You answered all my questions. My son wakes up grunting every day at 5am and will stop by laying him down on my chest. He will start grunting again once I lay him back down. I’m glad to hear it is normal within the 0-3mo. I will take all your advise and looking forward for this to pass for some better sleep. Thank you!

This video is so helpful. I’m a first time mom and my little one often grunts and is a very noisy sleeper. Not only do we lose sleep, worrying that they are OK I often find myself not knowing how to fix the problem or if there even is a problem. I look forward to trying your tips out. Appreciate the advice.

I’ve watched so many videos regarding this topic and finally someone made sense your explanation was very clear and i can now rest assured knowing that my baby is fine because I’ve been concerned and wondering if it’s really normal.

This was helpful! However I have trouble burping my baby during night feeds, she falls asleep while eating at night. I usually feed her lying down at night to make it as easy and comfortable as possible and then lift her to her babynest. Do you have any suggestions on how to burp her at night? If I wake her up after feeding to burp I’m afraid she’ll want to eat again.. and waking her is nearly impossible, it would require me to go up and into a light cold room or something similar.

Often it isn't as essential to wind overnight. They are so sleepy and don't take in as much wind as daytime feeding. Try just lifting her up onto your shoulder for a few mins and if nothing comes up, place back down x

Really good info, my 4weeks old grunts usually starts at 5am. However, last night it started from midnight and ongoing until the next day. Is this normal ? Is there something we could do when the grunting happened ?

It can be quite normal at this age. It is very common at this age for babies to grunt and kick overnight as this is when their digestive system starts working. This can cause them a bit of wind and discomfort as their digestive system is still maturing. They are usually still asleep though, so unless your baby is crying up it’s okay to leave them to it. These digestive issues tend to peak around the 6 week mark and then gradually ease off by 12 weeks old. Making sure you are winding your baby really well after every feed can help though.

My little bundle of happiness (2 m.o.) does just this every morning at 6am. Squirms, grunts, whines, and fusses. After about 15 minutes.....bam! She releases a massive shart. Yup a shit fart. Then she squirms, grunts, whines, and fusses for about another 45 minutes. Momma up with her by then, so I'm good. 😂
