Thanks for the reaction, David. Yes, "Maze" is one of their biggest hits. Another big hit from them and personally my favorite song out of Destrose is "Rin".
Legendary line up here. Marina was and is a great vocalist. See her in Mardelas today. This was the second time that evening this song was played as an opener and an encore.
DESTROSE - ONE-MAN LIVE!! at Shibuya O-WEST (Recorded Nov 14, 2013, released the next spring) Haruna and Miho and Marina had been with the band for about two years. Narumi the lead guitarist had been with them about a year and a half. Captain Mina (Guitar) was the only member from the original 2007 lineup.

Something about this song always reminds me of the band Lizzy Borden from the 80's. I think it's the way she sings it.
Fun reaction! Interesting bit of Trivia, this was actually the second encore and Maze was also the opening number of this show. I've always wondered if this was a planned encore or if the crowd went so crazy they just impromptu decided to go back out and give them another, but with nothing planned or prepared just said "Let's play Maze again."

I love this song, Marina is an awesome singer. Interesting to hear Miho on backing vocals. I really like the guitar riff in this song. Nice review! 🤘🎸🥁🎤

That was Haruna (and Miho) before LOVEBITES.
Yes, Haruna is a small person by stature, but a great drummer.
Therefore, her nickname in LOVEBITES is "the little big engine".
Marina is definitely my top 5 Japanese singer hands down. Right next to Mayu from Nemophila

Always good to see members from an accomplished band, in this case Lovebites, in their previous bands.
As far as Miho's backing vocals, you were very kind. It just go to show how practice and experience can overcome hurdles. As you said, don't give up.
As with a few other Japanese bands I have seen only on UA-cam and sadly not in the flesh, the quality of playing is so much better than I am used to hearing from some bands in England.

I really appreciate that you take the time to fully analyze all the aspects like Rick Beato does unlike the vast number of "reviewers". You made it obvious that her backing vocals were the weakest part of the show and don't match the high energy of the performance.
Great analysis, I always had that same reaction to Miho's tentative vocal there. And I love the song anyway. This was an incredible lineup, and it's sad the group was so unstable. But we did get some amazing work later on from Narumi, Marina (Mardelas) and of course Lovebites. I've met Mina, and she was sweet and humble, contrary to her reputation as being a difficult person.
Low voice. all it takes is for the band mates to push her to get confident...Japanese...the least confrontational people possibly on earth. It will take them 3 hours to just broach the topic of perhaps elevating her voice slightly...but only if she wants...no disrespect. she does great, sugoi, etc.
