His personality was ultra competitive, yet abrasive at times. I think MJ was a Unique Leader, however it was his bullying through good intentions that lead the way. The mere fact that he used all of his failures in life as fuel, created the monster that’ll forever be remembered as the G.O.A.T.

It worked for Jordan because he was extraordinarily talented and knew he would never be traded but it was his talent that led them to victories, not necessarily his leadership, his teammates endured it because of his talent and what his talent would bring to them. The Wizards years showed that while Jordan was still a good player, his talent couldn't bring them great success and everyone just got tired of him. His style works but is very limited in how it works and only works when you are uniquely talented, are secure in your position while no one else is secure, and you have to bring great success to others around you. It’s called The Last Dance!!! A documentary about the last year of the Chicago Bulls and the years leading to that year. Michael Jordan is the star of the documentary for obvious reasons. But this documentary is about the Chicago Bulls history until the 1998 season.
LMAO!! So true. That's how you know Shannon is just a Jordan hater. I get Lebron is your favorite player, but DAMN, 4 JERSEYS behind you?! That's a str8 Stan. LOL! I don't see Skip with a bunch of Jordan jerseys behind him. I think Shannon get paid by Lebron's team.
P Raw Shannon is trying to degrade Michael Jordan's drive and leadership style. Michael Jordan wasn't a bully. It was tough love. Much like the discipline he was raised with. LeBron's a passive aggressive bully which is the worst. He would turn teammates against me other or play them behind their backs. Remember the "LeBron's gonna trade you!" chants. He was probably talking cool to players and the next thing they knew 3-4 of them got shipped to New Orleans for Anthony Davis.
Best part in this Documentary were 1) Jordan walking along side with the security guard who he played games with. 2) Jordan getting emotional at the end of the episode 7 3) Jordan practicing. 4) Jordan crying on the floor after winning. 5) Jordan laughing about, you know what.
If his teammates complained about that, then they should have gone to another team. It’s one thing if MJ acted that way and he had yet to win a championship and always got booted in the first or second round. The dude was sitting on back to back to back to back rings
The thing with Kobe was he so introverted in the beginning of his career compared to MJ that he isn't perceived as the same kind of "Bully" as MJ. He also was perceived more of a selfish ego maniac vs the Bullying type of leader(though he did do the same things as Jordan most likely). There's always levels to things. Just like Kobe is perceived as a MJ clone/imitation, this aspect doesn't usually get the same kind of spotlight when it came to comparisons.
@@ENB90 Good points. I'm a Lakers fan, big Kobe fan, but I can admit to and see how people would call some of Kobe's antics, bullying or toxic. Toward the end, no one wanted to come to LA, maybe due to his age, but I think more so due to the fact that they knew they would have to answer to Kobe. The way he handled the rookies and new Lakers, the way he dealt with Dwight, the way he dealt with and pushed Andrew Bynum and Odom. Also the way he went back and forth with Shaq jocking for the Alpha spot on the Lakers...I can see a lot of Michael in Kobe, not only in their games.

Bc it’s a double standard, when LeBron has talked down to his teammates or been mad at them, he’s been eaten alive called a bad leader, but MJ could’ve killed someone and they’ll say “That’s just his killer instinct”
MC The documentary was always mean’t to focus on MJ... & the bulls dynasty. That’s what it says on the front cover of “The Last Dance”. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that people are so focused on MJ. After the first couple episodes Scottie and Rodman got their shine don’t forget that but the rest of the series has so far focused on MJ and the whole team collectively.
Kobe always got the respect. His whole life was a combination of trying to be like Jordan and finding himself. Kobe's an icon. Tim Duncan gets no respect
@Michael Corazo But don't say Kobe's overlooked or disrespected. Everybody knew Kobe because he was an exciting player, scored alot of points and played for the Lakers. Kobe doesn't get his first 3 without Shaq.
Michael Corazo IMO it’s just because bron is playing rn that they keep bringing this up. When Kobe was playing they’d do the same. When they’re all retired they’re gonna be comparing Luka or Giannis or KD to MJ and Lebron fans will say he’s getting no respect. Imo it’s just the media strategy. Lebron is the closest active player to MJ and super popular and relevant so they’re looking at him rn
He gets too much respect for copying another man to a tee. Yes he was the most similar to mjs playing style........he was nowhere near the 2nd best player of all time
Shannon: "How does Scottie making that decision have anything to do with Michael? It's his documentary" Meanwhile... there was entire episode dedicated to Dennis Rodman. There was a whole piece on Phil Jackson and his background. Clearly everyone's individual story helps shape the "Last Dance", why pick out one piece, isolate it and try to criticize it for being there.
Ryan Satchell Shannon is faking the game. He knows the doc is just not about Jordan but about Pippen Rodman Grant Phil & the players on the championship teams. Dude is acting goofy.
Every locker room in the current NBA needs a Michael Jordan. This boys tough are charmin soft. They are all losers. If you were on Mike's team you are putting the work in whether it kills you or not. He was rough and crossed the line, but he held people to the same standards he held himself. He wasn't going to let you slack off. He pushed you physically and mentally. Its good to be buddy buddy people will sometimes die for you, but it doesn't create that work ethic. Jordan's work ethic was instilled in him like a tough father instills in his sons. He made his team great and it helped him become great.
Like he said he would never ask you to do something that he hasn’t done. You would be mad too if you are putting in the work and you have people around you who don’t care. Everyone leads different and he lead by example and toughness!
Those ends don't justify the means, Shannon? That attitude is what got MJ 6 rings or even Kobes 5 for that matter, and last time I checked both 6 and 5 are more than somebodies 3

Exactly so this notion that jordan is so mentality tough and that he doesnt care about what other think makes no sense.... the players back then will not survive in todays age of aocial media criticism
It's simple, Jordan challenged his teammates to ween out the ones who didn't have what he thought it took to go all out in the name of winning. Call it bullying or motivating or whatever. The formula worked 6 times. Belichek's formula has worked 6 times too and a lot of people don't like his style. Professional sports is strictly about winning. This ain't Sunday softball. No room for "having a good time" and winning simultaneously (until my Bucs change that this year).
I respect how MJ just took what he was given and tried to develop his teammates into champions as opposed to trying to get everyone traded he didn't like.
He motivated the way he learned with his brother Larry. He became confident once he started beating his brother. So, he stimulated his player colleagues the same way.
Shannon Sharpe: Now Skip, Mike was a bully. My Grandpa always said: "Son, what goes around comes around." Skip Mike cried out at the end of episode 7 because of guilt.... Skip.

Leadership is working through other people to achieve a common goal. He knew he needed his teammates to win. So he made them become the players they needed to become in order for them to win championships
Lol Shannon tryna call him a bully but the people he supposedly bullied all said that their relationship got better and they could finally count on each other. These are grown men not teenagers. Kobe copied mike's mentality and win at call cost attitude, 5 chips lol. Whenever Lebrons teammates don't perform he just trades them or leave's the organization.
Both Shannon and Skeeeup have lost perspective I agree. Actually I'm not sure if they ever had it lol. Everything between these two is about MJ vs Lebron. Now, to say this documentary is about the Bulls not about Jordan is like saying an Apple documentary is not about Steve Jobs. Sure, there were more people involved, but this is about a leader doing whatever it takes to take a group of people to the very top.
Jace Collins all of you are missing the point Shannon mentioned why is that piece of Scottie included, however the entire doc is about the bulls dynasty and how it ended ofc Jordan is the star of it all but the point of this whole doc is to gather different perspectives of all the situations they’ve endured.
My take, Lebron is like Pippen being friendly and all that having fun playing with everyone else. While the real GOAT is really pushing his teammates to excel! And come close to the greatness he is on! That's leadership!
Lebron didn't need a break from the NBA, didn't stop talking to a national magazine (Sports Illustrated), stopped being friends with someone for being critical, addiction problems, needed full control of the documentary to control the narrative. But sure Lebron is the sensitive cry baby.
No I think that would have too much on the other players , Phil gave the team balance that it needed , he let Michael be him but he kept the other guys sane enough to put up with mike
The documentary is bringing that entire team top to bottom down to earth. Its eliminating the GOD like memories we all had of MJ and the team. I'm very surprised this is what it turned out to be. It's more a behind the scenes of what we didn't see or don't remember. He is being humanized...MJ was a unstoppable scoring machine who ruled with fear by bullying, insanely competitive and very much enjoyed gambling. Jerry Krause built the perfect team around Jordan and also ended it too soon. Pippen complained, Rodman left for Vegas for 48 hrs, odd personality but a rebounding genius...so much in this...

Shannon u got to challenge them in practice to rise during tuff times, so when it comes to money time they would be ready to take it to the next level and battles tested all because of practice. That’s a Leader! No difference from a General leading an Army.
You can challenge somebody without doing what MJ did to some of his teammates I played sports for years... I always enjoyed being challenged but it’s a fine line between being challenged and being disrespectful
Being challenged got them 6 Rings and Notoriety even to this day! They are remembered and probably forever because they took it to another level being challenged!
First time i heard that bully is OK, being disrespectful is OK, if you really want your teammates to play at higher level then motivate them, help them understand ur struggles and how u overcame it. But just outright demeaning them is not OK in my books. Any self respecting person would not agree to it. Just because the result was very favorable the means to achieve them were right.
Firstly, it’s not war... it’s basketball. Secondly, not even army captains do this to their men. Back in the old days (not even that old.. like during Vietnam), a captain/lieutenant would catch a bullet in his back if he treated his soldiers bad. Mike was only able to do this because he was enabled. It was bullying, by any metric of the word, don’t be voluntarily blind because you wanna be ‘like mike’.
Shannon how much did you get “bullied” as a rookie or just in general in the NFL? I’m sure it was quite a bit. So did you just call them a bully and cry about it? Quit finding reasons to hate on MJ. It’s getting so old.
Tanmeister yeah Shannon looks crazy for this take as much trash talk as he did in his prime. Some would consider that ‘bullying’ by today’s measure. But Shannon would say that’s part of what made him great. It’s part of why Shannon is sitting in that seat today. So his take on Mike here is off to me.
What did you think about episodes 7 and 8 of 'The Last Dance'?
They both were good episodes. They really went in depth with both of them.

The doc has been way beyond what I was hoping. It's almost the ultimate Jordan/bulls documentary. We've never had this good of a look into Jordan. And for me it's further enhanced my view that he is the without question the goat, and one of the most unique humans to ever exist.

Jayvee Naredo nope! Lebron would never quit cause He wanted the last shot. Bron is built from a different cloth.
Mai Spann-Wilson He quit in an finals game when they still had a chance to win. Game 1 of finals. His also quit in other finals game
Lebron didn't need a break from the NBA, didn't stop talking to a national magazine (Sports Illustrated), stopped being friends with someone for being critical, addiction problems, needed full control of the documentary to control the narrative. But sure Lebron is the sensitive cry baby.
Mai Spann-Wilson didn’t he quit against the Celtics magic mavs and warriors lol
MJ was a horrific bully GBOAT Greatest Bully of All Time
If Jordan had played under Pat Riley 🤯OMG!!! They both have the same drive. Michael would had won at least 8 championships.
Phil is better than pat.
Even with phil if there were no retirements until 2000
No I think that would have too much on the other players , Phil gave the team balance that it needed , he let Michael be him but he kept the other guys sane enough to put up with mike
Pete Pan you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Skip always "there" smh
Skip was there when I was born 😂😂😂
Skip: I was there in 1998 I was a columnist for the Chicago Tribute
Me: still looking for skip creditials 👀
LeeTravius Mckay Skip was there for 6months act like he was there for Jordan’s whole career
Kawhi’s Uncle Dennis 98...... not 91-98 or even before he started winning ...... that’s literally one year lmao
@@danacherry90 That 1 year he was there still gives him way more credibility on his opinion than shannon's
@@danacherry90 how do you know that he wouldnt have stayed longer had that team stayed together? he never once said he was there any other season than 98.. you act like hes lying. so what if he was only there one year, that season was a long marathon, 82 games plus the playoffs all occurs within 5-6 months so one season is enough to justify his credentials. At least he was there, most analysts make comments and "analyze" from an outside perspective, and they werent there at all. Hate skip all you want, but he prob covered sports longer than the time you been on this earth
@@jordanmack4565 That would be like Shay continuously bringing up his HOF and 3 rings credentials. Baseless is so insecure in his opinions that he has to bring up credentials like a broken record, again and again and again... The only folks that give any time to Skip is if they are paying them to be on the show. Listen to the Barkley's and athletes that don't come on the show, they can't stand him! Cuban made Skippy look lost on First Take. Open your ears, Baseless is doing his job (entertaining) but his garbage opinions/takes are absurd!
Shannon please stop it. What Jordan did was not bullying. I was always a shy boy as a kid. This was at a P.E class and we had this dude who was like Jordan. At first I was like "What?" but thanks to him I got better at playing basketball very fast. We all did. Later coach saw me play and wanted me to try out for his basketball team. If it wasn't for him I would be still a shy kid who had the skills but never able to use that skills.
Shannon u got to challenge them in practice to rise during tuff times, so when it comes to money time they would be ready to take it to the next level and battles tested all because of practice. That’s a Leader! No difference from a General leading an Army.
Big facts
🎯🎯🎯 Larry Bird wasn't nice either and he had more talented players on his team.
“I had a bad case of loser denial myself”- Billy Madison 1995
Watching the doc while blazed is freaking amazing. Jordan is like a mythological figure. It's wild.
How is it bullying ? I call it pushing your teammates. When it’s time to go to war MJ wants them 2 be ready .
Challenging your teammates to fights isn't pushing ppl.
Matt Glo if that’s how u see it . I see it differently
Wow so if your son is on that team and someone was doing that to him, your going to call that pushing huh?
Firstly, it’s not war... it’s basketball. Secondly, not even army captains do this to their men. Back in the old days (not even that old.. like during Vietnam), a captain/lieutenant would catch a bullet in his back if he treated his soldiers bad. Mike was only able to do this because he was enabled.
It was bullying, by any metric of the word, don’t be voluntarily blind because you wanna be ‘like mike’.
@@Superfly369 what do you mean he literally said I want him to fight me in a good way 😂😂 do you fight ppl in a good way cuz I'm confused 😂?
Last two episodes were the best. So good.
