The scenes with Rhaenyra tell me that all she ever really wanted was a meaningful and sincere apology and acknowledgement for all the dutiful hard work she's been doing. She hadn't been getting that from Rhaenyra until now, clearly. That combined with disowning Aegon as her son, helped her to come around and see Rhaenyra would be the better choice after all.
She feels extreme bitterness resentment and hurt, made worse by her shitty marriage. But it was never really hate. or else the scenes in this episode with Rhaenyra can't happen. She is a complex tragic villain

@@diannaa.62 Otto and Viserys. He saw the love between the two girls, romantic or not, and still chose to marry Alicent. Alicent and Rhaenyra are clearly lesbians in love with each other. Rhaenyra, heartbroken over losing Alicent, threw herself to toxic men like Criston Cole and Daemon Targaryen. Alicent, never having found the love she felt for Rhaenyra, threw herself into becoming a dutiful wife and mother and queen. None of them found the great, true love they felt for each other. It's sad and tragic. Cishet men once again ruin everything.

@@MariaHossain you’re absolutely right even tho I think Rheanyra(?) is more of a bisexual, but Alicent seemed lesbian. She was never interested in any man or anyone for that matter besides Rheanyra.
I’ve seen many ppl say they’re good friends, I have a good friend, we’re nothing like their relationship it was obv more than friendship.

alicent is the villain here, yes but I think she was kind of forced into it. when she was a child, probably 14 or 15, her father forced her to marry the king and looking at the kings condition she maybe found the "queen" silver lining. rhaenyra obviously didn't appreciate her friend and her father marrying and having children but it wasn't alicent's choice. when rhaenyra's pleasure house 'actions' led to the king dismissing alicent's father as the hand (yes he was a scheming man but to his daughter, he was innocent which is normal for a child of 16), she could have plotted against rhaenyra but she chose to stay on her friends side even though her father was removed from his position and disgraced. when she found out rhaenyra LIED about her actions, and she had believed her whole-heartedly, that's when she felt true betrayal and that's where everything began.
