Good how to boys! Save people a lot of money this type of thing. Disposable measuring jug is a must to avoid over filling.

I have a 2016 Astra J Limited Edition turbo. The sump plug is also T45 & the filter housing is 24mm.
It appears that the very small Vauxhall Ecotec VVti Turbo engines require a totally different 5w30 oil to the Corsa VXR, as smaller turbo engines are prone to low-speed pre ignition (super knock). GM issued a technical bulletin about the oil quite recently, so the oil specified in the service book is not correct on some pre-2017 models.

The 1.4 Turbo engine appears to have an issue with Vauxhall approved oil, so i have the drain out the Dexos 2 oil & fill with 5w30 Millers XF LSPI oil, which costs £40+ per bottle.
Once this is done, i can fit a K & N panel filter & look into custom ecu remapping on a rolling road to bring the torque up to 185-190lbs/ft.
stuartmolyneux64 we bought a 1.4T for the channel as well as the VXR. Should be fun to work on them both in the near future!

Do you have option to check life of oil on 2008 model vxr through trip or hidden menu feature?
Jonothan Niblett thanks for watching man! I’ve certainly not seen it dude. It’s just based on mileage anyway, not any quality indicators so you could just clear one of your trips and use that as an indicator and change when you reach 6k miles or whatever your usual rate is!

Arts&Trusts thanks man. I still get my car serviced annually to maintain the service history. These are just additional oil changes. The more the merrier. So long as it’s the correct oil quality, I can’t see an issue.

Arts&Trusts just a garage, not Vauxhall. They’re very pricey!

Dublife_junk Insta if I’m entirely honest mate, I don’t think it’ll make a difference until you hit big power. Standard enough NGK plugs will be more than enough 😀 thanks man

Jamie Mcghee you must’ve spat out your tea aswell! It’s mental for the amount of time it takes. All in, including filming it was around 30 minutes and less than £35!
