with a car that looks similar without legal recourse, but not elsewhere. They were legally bound change the Blackbird. They could have gotten around this thou, like Microsoft did, by licensing RUF CTR 'Yellowbird' and dropping any reference to the Porsche brand. But as we all know, that never happened.
Guys, I got somebody from Taiwan that lives in Japan claim that the mehanics and devil tuner actually exist and are in Tokyo, he called them "these old asses" However Akio Asakura does not exist.
This is based off of tuners from the 70s and 80s. They were called the midnight club. Blackbird was the leader. The Porsche Turbo was over 600hp in the 80s. These guys would cruise over 200mph for close to twenty minutes at a time. A Bugatti Veyron wouldn't last that long today. Amazing guys.
Wangan Midnight is based on a real-life racing group called Mid Night Club. There was a heavy (and friendly) rivalry between a 911 Turbo and S30Z, just like in the anime (the cars, not the characters obviously). The 911 eventually won in real life, unlike in this show. Interestingly, while Tatsuya Shima is a surgeon, the real-life person who drove the 911 was practicing to be a doctor but he decided to run his family business instead. Which, of course, involved cars.
Guess I've got to clear this up then. a) Indeed, the car that's often claimed to be the real-life 'Devil Z' is a red S130 Fairlady Z, that has existed since the club's inception. It's never been referred to as the 'Devil Z' in official circles, though. b) The 930 mentioned was never referred to as 'Blackbird' in official circles either, but the owner of the car was the chairman of the club. The car was pushing about 450PS by 1989, so nowhere near 600 within the 80s. c) Cruising at 320km/h for 20 minutes? No, just no. Some of the later cars in the 90s could break 320, but only for a couple of moments, reliability permitting. d) The part about the 'real life' Tatsuya Shima training to be a doctor is unknown, but he did work with cars. e) There were a number of S30Z's running the Hakone route in the 80s under the Mid Night banner. f) The 'tuner' in question for modifying the red Z is ABR, who took up the work sometime in the late 80s/early 90s. The owner of the shop also worked on a red De Tomaso Pantera that used to run the Tomei Expressway in 1981, before it crashed in Tokyo, killing the owner, which could be the source of the whole 'Devil Z kills owner' rumour. Hopefully, that's cleared this mess up. Just, please, and I try to mean no offence here, but just use some logic when reading some of these rumours about cars running at 320km/h for 20+ minutes.

@pacman728 Honestly, after all the research I've done, I realized even more than before how hard it would be to make it twin turbo. There's a guy on the hybridZ forum who is doing a complete modification of his L28, bored and stroked to 3.1L, with twin turbos and a fully custom DOHC head. His project is going on 3 or 4 years now, lots of cash invested and a lot of trial and error. For my Z, I decided to keep it N/A. @mazdee626 Well there was a japanese brand selling ''kits'' to stroke the L28. It was a pre-bored head, 9mm rods, shorter pistons (to reduce what you usually have to bore) and a crankshaft (a copy of the very rare LD28 crank) BUT from my research you can get the same results using 240Z connecting rods, 240SX pistons, a LD28 crank and boring it yourself but that option means having to balance everything AND costs more. For the manifold, I would just use one from a L28ET turbo block.
