Unpopular opinion it seems but i much prefer the standard over the APR based on these sound clips. Lost a lot of tone and clean sound for a overly deep and boomy sound.
I think this video doesn’t do it justice how it actually sounds in person. This exhaust actually makes the rs3 sound totally different compared to all other rs3’s out there. I’m getting bored of the oem rs sports exhaust because everyone’s car sounds the same. I believe the rs3 sounds more exotic with a hint of old 5cyl rally car sounds in it with this exhaust.
from factory it is barely audible. the reason the factory sport exhaust sounds good in this video is because it has a cts catless downpipe and catless midpipes. the catback is only making a minor difference at that point because there is literally nothing between the engine and the muffler vs a fully stock setup having a massive catalytic converter and 2 additional smaller cats absorbing 90% of the sound. i have run almost every combination of dp/mp/catback on the 5cyl and can say if you keep all 3 pieces of the exhaust stock, you will feel totally embarrassed when people ask you to rev the car (being that anyone who asks is the rare person aware of the 5cyl and has only heard clips online of modded 5cyls) it absolutely needs mods like this to sound good. currently running the unitronic dp, unitronic catless mids, and bullx catback on my ttrs and it sounds great, clean and loud but not too loud…but i also have the iroz catless dp/mp and run that a few months of the year. that setup can wake the dead
@@baconx4424I just have Unitronic mid pipes with the factory sport exhaust on my RS3 and think the tone sounds good. Midpipes basically added no extra sound though which was disappointing. I'd imagine the tone will change when I get a downpipe though. I don't want the catback to add a more bassy raspy tone, but I am looking at IE's catback in the future if I to that route. I'm still in the early stages of modding it though since I just got it.
Nice video! I'm in the market for an exhaust. I was looking at the Bullx(EGO-X) but now I'm considering the APR. If possible, could you can do a video on the Bullx? Hopefully, someone in your area has it installed.
They are pretty strict around where I live in regards to people running modified exhausts. So much so that I can honestly say I don't see or hear any RS3's with modified exhausts around me.
I need your wisdom on an 8Y. I'm thinking APR over AWE. ON the fence for where to source the down/mid pipes. Would you rec Unitronic, or another maker, for the 8Y if grabbing the APR system? I read these mods sound different on the car from 8V to 8Y but you'd be the expert here. Any info apprecaited.
Yea... exhausts on Audi's only seem worth the sound difference on the 5 & 8 cylinder cars. Otherwise, isn't anything out there that makes the car sound better on the v6's.
its not worth it, im really dissapointed with that exhaust its a joke. Why is it bad? it does not sound like a 5 cylinder anymore, pops are dull, the screaming 5er is just overlapping with the piping and last thing to mention which is really important, you cant hear anything in the car just cruising with the flaps open, you have to scream inside the car to speak with your co driver BUT its not even loud on the outside which is hilarious. So just stay away from it.
@@VancityAudi yes sadly, im just fixing my stock exhaust and will tos the apr one away and hope i can get the money back what i paid for. It's just to deep for my personal preference and im not a guy who floors the car 24/7. just cruising with it you cant hear anything and when it sounds aweful, even when a friend took it for a spin to hear it, its a laugh. The only cool part is, flaps closed its really enjoyable but other then that i can still hear the apr intake louder then the exhaust
@710nerDeckel wow! You're the first person I know who has hated this exhaust. We loved the way it sounds and how it deepend the tone of the exhaust. We also didn't find the cabin noise so loud that you had to yell at eachother either. I've been in some loud ass cars and that wasn't one of them. To each their own though!!!!
@710nerDeckel haha, well regardless of what the situation may be, I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy the product like we did. I hope you find a quieter solution to your liking!

That sounds great!! Not overly loud and obnoxious, really nice balance!!
those audi 5 cylnders have one of the best sounds you can get wicked
Agreed!
That oem exhaust sounds incredible. Much better than that raspy Honda exhaust.
sounds crazy nice - APR is quality 10/10
dang dude that sounds so nasty, I mean we can all agree the OEM sport exhaust already sounds killer...but this was next level!
Agreed!
Freaking insane!
Sounds amazing
Hmm I’ll look into installing one on my TTRS.😀
Sounds really good!
Thanks!
Sounds epic man! Wish the 5cyl was in more cars, such a cool engine!

To each their own! Taste in sound will always be subjective. I love how deep it is now.

glad someone said it
I came to simply add my opinion: I disagree
If you listen on your phone it has less bass.
Both sound great honestly. The rs3 sounds so good from factory i honestly dont think id get an exhausr for it 🤷🏼♂️

Sounds like a mini Lambo 😮💨🔥🔥🔥
Sounds and looks great ! Maybe my next one gets this exhaust!

Looking forward to 8Y version
Sounds pretty good. 😮
Jesus that start up... Sounds like a tiger 😱
Sounds great
Is there any noticable difference in volume compared to sports exhaust when flaps are open or is it just different in tone (deeper)?
It's louder too. Not a whole bunch louder, but noticeable.
Have drone
@@rs3blackfire841 is this a question or a statement?
Apr really the best
Sounds great Adam!
Was there any weight differences between the OEM and APR catback?
I show the weights of the systems in the video

Sadly, I'm not an expert on that topic. We don't have 8Y's in Canada, so I have very little experience with them.
@@VancityAudi I hear ya. I'll keep looking. Appreciate the content
Would this just add on to unitronic mid and down pipes? Not replace?
Correct, this would come after the midpipes and replace your rear portion of the exhaust
@@VancityAudi thanks!

I can't open the valves on mine when it's in park. When I push the mode button, nothing happens.
Best to check on your exhaust valve plugs then
Sounds pretty raspy. Is it raspy in person? Im looking to get hp 4 inch exhaust from germany
I say more deeper than raspy
How is the drone at highway speed with valves closed?
The owner said very minimal
I think I like OEM more but videos don't always do justice... I need to hear the APR in person. I do like the design.
Come visit us as The Titanium Strip Mission Raceway Park on September 1st and we'll be back on on the drag strip with it. It sounds gnarly in person!
Adam, what truck lip is that
Sorry "truck lip"?
I actually way prefer the OEM Stock exhaust sounds way better.
Oem sports exhaust sounds better and original..i will never replace mine because it has that signature sound plus the oem oval tips are second to none
I actually prefer stock because the apr loses that v10 sound

I disagree. My buddy installed an AWE exhaust on his B8 S5, and it sounds great! ua-cam.com/video/SoCsF5dRE0U/v-deo.html
I agree. Though I think it really only applies to the Supercharged V6 and not so much the Turbo
@@ChrisMadsonI'd have to disagree with that as well, haha. AWE on a B9 S4 sounds pretty sweet to me: ua-cam.com/users/shortsJgUiEaOohIw?feature=share
