Hello from Lima, Peru. Thanks for showing Brazil. It is an unkown country for most of us. We know it is giant country, but at the same time so unseen for the World. Beautiful in every corner
Most of us brazilians tend to not see those things, because busy life. I've know some people from landlocked states like Minas Gerais who never saw the sea.
You two can travel all over the world, but one thing is certain, everything you are witnessing in Brazil will never leave your memories and you will certainly come back to visit us again one day!
I absolutely love your videos, but I also really appreciate some of the comments from your wonderful community. The ones providing additional information on the history, environment, language or cuisine of the places you are visiting truly enhance the overall experience. Thanks to all who contribute.
So beautiful. The birds are so colorful. As always I love your videos. Traveling along with you two I am loving Brazil 🇧🇷 I think it would make a good place to call home. Prayers for your journey. Stay Safe. 🙏💜✌️🫂☀️
In the south of Brazil every farm needs to have 20% of native forest. It’s law. In the north they need to have 80% of the property preserved. It’s also law.
How wonderful. Wish that was or had been so in New Zealand. The ancestors were very much the clear fell and it still continues. And still does even where there are rules. They get a slap on the wrist and the trees are felled.😢
@JudyClark, Actually the law does not apply to southern Brazil only, but to the whole country since it is a federal law and not a state law. In most case when the media says the amazon rainforest is being burned down, it is not exactly like that since the rainforest is so humid that it simply does not burn. It happes that another bioma called cerrado, which covers the center-west region of Brazil has some areas used for cattle breeding and agriculture. As the Amazon Region englobes part of the cerrado, mostly in the state of Mato Grosso, people who are not aware of what the Amazon Region is believe that the whole Amazon rain forest is burning down to ashes.
Nelson, they burn the Amazon forest too, specially with the incentive of the former Bolsonaro government. In Belém, a couple of years ago, we could smell it. Thank God we are back to preserving the forest and the police and Armed Forces are now going for those who destroy.
What a cool little town you guys found in the beginning of the video! Snow I love the dresses. I am once again blown away by your videos and I have a deeper appreciation for Brazil. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤
When my italian ancestors first set foot in Brazil, they happen to live in this city of Morretes. Many italians families dwelled there for some time before moving to west territories. Later on they bought farm like lands in the city of Ponta Grossa, 100km from Curitiba.
I would like to suggest posting a video with only the Atlantic Forest and the title of the video about it. You both have done an AMAZING job of capturing the beauty and telling the story about conservation of this very important forest. I just want to see it get A TON of views to spread the message about Brazil’s efforts to preserve this for the world. Love your channel!
THIS is definitely one of my favorite and best videos you have - I mean you put us right THERE in the midst of everything. Y'all deserve an award of some kind for your videos - honestly - I need to research who to suggest/nominate you for because you are TOP SHELF.
Another truly enjoyable video of your adventures in Brazil. What a lovely camp spot in the town with a river and bonus free serenade! Lovely trek in the rainforest. That suspension bridge gave my tummy the whoopsy daisy. That frog was truly camouflaged What a waterfall....worth the rain soaked hike indeed! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Brazil is a paradise for bird watchers, you guys are uncovering that pretty well. Unfortunately 2 months wont be enough to see all of that. We love your videos. Thank you so much for letting us travel with you.
The color of the water in most of the rivers in Brazil come from the tannin in the leaves as they break down in the water along with the minerals in the river bed!
That was a wonderful video! The Atlantic Rainforest has one of if not the largest biodiversity in the world, bigger than that from the Amazon Rainforest. It covers 17 different states in Brazil, not only coastal ones and has a plethora of different ecosystems in it.
Here's a nice tip: in Portuguese, when vowels have a accent mark on top of them (like á, ô, and others), then that's the syllable you're supposed to emphasize/stress in the word. That's why it's paraNÁ rather than paRAná. There are exceptions to that but they are very rare, so it's a good rule of thumb.
Oh yes! Definitely a Green headed tanager - thanks, although his head doesn’t look green to me, more like aqua….but the body is spot on. And I thought that might be a violaceous-capped wn, but it didn’t quite look like enough violet…do you live in Brazil?

just a heads up, you should not be too close to waterfalls and rivers when its raining, in Brazil its common to occur what we call Tromba D'água, the water of the rain builds up, and in a few seconds the region around waterfalls is covered with heavy current.
Good morning Snow & Curt. What beautiful scenery in all of this place that you've been. I have a friend here in Albuquerque that feeds the birds and the hummingbirds will come up and she will hold some water in her hand and look him up and land on her hand and drink two water. Having been in Europe many times it can get cool there. But it is beautiful and you do so much walking in there. I really like that little frog that made me laugh. The Brazilian coastal coast is formed by the Atlantic Forest, extending from the south to the southeast of the country. The Selva Amazonica region is further north. Starting in Alta Floresta in the state of Mato Grosso, 2500 km (1550 Miles), from the State of Paraná. Brazil is very diverse, each region has different cultures than others. Enjoy the trip.

That human interaction is such an integral part of the travel experience. Thanks for bringing us along!
Hi folks, we call those colorful birds SAÍRA (sah-ee-rah) and they are mostly from the Thraupidae family, Tangara genus, and they are frugivorous and definitely don't get used to cages. The yellow one is a canary (canário da terra, south american canary). Take care!

You already are South America experienced travellers. But as long you go north, more carefull you must be. Specially about routes, time your travelling and places you ll be staying at.
I agree with your opinion about Brazilian chocolate. Unfortunately just this week Nestle bought one of the largest manufacturers of chocolate in Brazil, Kopenhagen, and if history repeats itself, it will lose the quality fast. My only hope is that Nestle decides it to be a premium product and doesn’t cheap out too much.
Good morning, in a few days you will arrive at another Brazilian biome: The Cerrado. It starts in the north of São Paulo to the north of the State of Mato Grosso. The peak of the cerrado is the State of Goiás and the Federal District. It is very different from the Atlantic Forest. It has sparse, low vegetation, but the fauna and flora is quite rich: with lots of waterfalls, rivers, animals (. A curiosity about the Cerrado is that while above the surface the vegetation appears to be less dense, below it there is a large forest of roots, this is due to the drier climate, so the roots have to be strong and large enough to find water. There are a lot of fires in the Cerrado due to the drier climate, but the vegetation recovers very quickly due to the size of these roots below ground Happy adventures.
Some local tips: For those traveling to Morretes, Paraná, I recommend Terra Nossa restaurant! It serves the best barreado in Morretes in my opinion. They also offer delicious cassava mayonnaise (we call it mayonnaise, but you might know it as cassava salad) and eggplant mayonnaise (which is indeed a mayonnaise). The fish is also excellent! If you're willing to travel an additional 30km, you can reach Caiobá beach, where I highly recommend Sakura restaurant! Their "variado" dish includes huge shrimp (Rosa), and the fish is delicious too! You can get to Morretes (and Paraná's beaches) by taking a ferry boat in Guaratuba, which means you don't have to go all the way to Curitiba or São José dos Pinhais before. And we can't forget that nearby, there's also 'Ilha do Mel' (Honey Island). You can take a boat from Paranaguá or Pontal do Paraná to get there, and it's definitely worth a visit!
We have around 37 National Parks. Some are bigger than the Uk. The ones in south and souteast Brazil are tropical forests the so called MATA ATLANTICA which goes up to the northeast region. In the north you get the real jungle. It is impenetrable. And cannot be burned becauae it is too wet.
I found your channel late in the game compared to many others that subscribe to you. Maybe 6 months ago or so. But I need to tell you how much I love the two of you. I so look forward to your videos and the commentary you provide as you narrate. You have sparked a new dream to drive south from the states and explore all you have seen for myself. Drive safe dear ones and thank you for all you do and for taking us along!!
Hola👋from New Mexico🌵🙏...Happy 💃 time so glad you have your spare time although I saw it on the last video. And noticed your new hair cut...🤗 and all the trails walks and all the weight you both lost...looking so good.👀🤗 What a bargin on your new dresses. Love the birds shots well all the video and videos. Lots of love sent and angels all around you, your fur babies and your home on wheels.💖🙏🤗
Awesome birds!!! I was able to identify a few of them, (glad you have Merlin) but that one stunning tanager with the golden specked collar eluded me and my guidebooks…bananaquit, red necked tanager, bMlue dacnis and euphonia and Trogon. The hummer was STUNNING!! The sun hit it just right. I know how hard it is to get good photos of birds, which is why I just carry binoculars. Thank you thank you Curt for lugging the tripod everywhere👏👏
Good morning Snow and Curt 🌞 What beautiful camp spots! I bet the kitties loved all the beautifully coloured birds flying around their home. Safe travels down that road in the rain. 🤗🇨🇦
Be careful with trails on rainy days, cause sometimes rains a lot uphill and it may cause a big waterfall, floading the rivers next to the trail. Despite we're on spring, it's known to be dangerous doing trails on summer here in Brazil due to floadings. But this year things are different cause El Niño, so weather is little crazy. I advice you to be careful in trails
Exactly. Heavy rain somewhere upstream can cause flashfloods around rivers. This is particularly problematic near waterfalls, that can turn from beautiful into deadly in a matter of seconds. Sadly, a number of accidents have occurred near waterfalls and rapids in touristy sites in Brazil, because the rain causing the flood might be far away and not even be visible at the site, and often the water surge takes tourists completely by surprise. Caution is advised at those locations.
Snow, your pronunciation of Paraná is indeed perfect 3:15, since it does not contain the "h" after the "n". In portuguese, the pronunciation of "nh" words, i.e., "piranha, montanha" is very similar to the Spanish "ñ", so in Spanish is "piraña, montaña". Bonus tip: the acute accent on Portuguese words, indicates the stressed syllable with an open vowel, so the "a" is pronunced with an "a" like in the word "Amazon", just like you pronounced: /pah/•/rah/•/nah/
Morning Snow and Curt, the little beautiful colourful birds are so lovely, I love watching and listening to your interactions with the people you come across.🙏❤️
One must always be weary of rivers in Brazil due to "cabeca d`agua" (flash flooding) because it might not be raining where you are at, but any heavy rain up river can cause torrential water currents to be formed and it washes out anything in it`s path. Several people die every year in the rivers of Brazil due to a sudden wall of water that comes out nowhere washing them out!
The group of motorcycle riders you spoke to could not have met a nicer couple , than Curt & Snow to open up to to say hello & converse in English❤ I loved the beautiful 🐦 🐦⬛ 😊
Legal means the same thing as in English. The word comes from latin after all. Somehow in Brazil it acquired this extra slang meaning for cool around the 50s. But the original meaning remains. So if you ever see an Instituto Médico Legal, don't go there thinking it's a cool medical museum attraction.😅 It's actually the Medical Examiner's Office or Coroner's Office... i doubt most people would find a visit there cool...
@@SnowAndCurt true, specially because it often is made up from words that already exist. Like cool itself. This reminds me of Back to the Future Doc Brown to Marty: There's that word again. "Heavy." Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull?
What I love the most about your videos is how good you capture all the beauty of Nature is outstanding 👌 ❤ we can tell you love what you are doing ❤❤❤kisses from Utah
It's always nice to see you getting to know my country. Unfortunately, the rains caused great damage in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (where I live). Lots of flooding and more than 40 people dead. . I believe that Santa Catarina is the best and most beautiful Brazilian state to live and do tourism. Joinville was named, in a recent survey, as the best city in Brazil to live in. And it is not for nothing. Enjoy and always welcome to Brazil.
Great footage guys! It looks like a jungle you would see in a fantasy film. It is magical with the rain hitting the canopy and you catch the occasional ray of light peeking through perfectly. I love your channel! safe travels! ☮
I loved this video! Such beautiful scenery. You're so fortunate to be able to do this, but I can go along vicariously 😁through your videos. I've always been very curious about South America. Maybe I can go someday! I loved the birds you shot, too. So gorgeous! Enjoy your new clothes, Snow! Hugs to you both.

For all the non Brazilians out there when you encounter 2 "RR" together you are supposed to pronounce it like the letter "H". Funny enough the "H" is silent if it is the beginning of the word like Hospital for example. "QU" the "U" is silent and you would pronounce it like "K" in example "Queijo".

Oh no! I hoe nestle does the right thing!
the world is a monopoly :/
Unfortunately, chocolates from Brazilian companies Lacta and Garoto became low-quality rubbish after Lacta and Garoto were bought by multinationals.
Good morning 🌞 the natural forest was amazingly beautiful that waterfall is gorgeous what an amazing feeling you had to of experienced stay safe.
Thank you for the kind words!!!
I love seeing all the amazing colourful birds. Everywhere you go is so wonderful , that waterfall is magnificent 😃 💜
This so much made me want to go to Brazil. I love your videos!
Comendo pastel com café, definitivamente viraram brasileiros.❤
Awesome birds!!! I was able to identify a few of them, (glad you have Merlin) but that one stunning tanager with the golden specked collar eluded me and my guidebooks…bananaquit, red necked tanager, bMlue dacnis and euphonia and Trogon. The hummer was STUNNING!! The sun hit it just right. I know how hard it is to get good photos of birds, which is why I just carry binoculars. Thank you thank you Curt for lugging the tripod everywhere👏👏
Locais muito bonitos. Esse vídeo parece até um documentário do National Geographic
Humming birds has the best name in Portuguese; "Beija Flor" which means "Kiss the flower"
Good morning Snow and Curt 🌞 What beautiful camp spots! I bet the kitties loved all the beautifully coloured birds flying around their home. Safe travels down that road in the rain. 🤗🇨🇦
Vanna gets crazy excited!!! G loves them too.... But vanna is a bird fan.
Bonus tip: the acute accent on Portuguese words, indicates the stressed syllable with an open vowel, so the "a" is pronunced with an "a" like in the word "Amazon", just like you pronounced: /pah/•/rah/•/nah/
woooohooooo! I cannot belive I got it right! LOL
Brasil es legal! 👏 What a beautiful place - and you were almost completely alone exploring that wilderness!
Morning Snow and Curt, the little beautiful colourful birds are so lovely, I love watching and listening to your interactions with the people you come across.🙏❤️
Beautiful birds 😍. Good morning from Hope, Arkansas. I was excited to see what you guys are up to today. Thank you for the beautiful views. ❤❤❤❤️
Love the blue/green dress!! Love that town also!!
The group of motorcycle riders you spoke to could not have met a nicer couple , than Curt & Snow to open up to to say hello & converse in English❤
I loved the beautiful 🐦 🐦⬛ 😊
Always a treat to see the different sceneries even without animals.
Legal means the same thing as in English. The word comes from latin after all.
Somehow in Brazil it acquired this extra slang meaning for cool around the 50s. But the original meaning remains.
So if you ever see an Instituto Médico Legal, don't go there thinking it's a cool medical museum attraction.😅
It's actually the Medical Examiner's Office or Coroner's Office... i doubt most people would find a visit there cool...
Slang is one of the hardest things to learn! Thanks for the tip.
@@SnowAndCurt true, specially because it often is made up from words that already exist. Like cool itself.
This reminds me of Back to the Future
Doc Brown to Marty: There's that word again.
Serra da Graciosa is a spectacularly beautiful place to have a coffee.
Parana, my home state. One of most beautiful of Brazil.
It is beautiful!
Hi, I heard abt the terrible flooding over in Brazil and hoped it wasn’t affecting you. Take care. 🙏🌸
I believe they are north of Rio de Janeiro now. Far from the ciclone
Never get enough of seeing all the bird life !!😊
What wonderful sights and sounds you must be enjoying on this life journey together. ❤
So beautiful you guys!
Birds so colorful and loved the flowers + plants.
You make it so interesting.
Enjoy your videos so much.
Thanks for sharing all the beauty of Brazil with us.
Bem vindos ao Paraná. O meu estado náo tem um grande litoral em extenção mas tem atraçóes. Infelizmente toda a regiáo sul do Brasil tem sofrido muito com chuvas por esse dias.
So sad you did not visited URUBICI in Santa Catarina
Yet another peak into this stunning country. The off the beaten track places prove to be winners time and time again ❤

(Curt, a quetzal is a type of trogon.)
Thank you for the info!
@@SnowAndCurt I thank you for taking us in your amazing travels around the world and for all the love and respect you have shown to both peoples and lands of Brazil!! Wish you guys nothing but the best!!
CARRO say it CAHO = car
CARO = expensive / barato = cheap
REI say it HEY = king
RATO say it HATO = rat
HAHAHA
O rato roeu a roupa do rei de roma.
Sounds like: O hato hoeu a houpa do hey de homa.
Means: THe rat gnawed the king of Rome's clothes.
HAHAHA

Another stunning adventure, love the town where you got your dresses Snow, that was so charming! Beautiful, unbelievable birds and and I love when you meet people along the way! So much fun!💕🇨🇦
You gave a close up if my favorite plants ♥️ Heliconia. These members of the banana family have beautiful zigzag flower inflorescence with bright red and yellow coloration. Florists love to use them in large arrangements 😍😍😍😍

1:12 Hello Snow and Curt, I continue to enjoy every minute of your journey you share. It's people like you that keep a positive international climate between people and cultures of different countries. I plan to visit Morretes. It looks like the perfect place for a single traveler.
Thank you again for the culture you bring to us.

Good day for you two. I've been watching your videos, and that's so good to see you're getting to know very good places in Brazil and are having such great time here.
I'd like to suggest you put JALAPÂO on your list when you'll be a little bit up North in the State of Tocantins. That is a must for visitors in Brazil, and you won't regret.
God bless you my friends. Have a great day!❤
Your channel in Brazil will grow a lot, we like travelers who are passionate about our land and who have a different perspective on our country.

There is just something extra special about rainforest environs... and they do tend to live up to their name! YAM xx
Bom dia! You are really close to my town of Pontal do Paraná on the coast. I am a retired US expat, enjoy the small towns of Paraná. Paraná is a beautiful state full of so many different things to explore.
😊 Birds and bromeliads!!!
You missed seeing the 100 year old Ficus ( fig ) tree with roots that form a natural bridge. Leaving quickly was the right thing to do ♥️
I just finished your fabulous Patagonia Series and love seeing what you are doing currently as you post the videos! You guys make me smile!! (I make a point to watch every commercial...want to do my bit to keep you on the road; especially since you love it!) Blessings from Greece!
This is so chock full of beautiful everything, must watch twice!
