Hello guys! We also made a video about "DO JAPANESE THING"!! ua-cam.com/video/jz2LOYzyOko/v-deo.html And what JAPANEWSE product do you want to see like this? Please let us know your idea!!
Please do a video on Cup Noodles! Most UA-cam videos only get to the public side of the cup noodles museum, if you could go behind the scenes like this video, that would be すごい!
Please ask Kawai if they would show Cathy around their factory in Ryuyo. That factory is incredible. The latest technology combined with traditional craftsmanship results in some of the best pianos in the world. Ask to see how they make the famous hand-made Shigeru pianos named after the founder’s grandson who made some major innovations. I’m sure that not only AskJapanese subscribers would be interested but you would draw in a whole new audience. Watch James May’s tour of Yamaha for some ideas including attempting to wind the copper onto the bass strings. I’d love to see Cathy try that. What do you think?
I'm going to assume salad flavor Pretz is like a ranch flavor? This was interesting, and now whenever I see the boxes at work I'll know where they came from.
Not me eating pockys rn while watching this video. They are amazing. I also tried a Japanese soda today, which wasn't bad either😊I love different foods/snacks and drinks from different places
I cannot wait for the video. My little cousin just recently discovered Pocky (since where I live they are nonexistent) I brought some with me and she is now obsessed. I've always wondered how Pocky is made so I'm gonna tell her to watch this video with me🙂
It is so weird how common Pocky has become in the US. Huge pallets of Pocky at Costco, and every Walmart carries Pocky, usually several flavors. Regular grocery stores have it. I forget where I was, but I saw just some random parent with their child and the kid was eating Pocky and thinking nothing of it. Hi-Chew is also spreading like fire. Even stores like Family Dollar carry Hi-Chew now and sell out. Crazy world. And tasty!
You're right on it being tasty. In my neck of the woods, one can even find Pocky at local liquor stores and some gas stations (just like Hi-Chew). Even smaller stores like Grocery Outlet carry Pocky and practically sell them for chump change 😋
I loved this video! It's also so nice to see that they recycle to feed the farm animals and that they have no waste. I know Japan is very big on recycling (as everyone should be), but it's always nice to see big companies that truly love up to it. Keep up the amazing work がんばって!
This makese so hungry. Love seeing how Pocky is made. I had no idea they made it sweeter for the usa. I've had pocky in Japan and the USA and never noticed, but I also ate them not together and several months apart. I have not tried pretz but I would like to if i get the chance. I'll have to look at my local Asian grocery and the grocery stores here what sell Pocky and see if they carry pretz.
ohhh that was very interesting to see how Pocky are made. THank you CathyCat. Totally did not know that American Pocky is sweeter than Japanese Pocky. Really want to try Japanese Pocky now.
I have only seen the chocolate and the strawberry ones in Canada. Too bad you couldn’t have loaded up with samples but you did get a gift bag. Great video.
I go to the Asian store or the Japanese food store to buy pocky. I like them with less sugar and they are usually the ones sold in Japan with labels glued to the Box in English. But occasionally we have found Pocky made in Indonesia or in Vietnam at the Asian store. My favorite are the thin Pocky with a dark chocolate! Many people in the United States call them "puck-ee" or "poke-ee".
factory visit is always fun because we can get sample product at the end of the tour lol anw I remember trying pocky because of one of Harlem Beat manga character (i forget the character name) but it wasnt special, like, it doesnt make me want to eat it again n again, maybe because i prefer salty snack instead of sweet one, so yeah that is the first n last time i try pocky now pretz, that sounds interesting, she said its salty
Beautiful episode, like a documentary one that you can see on channels like Discovery. Your guest has been very nice explaining all the process. I've loved the video!
Wow Cathy! This may be your best video ever! I love Cathy Cat in the Pocky box at the beginning - especially when you sink down into to out of view. 😂 A great presentation from the lady at Pocky - so professional and she looks like a very stylish lady too! 😎😍 Can you imagine if they made a bonus toy of Cathy Cat to put in some of the packages! That would be awesome. Thank you so much for such an interesting video. 👏👏👏
I noticed when you started the pretzel segment the music we hear is the signature songs of the U.S. military. Is that played in the factory or was that added by your editors? Why use this music? As a U.S. Marine who spent over 13 1/2 years in and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) I am mixed on this. I am glad others know our music but uncertain on how it relates to a factory in Japan. Can you please explain?
They probably didn't know that the music was used by the US military. You mean around 11:30? Director-san oftne uses classic music (as earlier in this video) and that one probably was just one more song.
@@steemlenn8797 Yes, used 'Anchors Away', Navy song, 'Marine Corps Hymn', and one of John Phillips Sousa's marches. Just didn't seem to fit the theme of the video.
I really prefer buying japanese products that are made in japan and unfortunately that recent batch of pocky my store got was from thailand. Nothing against thailand as I am sure they make it just as well as in japan, but I wanted it to be part of theme basket of made in japan stuff. Had to skip it for this basket. This was a japanese grocery chain in the us, Mitsuwa.
The box for mine (US) say they’re a product of Indonesia. 🥲 I’m not hating, I just thought it was only made in Japan and I’m a little disappointed. They’re still tasty and a favorite of mine, though!😊

I LOVED filming there for Ask Japanese and I kept asking tons of questions cause I am such a curious CathyCat. I’m sure you’ll love the video!
You know what they say about curiosity and the cat!
She got Pocky!😸
I'm going to assume salad flavor Pretz is like a ranch flavor? This was interesting, and now whenever I see the boxes at work I'll know where they came from.
Never seen these in the UK or am I missing something?
@@ian_s7481 yes your missing out ! canada has them but gotta go to a asian food store to find it
@@ian_s7481 we have pocky here but it’s called mikado

So cool!!! This totally feels like one of those school field trips!!!
子供の頃から通じて一番楽しい工場見学でした。カティさんのような先生が引率だったらよかったのに。

Why am I not surprised they add more suger and sweet to USA’s Pocky
I'm glad they let you tour it. looks like you had a lot of fun
ohhh that was very interesting to see how Pocky are made. THank you CathyCat.
Totally did not know that American Pocky is sweeter than Japanese Pocky. Really want to try Japanese Pocky now.
Everthing is sweeter in the US. Even the (white toast) bread has double the sugar amount than in Germany.
I have only seen the chocolate and the strawberry ones in Canada. Too bad you couldn’t have loaded up with samples but you did get a gift bag. Great video.
Bought them since they are on discount, perfect for a snacking.
I've just recently tried pocky and i love it!
UK version of these are called MAKIDO as well, never tried them but they have been around for a long time😎
Beat me to it but it's Mikado
Thanks for this. I really enjoy seeing how things are made. I hope you'll do more. I will not confess to buying some Pocky after watching this.
What a cool idea for a vid.
That was fun! I'd never heard of Pocky before and I love chocolate so I'll look for them here in Arizona, USA.
..wow thank you for featuring this, it's first time..
I was just about to sleep and this comes up, now it looks like im staying awake to see this!
Actually ima watch it tomorrow when im awake, hopefully you guys like this without me xD
United States Marine Corp Hymn is an interesting choice for the background music of a snack making vid. ;-)
I want a dark chocolate Pocky in the U.S.
I noticed that too and I assumed it was to represent the military precision of the manufacturing process! 😎
That part of the BGMs reminds me of an anmie "Girls und Panzer's"
@@GOMBE3 GUP was awesome! 😀
I love Pocky! Thanks for sharing Ask Japan
I love the glico company! Pocky is delicious :D 🌸🇯🇵

you are way to excited for a factory tour, i love it
In Indonesia, similar packaging or same with the original japan.
Red box.
Here in the US they sell Pocky from Indonesia.
But the one from Japan somehow tastes better a bit different
factory visit is always fun because we can get sample product at the end of the tour lol

great content as always. I hope Japan opens up to visitors again soon, I really want to visit.
What?! Semper Fidelis for the Pocky Factory Tour music? 🤔
Always Faithful. 👍
So wish we had smell-o-vision. Looks so tasty. I love Pocky now just need to get some of the Japan version to taste the difference.

Temperature 20c=68f,not 60f.
I always like cathy's "Happy Dance" she looks so cute.
Did not know this was how Pocky was made! Cool!
Yay! Love the thumbnail!
Used to love Pocky while studying with a cup of coffee.
The machine that folds 2 packages per second... you would probably need a dozen humans to do the same. That is why automating stuff is so incredible.
I love Pocky, i sometimes use it as a chopstick before eating it

Gosh i love pocky i can eat it everyday.....
fun fact, in Italy (like many other European countries) we call them Mikado

But the question is why is Pocky called Mikado here where I live ? 🧐
Watch the video and you will know, that it is marketing strategy 😉
@@christianaliaschr yeah I know the game … but why name it like that
Not sure if this answers to your question directly but Mikado is another word to mean Emperor.
Mikado are European Pocky 😱😱😱😱
That was a interesting video Cathy Cat. I didn't know that Pokey is a product of Japan 👌❤️😊👌
so cool
Ramune 😊
I want a Cathy in my Pocky box.
I love these Pocky sticks my favorite is the Almond crush 🥰😘❤️
面白い‼ポッキーだ
Do DARS Chocolate 🍫 next !!
glicoさんサイコーーー
Pocky are my favorite sweet snack, I like the oreo and cream, but lately I don't see the Pocky anymore in 7/11
Is it PO Key or POC Key? Cathy said it both ways.

Hola
No captions after a short time.
I didn't know Mikado was Pocky!
well in all Europe it called mikado
3:45 Is this japanese exploring show lack of calculation, its adds one more 「zero」in the final answer. That count gets wrong 😂
Why so much secret about pockies being bathed in chocolate? Secret ingredients? Secret non-patented technology? Btw what's an UFO tracker? 😄
Well isn't Watanabe adorable
