  • Watch as I teach you how to make a Goblin Mercenary for HeroQuest. Today, I show you how to implement a Goblin Mercenary, something I've always wanted to utilize in the dungeons of HeroQuest. Goblin sculpts can be found at Etsy on the MiniHeroesNVillians, and TableTopTradesman sites.

@JeffWitty The magic of hombrew! I debated about making him a hero, but he worked best as a mercenary. Thanks for the watch.

@yodaflyz Everything HeroQuest is fun! Well, everything but the Polar War Bears. They are the worst!

    Great video as aways!
I've thought about making monster mercs for a while, nice to see someone put it into practice. It looks super fun.
One mechanic I was thinking about using was this:
Anytime someone searches for treasure and gets a wandering monster, after the WM attacks and moves, the hero that searched rolls 2 combat dice. If they roll two black shields, the Monster Merc decides to betray the party and joins the WM in attacking the heroes, or maybe just flees having stolen a potion or some gold from the nearest party member. If you wanted to be a nice Zargon, you could balance it with something like: If the hero rolls two white shields, the Monster Merc convinces the WM to leave or immediately gets to attack the WM.
Bottom line, you can never fully trust a Monster Merc! :)
I definitely like the idea of using a different color. A lot of your video it was hard to tell at first glance which was the Merc and which was the actual Goblin enemy.

@CharlesBHamlyn I like your idea. Have you put it into practice yet? I purchased the other sculpt so we can tell who is who, but I can see how hard it was from the top view. Love your input.

Hmmm....good character merc, but needs a few balancing rules.
I would lower it's BP by 1. So 4 total instead of 5. Then give it the skill "Agile" instead the move attack move.
Disarm traps skill is fine, but you should give it a skill when it loots the room, it can draw 3 cards and discard the 2 to have your party avoild traps, hazards and wondering monsters. This should balance it out and keep it more with the Goblin theme.
However this is just my opinion and suggestion.
Overall great video and please keep up the great work!

Love the treasure loot idea! I didn't go down that path because typical mercenaries aren't allowed to search for treasure, BUT he is atypical. Love the community insight. That's why I made this channel.

Great vídeo! The mercenary ogres in the original expansion game have only 4 Body points. So what I would do, to solve this is to increase at least one or two points to the ogre expansion "Against the Horde of Ogres", and I would put less life points to the goblin. For example: 3 body points, but you can only wear a shield and helmet, and you cannot carry weapons with two hands. His ability to move through monsters and heroes, to move before and after attacking, and his 3 defense dice should give him plenty of options to survive despite his low body points, and makes him a much more tactical ally.
