  • Making or using a flamethrower can be dangerous, and you definitely shouldn't try anything you see me doing unless you're an adult who is willing to accept responsibility for your actions. Check your local laws and ordinances, as far as I know flamethrowers are only regulated in California and Massachusetts, but check on your own to be sure.

I want to try to make something like this, but maybe simpilar and without any "comemrcial" parts. (Like more of a DIY)

I thought rubbing alcohol burns blue.

You know I never really thought of that when I was doing this, I’ll have to look into why it does that. If I had to guess right now though I’d say that it must be something to do with the alcohol being sprayed through the air, maybe causing incomplete burning. I guess it might have just picked up impurities in the pvc too

@Sciencish With an alcohol/spirit burner, the flame I got from the same kind of rubbing alcohol (91% Isopropanol) was the same color more or less, one factor may be that the pharmacy rubbing alcohol is "dirty" in some manner, as I've found through experience (heating Glassware for chemistry) that it tends to burn with a very sooty flame.
