It wouldn’t be so bad if the weight wasn’t aired out in front of all the kids peers. You know maybe the actual doctors should weigh the kids since they do anyway and schools shouldn’t be doing things that aren’t in their jurisdiction.

Fr if I had gotten the "you're chubby and that's fine bc you're growing but please get in shape before this is your normal weight and it becomes harder to shed" talk in private or just with other chubby kids It wouldn't have felt like bullying but like the attempt to help that it really was

They did in elementary school k thru 5th grade in the 1970's. PLEASE don't bring it back!! It's traumatizing for the heavy kids and the super skinny ones as well. They would be teased/bullied for the rest of the school year. Why they weighed us at school anyway was never explained.

Exactly. It makes sense to be weighed at he doctor but at school? There’s just no reason.

If they insist on doing it , they should have the common sense and decency to weigh each kid in private.

A hummingbird on his shoulder would actually suit his style and temperament and he dresses pretty conservatively so he'd be covered up for work anyway. It was pretty surprising how uncomfortable he was initially since tattoos are so commonplace these days and equally surprising how he embraced them at the end ! I don't think that Eating Disorders among school age kids are as uncommon as the doctor is making them out to be especially when you count Bulimia and Endos, and are showing up at younger and younger ages . Also kids who are overweight and don't fit the mold can actually be extra vulnerable to them .

Ok, I am officially addicted to this series 😁 I am currently binge watching every episode 👍 tlThis should be a mandatory "thing" in society where everyone has to meet up for dinner, at least once a month, with someone that is a complete opposite of themselves. The world would probably be a much better place if we all did this 🎉

Oh course, if something doesn't ever really effect one, personally.. it's easy to be against it; because, hey! I'd never be in their position.. in fact, they're some kind of messed up, for having got yourself, into that position
    Right

We had our height and weight measured at primary school, and our spines, hearing and sight checked. I loved it.

I’m intrigued by the green, square dessert. What do we think it is? Matcha cake, pistachio cake? It looks amazing.

Maybe not mandatory but certainly taught by parents it can be a good tool to use while eating a balanced diet?

In the 60s, in the Downunderlands, we were weighed at school. I never knew why, but I went along with it. Looking back, the school never had any medical history to explain my weight or lack of it. At three years old, I had a big abdominal trauma, resulting in rearranged organs and adhesions. My gut simply doesn't function normally. Then, at six, I became anorexic because of a situation I couldn't control at meal times, and I was scared to eat. Mum said she was almost afraid to bathe me in case I broke. After that situation was resolved, I began to eat again, but genetics and ME/Chronic Fatigue quickly led me to obesity. In my adult life, I have been in the "healthy" weight range just once, for two weeks.

they should do a 2 vs. 2 so it's more of a debate and less of a date.

Over half of children are overweight or obese. Being diagnosed with heart and liver problems, adult onset diabetes. DIseases only overweight adults used to get. There is a massive problem with weight related diseases in children. So yes they should be aware of their weight.
