Greetings from 28 degrees north and. The other Sunshine State, freaking cold here, raining for a week and down to 33 f…almost 0 C….best wishes to my fav Oz gang, Paulie ❤
Great seeing Curtis and Giggler put together a no nonsense product, always interesting, no long winded voiceovers and always practical. CEE are just down the hi way from me, hoping for studio audience format😊😊
"Couldn't find the tool i was looking for so decided to make my own". That statement sums up the reason i am up at 2am local time to tune in to the latest video from CEE. As always thanks for sharing.
It used to be .. when i was at school we had 2 metal worshops with 5 big laths in each.... now its all media studys on how to show you boobs of with the best lighting...
"For most jobs, the tooling is good... for exceptional others, it can be better... can't find anything better so let's make better" I will never not love that attitude. Homeless' one-pooch-band with the happy grunts and tail wagging percussion was an adorable touch too
Karens's cinematography is perfect for the subject. The multi-angle views, split screens, slow mo etc. are all just so good. I don't know if you have additional lighting, but it's certainly not dull and dingy :)
Sooo much talent in that shop! Never cease to be amazed at Kurtis skills and Karen videography. Homey even impressed with his bed trick. Cheers from Texas!
I had a tool and die instructor at a trade school who said "if I cut myself inspecting your project on a burr you left you fail the whole semester." Guy was a great instructor. Taught me a tremendous amount.....
Nothing like making your own tools and saving money at the same time. I have always loved making tools for the machine shop. Good job Kurtis. You're a very good machinist and a master mechanic. I believe you can make just about anything you put your mind to do. I enjoyed the show very much.
Geeze that threading towards a shoulder makes my arse pucker on every pass. God you have good reactions. I think you are about the only machinist on UA-cam that can get a carbide insert to work like it’s meant to!
Have been a long time subscriber to CEE and more recently HAL Heavy Duty and what is so great to watch is the completely no nonsense, frills or overly dramatic sound tracks to your videos, just the ‘this is how we do it’ approach, coupled with the amusing human touches showing the antics that both Homie and the yard hounds of HHD get up to……phew that was a long sentence ! As with just about every commenter each new video from you guys is eagerly awaited every week, thanks 👌🤘
Fuckin love Kurtis and his determination to complete a task. And Karen for her cinematography skills. These two are a match made in heaven. Let us not forget Homie.
Replacing eye's is like having a cuppa. Happens all the time, nice.. Working on pins or dozer skin replacements, that's more your night out, not every night. But the shop made tools, that, THAT is like packing for a three week holiday to that place you only saw on Telly, where everything is laid on and you can go skiing in the morning before sunbathing in the afternoon....deffo my fav channel.
I didn't know how you avoid the 30 unnecessary step to assure accuracy set up people but man is it refreshing. You do what you do as efficiently as possible with no wasted time and fuss! Thanks again for another cool look into how a guy with a need just takes care of business. Oh and a dog with his chicken is a wonderful thing.
Could watch Kurtis make shop made tools non-stop, it's just so deeply satisfying watching some say yeah so the catalogue says that the solution to my problem doesn't exist. Enter Kurtis who says, "here, hold my beer and watch this".
Good morning Karen , Homeless and Kurtis from Essex In England….. 7:00!Friday morning here and there are people all over the planet watch a man create a one off piece of tooling…. 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Well done Kurtis and Karen, in my workshop I'm always making new tooling due to the fact they are so expensive to buy and I get the enjoyment of making them . 😊
HAL getting a bit of love in the algorithm recently, and likely to grow, to both channel's benefit. Both great channels with different skill sets, customer bases etc. CEE still my first and only love :D
Another example of the caliber of talent that Kurtis has mastered, in that he can manufacture his own tools. It's true that any capable person can manufacture tools. To accomplish that with the efficiency, accuracy and capabilities that Kurtis possess is amazing to not only watch, yet also to understand and appreciate is entertaining. The topper of it all, the humbleness that Kurtis lives is what makes it fun, especially when Karen is there to capture it all for us to see speaks to her talent as well.
These are the jobs that keep me coming back. I’ve been in the machine trades for 20 years however the first 10 were wasted being in my 20’s and taking nothing but chasing women and racing motocross serious. Now I play an important role in a large company and I wish I would have taken my career more serious when I was younger. I watch machining videos because anything extra I can learn is very valuable
Love friday mornings in england, always get to work early to make sure i can watch the newest video with a brew before i start, easily one of my favourite channels on youtube.......when do we get to see you teach karen how to do something though 😅
Homey still a puppy, Curtis shows his impressing skills, Karen is really a professional videographer, Bloopers makes you watch the whole video to the end
What is so absolutely cool and mesmerizing about watching you is your steadfast confidence in what you're doing... You make it look so easy... The mark of a true master... Have you ever taken a project through and get to the end or close to the end and screwed it up enough to say "No frickin way!" then just go to bed until tomorrow?
Props to the camera work and video editing, I've been following for a looong time and it was good to begin, but it is incredible now!!! Good on ya, love the channel!
Watching your free hand with both dials is amazing I could never get that down, I could never get my hands to work like that! I bet your one of these people who can pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time no worries
I have never clicked on anything so fast, when Storm Éowyn is battering the outside of my house right now, the best thing to do is sit back and put on some CEE and enjoy watching Kurt making tools with the awesome Karen recording it with helpful interruptions from Homeless the Safety Dog!
Yes, awful waking up to Eowyn here in the UK 🇬🇧 . But the land of OZ has come to relieve us, Max at Swan Valley, yesterday and then CEE and HAL today. CEE taking the first spot of course.
As always you both have done a great job, need a tool make a tool! I only have a mini lathe but I've made things I needed instead of buying and it's a great feeling!
Of course, our hero - did not carry out the work steps of the 3 raw tools individually, but did them for all raw parts. This saves a lot of time and tool changes.
To appreciate the experience and timing it takes to thread to a shoulder like that I think you kind of have to try it yourself. Looks like about a second and a half to cut the thread and the relief is maybe 1/4 the length of the thread, so you only have a bit over .3 of a second margin before it gets expensive. It’s old hat to those who do it every day, but to hobby machinists like me it’s a marvel.
Have you seen a cube being made from a piece of round bar? That's possible on a lathe as well. I won't post a link here but there are videos showing how it's done.

fantastic video skills. I loved that close up on the first cut,
Kurtis' talent is immense.

Some of this stuff with the lathe set up and work should be seen in EVERY high school machine shop. Priceless education.
It used to be .. when i was at school we had 2 metal worshops with 5 big laths in each.... now its all media studys on how to show you boobs of with the best lighting...
I like the way they ship 4140 solid bar to you marked fragile.
I suspect it's because it's ground bar. You don't want dints in it.
@@billdoodson4232 Yeah, that's the case. But than again, if three solid bars of 4140 are fagile than everything is fragile.
I suspect it might break your arm...
That’s actually for the delivery guys toes 😂
You'd be amazed at the inspired damages the temporary delivery drivers can create.
"For most jobs, the tooling is good... for exceptional others, it can be better... can't find anything better so let's make better"

Since nobody makes these extensions maybe you could market these. Curtis extend-o-tools ❤
Karens's cinematography is perfect for the subject. The multi-angle views, split screens, slow mo etc. are all just so good. I don't know if you have additional lighting, but it's certainly not dull and dingy :)
As usual a beautiful looking tool custom made....Kurtis is an artist...."better than a bought one mate"
Appreciate that, it's always satisfying making something that works just as good as or better than what's available in the shops.
Sooo much talent in that shop! Never cease to be amazed at Kurtis skills and Karen videography. Homey even impressed with his bed trick. Cheers from Texas!

Fascinating to watch you cut the tapers. I did not know that was possible on a lathe.
You can also have an attachment at the back of the lathe to move the entire cross-slide for making longer taper and with power feeds
