In other words, Juliet said "If i die, then i never have to fall in love with you".
The reason why Juliet changed her mind about Jack's plan so fast was because she knew that if hydrogen bomb would've worked if they would've been successful to blow up the entire island, she herself would've never ended up on the island. She would've been in Miami with her sister. The hydrogen bomb is more powerful than nuclear blast. So scientifically the plan would've worked. And all the misery and pain she went through on the island would've been completely erased. The downside was that she would've never met James but she was willing to live with it. So in this case, Juliet chose her sister over James.
James knows Juliet better than anyone even better than she knows herself sometimes so he knew what her real issue here was. He knew she has always been afraid that he would abandon her and he's determined to prove to her that that will never happen because he wanted to marry her and start a family with her.
Juliet is by her nature unsure and insecure about herself which was born from her parents abandonment which is why she basically made it her life mission to care for her sister. Because of Juliet's belief about being an other women to men is solely based on her low self-esteem. She's always believed that no men could ever love her. But Goodwin, Jack and Sawyer always loved her, she just refused to accept it. Even Ben cared for her great deal, that's also part reason why he was so distraught when he moved the island by turning the wheel. He knew that there was only one person who would've been much better to the task, someone who actually wanted to get off the island. That was Juliet.
Juliet was never insecure about her relationship with James. She always knew she had no reason to because deep down she knew James loves her just as much as she does. But her fear of abandonment overpowered her and she wanted to get out of their relationship just in case if he abandons her. Sawyer was planning to propose to her. Juliet has a bad habit of sabotaging her own relationships out of fear of getting hurt. She does the same thing with James and Jack. She used Kate as an excuse to keep them at a distance to cover up the real reason why she's doing it. At this point Juliet would rather die than lose someone she loves. That's why she so easily changed her mind. She's been abused so much in the past that she's had enough.

Sadly this is very true, and very, *very* well said. Perfectly written analysis of this scene. Well done!
