I read that novel in 2017 because I saw a meme post saying "it's ever17 year" and I wanted to make fun of how people expected 2017 to be. I don't regret a thing
Suddenly remember about this OP, came to listen to it again and saw this video is 17 years old as of 2023, I thought it's appropriate to comment on that fact lol.
At first I thought this OP was meh, but the more I listened to it the more it grew on me. Now it's become a song I really really love. It's one of my favorite OPs of any VN or anime. The VN itself is like taking a twist of the magnitude of M Night Shyamalan's Six Sense and Unbreakable endings, and instead of inserting it into the ending, sprinkle about 10 of those throughout the story. One of the greatest mystery plots ever.
One of the best visual novels ever! Others have tried to copy some aspects of it, but never succeeded in having the same impact! Also, if you intend to play it, I strongly recommend to AVOID SPOILERS!
Where can i play the game? i dont find it on steam. :x I always wanted to play the game since i played the opening on osu so many times, the opening is really interresting but never found where i can play it preferable legally.

Ngl, after playing the Zero Escape saga and Ai Somnium Files saga after Ever17, it's pretty funny how much that one influenced those two sagas (and most of Uchikoshi work in general).
It’s one of the Best things I ever encountered, definitely the Best VN that really plays and experiments with its own genre. What is sad is that it will not become more popular as an anime as it’s barely possible to make it into one, it would actually ruin the experience. It’s an absolute visual novel if you know what I mean. And another sad part is that you can’t play it for first time again lol. I always recommend it to everyone.
agreed. They can't make this any format other than a visual novel or it wouldn't work. They did an anime short of VLR but that was already misleading and a lie, because that's another VN that can't be made into an anime or tv show.

Man, I remember when I finally got a laptop, my friend from high school let me have her copy of this with Hourglass of Summer and I still have both. This was an amazing story that sat with me for a few weeks and is the reason I got into visual novels as a story telling medium.
Out of all the visual novels I've gone through, so far this is the best one, next to true Remembrance. It's so damn intellectually and emotionally stimulating. My only problem is it resurfaced my fear of the dark.
The reason I ended up here just because I followed another works from the producer of pepsiman. But yeah, the graphic really bring my memories from ps1 era.
OMG, I just finished this it was sooooo good nothing can beat this, it was right up my alley as well, it's the BEst Visual novel, i don't think any other one can beat it at the moment, it does get alittle slow but the True Ending is SO worth it.

Very touching.... The final route sums up and answer all the questions you might have from the start of the series... Each route is like a piece of puzzle, finish 1 route and one piece of the puzzle fits in. And the final route is like most important center piece. When you finish the final route you will definitely say 'Oh! Now it makes sense'
I'm gonna say it. There's no VN's that came close to this. This is unmistakenly golden age of VN. I've stopped playing VN because I've read all those old VN with rich stories like this that has been translated, and there's reallllyyyy few of the newer VN that has quality story like this. Make you wonder where all those creativity go
I would go even one step further and say writing generally has gone to shit in both VNs and anime, for the past decade. I could probably only name few titles max that are noteworthy, but still don't even come close to Ever17.
@@w.a.hawkins6117 The most disappointing VN I ever played. Full of cliches, contrived story elements, and stereotypical characters. Who ever wrote MLA doesn't know how human interaction work. The game is a great proof that a lot of fans of anime and VNs don't care about good writing.
this is one of the best epic visual novels there is. I loved all the mindtwists and mysteries and how it all wraps up in the end. (somewhat of a spoiler)If this was turned into an anime, it'd be hard since there'd be 2 point of view and you can't really reveal how Kid and Takeshi look like...
I cannot agree with you, radoslav, this game IS a real life changer, but I cannot stop playing it... It also is the best VN I've ever played, and even though I finished this 2 years ago, I still play some scenes, and even find it regretting that I didn't play it earlier... A beautiful game with great personalities, cool thrilling action, and huge heartbreaking scenes.
Just finished the true ending (Coco's path), i won't spoil a thing, but for the people who still haven't played this i can say only one thing. What a COMPLETE MINDFUCK story, seriously once you know how everything is put together and the TRUE relationship between all the characters..... great story but damn what a complete mindfuck.
In Japan it was released for PS2 and Sega Dreamcast, but in the U.S. only for PC. You can get it on Amazon for 40 bucks new, but it's hard to find for cheaper. I lucked out and found it for 20 on ebay, but I definitely think it's worth 40. :)

In fact, there's a KS for Root Double that you should definitely check out if you catch this message in time! Great SF-mystery stories are hard to come by that are as great as Ever17, so be sure to check these other titles out!
I wish KID didn't go out of business, so they or someone else could remake Remember 11 and complete the missing route. Now it will forever be an incomplete game, and no one can go back and write the missing route because no one owns the rights to the game. Even the people who were KID can't do it. They could easily do a Kickstarter and I guarantee it will get funded.
I started to play this and got very into it. It was like one of those unputdownable books that I could read for hours without getting bored, even during the happy scenes that everyone else found boring. I was aiming for You's route...but my computer crashed before I could get to her actual path, and I may have to send it to the US to get it fixed....
The story of this game is so good that I even bought the novel in Japan :P... BTW, in order to solve the whole story,you need to finish all the sub-storyline and then play the final storyline. :D

After the bit about Sora, I begin wondering if Coco is a hologram as well(and I'm assuming she's also a secret char later on)... I would kill for a movie of this, honestly. And when it gets to the Blick Winkel part, it should cut to the viewer's perspective and the only dialogue BW will get will be onscreen subtitles.
it would not work as a movie. You'd have to restart all the events from the beginning. The story depends on you going through the events multiple times. You can't do that in a movie. A movie would have to intercut between both POVs which you can't do in E17 for obvious reasons. And then you'd have to go back for Coco's route.

Wrong, it's more likely the thing they wanted to do with DVDs some years ago: you watch the movie and from time to time you're given a choice: would you prefer to do this or that, say something or stay silent. But unlike as in most western quests, where such choices just alter the dialogue, choices here drastically affect the story flow, shifting you from one story path to another. So you can play the game more than once, and each time the story will be different, depending on your choices

@RedRoseBloom Never 7 is being translated by tlwiki and infinity is not on translation progress as far as i know. There are other Kid games in english like Pia carrot, One, Ai yori aoshi and cross chanel, Check the database for more info. (Visual novel database, google that)
I wish either Mangagamer or Spike Chunsoft got the rights to the Infinity series so people like myself could get the English release of this without having to pay absurd prices or pirate.
@ManijakTotalni - yeah I know what you mean, the character setup is similar to Family Project... I imagine Tsugumi is pretty much the same archtype as Aoba.

G Senjou no Maou is basically Death Note except with the Yakuza on the villain's side and the hero having no real power, Umineko no Naku Koro ni focuses on logic puzzles with twisted rules, Cross Channel involves a school for mentally twisted high schoolers who get cut off from the rest of the world, Majikoi's just plain hilarious, etc. Ever17 changed my perspectives on things, but there's a world of epic stories out there :D
Ah, I decided a good half-hour break with this now installed would be nice... I regret it now... because I want more!! gah! I have to get back to work, but I decided to say this game is VERY WELL DONE... to the point of having the speed of the messages match the length of sounds/voices, etc. (you know, so you don't have your text finish before/after the character has finished talking :D) Good stuff... good stuff.

read the zero escape series by the same author if u haven't. somehow he keeps stuffing conspiracy shit into them and I love it.

Now that VR is pretty established, a 3D visual novel in VR would be potentially sick and an advantage over the dominating medium of anime, but idk
hmm I'm not sure, Ever17 is full of dialogues and it would get tiring from spending over 20 hours just reading and choosing dialogue options

I have to get back to work, but I decided to say this game is VERY WELL DONE... to the point of having the speed of the messages match the length of sounds/voices, etc. (you know, so you don't have your text finish before/after the character has finished talking :D)
