  • This first clip is of Ondrej Smeykal playing a Chad Butler didjeridu while visiting us here at LA Outback. Ondrej came by to conduct a workshop at the house and he was kind enough to grace us with two solo didj pieces to be posted on our UA-cam channel.
Check out a wide selection of didgerdioo made in Australia and available in the US at www.laoutback.com

He has developed a specially fast way to circular breathe that allows him to take a breath on the toot or horn sound. That allows him to play very fast rhythms. He started it, and now, years later, there are still very few people that can do it.
We need to appreciate his ability to "play extremely fast and not compare him to traditional aboriginal playing. That is a totally different thing and I am sure the artist knows that.

    wow, complicating and intricate beats.
    very skilled
I am Australian, and i enjoy listen to u, however i believe our natives have it right. The didgeridoo is cultural, depicting stories, sounds in earth and our native animals, not to mention hunting methods and primal calls.. On ya all our Aussies!!

@howhypa but what of us who do not wish to impose on your culture. Like me, im american, and never know what the land of AU is like. I dont know the natives, I havnt been told the stories, nor sook them out, but i dont want to "Imitate" their songs and styles for its meaning is lost unto me. So I, like Ondrej, am crafting cutting edge styles of playing this versatile instrument. There is no right or wrong way to play. Just keep on playing. ^_^ get lost in the rhythm, flow with the groove

Australia does not own the horn. Never feel guilty about playing the didge, it is as much a musical instrument as a religious chanting device. Rock on.

Looks like a bamboo didge to me...

Its an impressive tech playing, but no Soul, story or nothing to tell..just a showoff, which is sad, cause the Yidaki is supposed to show something deeper, a history of creation and of the world

lmao aboriginals don't own the horn. Ondrej brought the ocean to a concert I went to, the most spiritual thing that ever happened in my life. You don't know Ondrej.
