Corgan: "I was really suicidal. I just thought it was funny to write a song that said today is the greatest day of your life because it can't get any worse."
Hell yes! Finally someone says it. Whenever I see a video with a bunch of negative comments I notice that on the first page everything's positive, until one person says something slightly derogatory. After that it's a snowball effect. People seem a lot more inclined to go with the flow when it's negative.
@Addergebroed I saw Them sing "The Walking Shade" in Tallahassee every one was so quiet, not because they didn't enjoy it to the contrary we were speechless.
Personally I Think Billy Is Ahead Of His Time,And Is Trying To Introduce The Youth Of Today To The New Pumpkins Love It! Fuck The Haters,Pumpkins Rule! =]
i must say that i only know Smashing Pumpkins for a few weeks and this live performance just doesnt get out of my head. I actually think this is a very grungy way to sing this song and i like it much. i dont know why you as fans say such bad things about his live voice. well good day for you sirs ;)
Cmon peeps Billy isn't known for having Celine Dion like chops, he is known for instilling his performances with passion and energy and writing classic music. If you are judging this performance off the vocals, you are totally missing the essence of what makes the Pumpkins rock. I feel bad for you.
what? I love this live version, maybe it's because I got into the band after the breakup and never really got into the whole James D'arcy Jimmy and Billy lineup, I don't know
It would be wrong to judge them live based solely on this video. I saw them live in concert back in 2000 just before they disbanded for the first time and they were great. To me this isn't The Smashing Pumpkins, certainly not The Smashing Pumpkins I remember, as Billy and Jimmy are the only 2 original members present here, the other guitarist and bassist are only there as hired hands I assume.
It may be about suicide but it still contains the lyrics 'Today is the greatest day I've ever known', 'I wanted this more than life could ever grant me' and for the honeymoon 'I wanna turn you on'
i have seen a lot of world class bands but, and by the way i wasnt a fan of them or anything but i have to say they are the best live act i ever saw, they took my fuckin face off.
@edufur yeh... it's kinda sad; I wouldn't voluntarily pay for a tsp concert ticket itself... maybe for an event like the good bye tour or something like that. Still Corgan makes great music.
@MISTADANMAN360 man theyr amazing but it isent the guys fault his voice probably changed since the song came out lik its really old like it was back when he had hair.
He wrote the song for himself, so he gets to perform it however he wants. If he wants to sing the lyrics backwards he can. Got it? Thats what 90s rock was about. I don't think he has lost his voice. I think that the change of the band line-up has screwed up their timing live, and the way he sings has changed, not from age, but from getting accustomed to singing and performing newer material. Remember, they are also using newer gear on tour and mic is clearly way too sensitive.
What a daft performance tbh, it's played like it's the 5th time they play it that day. Best song from smashing pumkins for me, but this is daft, give him an acoustic and let him play it like he means it.
I agree this is a bad performance of Today, but over all he still perform this song good at other concerts. I saw Bullet With Butterfly Wings from this show too and it sounds bad too. I think Billy Corgan was having a bad day.
Yeah, I know what you mean, and I feel the same way about some of their recent work. I just don't believe the "fault" is on the new members. Time has passed, music has changed, Billy aged, etc. It's another band, and maybe it would still be a different band even with the original line-up. By the way, Oceania is looking great.
I mean, im a Zeppelin man so im always comming from a disdainful perspective. I used to see the pumps videos and tunes and promos and be, meh, just another band. BUT. when you see this band live THEN they make you understand. The bass player im sorry i dont know her name but i would worship that woman all day long i think im in love.
Jimmy has the skills and the feel. He is a master drummer.
of course it changed, he's been screaming the hell out of his guts for 20 years now -_-
Corgan: "I was really suicidal. I just thought it was funny to write a song that said today is the greatest day of your life because it can't get any worse."
ZERO
🎉
Corgan, a guitar master
One of my favorite Pumpkin songs!
Hell yes! Finally someone says it. Whenever I see a video with a bunch of negative comments I notice that on the first page everything's positive, until one person says something slightly derogatory. After that it's a snowball effect. People seem a lot more inclined to go with the flow when it's negative.
Greatest song about depression x
love this, the smashing pumpkins
Really love this version
Ive seen em live twice...they killed it!
I love the final solo!
kickass. the pumpkins are back!
he still rocks!!!!!!!!
no importa cuantos años pasen o como billy cante este tema, siempre va a pintarme una sonrisa en la cara
Siamese Dream is an ALBUM. And it came out in 1993 when the Pumpkins were at their best.
Billy Corgan looks like lex luthor
Billy has talent. No doubt about it. He is my bald headed hero.
3:10 when he points at the crowd... the solo there actually sounds pretty good :)
gosh, love the solo
Today WAS the greatest, that frankly, I ever knew.
this tune brings me back to the 90s........ hmm.... yea
Que recuerdos me trae este tema xd!!! Que años aquellos!!! Smashing Pumkins Rocks!!!
@Addergebroed I saw Them sing "The Walking Shade" in Tallahassee every one was so quiet, not because they didn't enjoy it to the contrary we were speechless.
grande Pitbull!
Jajaja
No compares Billy Corgan con un idiota como Pitbull
Personally I Think Billy Is Ahead Of His Time,And Is Trying To Introduce The Youth Of Today To The New Pumpkins
Love It!
Fuck The Haters,Pumpkins Rule! =]
That was awesome.
respect him dude
No one on earth like Billy Corgan. Totally unique guy.
i must say that i only know Smashing Pumpkins for a few weeks and this live performance just doesnt get out of my head. I actually think this is a very grungy way to sing this song and i like it much. i dont know why you as fans say such bad things about his live voice. well good day for you sirs ;)
great performance!!!love u guys!!
Look at the difference between this, and then the same song at The Metro in 93'! Rest In Peace Pumpkins..
Great!!
Cool song cool solo.
I like the original too, but this has a modern twist in it, I was a suicidal asshole before, I know the meaning easily
this was my wedding song back in 2002
A song about suicide?
best band ever, even dave grhol admitted that
That drummer kills
I love the bassist
Yep I also agree.
Before anyone criticize Axl Rose's singing, I have two words for you... Billy Corgan.
Woot! it works both ways
Cmon peeps Billy isn't known for having Celine Dion like chops, he is known for instilling his performances with passion and energy and writing classic music. If you are judging this performance off the vocals, you are totally missing the essence of what makes the Pumpkins rock. I feel bad for you.
@SinfulSeamus He sound just as good if not better than in the 1990s deeper voice, more mature, less strung out and pushy.
By the way, in case you wanted to know their new base player is Ginger Sprites. (correct me if i spelled her name wrong)
what? I love this live version, maybe it's because I got into the band after the breakup and never really got into the whole James D'arcy Jimmy and Billy lineup, I don't know
JAMES IHA FOREVER!
cool! singer guy's sleeves and stratocaster match!
WTF!!! I missed the old Pumpkins line up. I just hope Billy and James rekindle again.
@megamanthehitman yep, that's his style.
MOAR
where can i get that shirt that billys wearing its great
dude, it sounds a LIT different on Guitar Hero World Tour... but i kinda like this version too :D
yeah he does!and sometimes stipe wears that striped shirt too.
It would be wrong to judge them live based solely on this video.
I saw them live in concert back in 2000 just before they disbanded for the first time and they were great.

The hot bass girl was in scouts of st Sebastian the band with the song called in love
It may be about suicide but it still contains the lyrics 'Today is the greatest day I've ever known', 'I wanted this more than life could ever grant me' and for the honeymoon 'I wanna turn you on'
i have seen a lot of world class bands but, and by the way i wasnt a fan of them or anything but i have to say they are the best live act i ever saw, they took my fuckin face off.
ledzepman36 If only he could sing half decently...
@TKD3movies ya it is chamberlain on drums
Nice lookin', Corgan.
loves darcy
That isn’t Darcy
@edufur yeh... it's kinda sad; I wouldn't voluntarily pay for a tsp concert ticket itself... maybe for an event like the good bye tour or something like that.
Still Corgan makes great music.
billy's voice is SOOO much better now than in 90s
why can they just reunite ??that would be soooo amazing !
@ AJD7DC it has nothing to do with the number of tries. In a music video they lipsync to the studio track.
@sonickd1 Jimmy Chamberlin, The original Drummer for the Smashing Pumpkins...-.-;
Me too :(
I'm sorry but the Pumpkins died when the original lineup left... It will never be the same.
@20sk You took my comment, and I see here I wasn't the only one who had the hots for her !
I agree with u, but I also think the 60's, 70's, and 80's had great rock music.
I was promised Smashing Pumpkins... I get Billy and some other guys...
nice solo
@yonsuckas He's 44 now.
He recorded Siamese Dream when he was 23/4.
Yeah...
lol...yeah man i forgot to give it up for the VICIOUS drum play...
@Finedotwrx no it's Ginger Reyes
i play this song on rockband unplugged.. i always get it perfect in expert mode
yeeee
@MISTADANMAN360 man theyr amazing but it isent the guys fault his voice probably changed since the song came out lik its really old like it was back when he had hair.
you guys thinking his voice sounds bad here should hear how bad it was on SNL in 1993/4. this is better.
@bobywade517 im a kid but i like this kind of music
i so want the tab for the ending solo
He wrote the song for himself, so he gets to perform it however he wants. If he wants to sing the lyrics backwards he can. Got it? Thats what 90s rock was about. I don't think he has lost his voice. @Viktir666
I fucking agree, he completely missed that live
did anything happen to billy to affect his voice, or is he just getting old?
awesome!!!
anyone, do you have tabs for the ending solo pls
I agree this is a bad performance of Today, but over all he still perform this song good at other concerts. I saw Bullet With Butterfly Wings from this show too and it sounds bad too. I think Billy Corgan was having a bad day.
Yeah, I know what you mean, and I feel the same way about some of their recent work. I just don't believe the "fault" is on the new members. Time has passed, music has changed, Billy aged, etc. It's another band, and maybe it would still be a different band even with the original line-up. By the way, Oceania is looking great.
Is any of the original lineup there besides Billy?
I think Fender just discontinued his signature model :( . It's not on there website anymore.
@lonerfreak199 lol they got back together like 7 years ago man
@jake6382 true that
but i like the solo at the end nice
When Kurt Cobain said fade away, he meant shit like this.
Right now in my time is 12:20
I think their live performances always stopped them from being mega popular.
it's not the same voice
agent 47 is rocks.!!!!!!! lml.
I mean, im a Zeppelin man so im always comming from a disdainful perspective. I used to see the pumps videos and tunes and promos and be, meh, just another band. BUT. when you see this band live THEN they make you understand.
The bass player im sorry i dont know her name but i would worship that woman all day long i think im in love.
hey what distiortion is the dude using ?
@Khievin7 Don't you mean Lex Luthor looks like him? :)
All im sayin is we gota geter togethem.
Eemhem....french fry Tators.
