This is a passion project of mine. I love designing dolls. Barbie was the first doll I ever designed for. But somewhere around 2012 I stopped making Barbie designs and went onto designing Disney princesses, to poppy parker, then back to Disney. And I’ll be honest, my Disney burn out it real. But, a doll that recently has had a resurgence in popularity, Barbie, has resurfaced in my head. And this may sound critical, but it is my opinion, she needs help. When I think of Barbie, I’m just not seeing my vision in today’s collector dolls or playline. And that’s fine, because I can make my own. I’m a woman of action 😎 lol
I decided to make a Barbie when I saw the new Ken Kouture doll, and initially I saw the sketch and got super excited! And then we all saw the doll and I personally still like him. But I know a lot of people were not kenpressed with him. And I thought what if I made him a girlfriend, someone he could play with and go shopping with. As I think we all know that Ken is not romantically interested. Which suits me fine personally. So I said what will make the gays and women want this Barbie, and I thought quality. But then I thought nostalgia, and glamour. So I came up with this design. The design is heavily inspired by Barbie’s history. Which she’s been around for 65 years, and I think we can check the closet and check up on some of the fashions and maybe revise them. So I did! This is my version of “Enchanted Evening”. I decided to use the Odile Barbie head sculpt, as the Millie Barbie sculpt is not my favorite. She gives me not one ounce of attitude or soul. To me, Odile is Barbie’s future. She can be made sassy or sweet and doesn’t look generic. I’m very proud of my work, and I think I did Barbie justice! I’m going to make a few more too so I can have some modern Barbie’s in my collection that I love, and not just like.
If you watch this video I HOPE you take away from it that you can do it to. I really want to see everyone’s take on Barbie. She does mean a lot to quite a few people. So whether you have an abundance of skill, or you have very few skills. I want you to be inspired to try and use your imagination, and isn’t that the purpose of Barbie? To use her for your imaginative fun! Because we can do anything as long as we try.

Your childhood creations are adorable! You did so well. I should show you my first creation made of aluminium foil and patty pans 😂 Lol! Root canal! I actually find the actual act of sewing more painful. I don't mind ironing. WOW! She is stunning! So dreamy! 😍I don't think she does much for Ken though. Putting someone more gorgeous than him next to him isn't going to make him look better.
