My Medical Elective in Fiji!

- Hi guys! My name is Surina Taneja and I am a junior doctor in the UK. I have put together the highlights from my medical elective last year in Lautoka, Fiji. I spent my elective in the surgical department in Lautoka hospital which was an amazing experience and I learnt a lot about surgery. I explored Fiji thoroughly during my stay there and you can find out what I got up to in this video! Hope you enjoy the video and let me know if you use any of these recommendations!

Bula , your video was beautiful . Just to point out that Nadi is not the capital of fiji , Suva is and Kava doesn't really taste like dishwater. Foreigners are caught by surprise because they are not used to drinking something that looks like muddy water. If consumed properly it is actually really good and really relaxes the body. Anyways if you plan a future trip and are interested to look at how we practice healthcare in detention do hit me up. Vinaka

I wasn’t a big fan of the Kava I tried but maybe I need to try some better stuff next time. Would love to visit Fiji again in the future 😊

I funded it myself as was too late to apply to any funding schemes but there are some online you may be eligible to apply for it you have a google

A medical elective was part of my medical degree. We had to contact hospitals abroad and organise a shadowing placement for 6-8 weeks.
