Being a musician means it's hard to find music that truly gets you. I'm so happy there was someone who was passionate and loved this, to take it to another level, this work is so subtle and beautiful. So glad I discovered this composer. What a great period impresionism. Thank you for sharing this!
There's more 'style ancien' music out there than you can shake a stick at! pieces by Quignard, Wachs, and ‒ one of my favourites ‒ Manière: his "Offertoire dans le style ancien" is magical.

This masterpiece has scents of nostalgia, home country’s soil and a hint of loneliness.
Japanese game music compositors, as film compositors like Hisashi or Sakamoto, are very inspired by late 19th/early 20th century french music, like Debussy, Ravel, Severac... In French Impressionism as in Japanese modern culture, we find this nostalgic feeling, this sweet melancholy, a joy tinged with bitterness, and also the attachment to the description of Nature. It is interesting to underline that these French composers have been themselves inspired by the culture of the Far East, for example with the use of pentatonism. When Debussy composed "La Mer" or "Les Estampes", it is certain that he had in mind the paintings of Hokusai.
What a joy to have discovered de Severac! Thank you so much.

Maravillosa la música de Déodat! Inigualable el impresionismo musical! Aún no superado a día de hoy...
Reminds me so much of ravel's tombeau de couperan, especially the menuet.

Is there a reason that you play minor at 1:05? We have a C sharp major there.
It seems like every Japanese game music compositor ever EVER has used this as inspiration.
