The fact that Horror isn’t your favorite film genre, I’m absolutely loving how ecstatic you are about this film. Horror is my 2nd favorite genre. Seriously can’t wait! Love you dude, continue to thrive!
Horror isn’t my favorite genre but this made me appreciate the genre more. As my first Alien movie in theaters I’m glad this was the one! The cinematography was magnificent, the monsters are threatening, and the character development was great! Love love loved this movie a lot!
After years of being a fan of the series this is going to be my first alien movie in theaters and I am beyond excited!!! Thank you coy for your joy for a genera that isn’t your favorite and your joy at just a good movie. Much love! ❤️ excited to see this Sunday
Haha someone else said the same and I looked him up, accurate That poster vs UA-cam ratio size… gonna cause some cloning I worked with him a couple times in collider days - great guy!
Thanks, Coy. You have me excited to see it. I’m so thrilled to hear that the second half incorporates the love of action the way "Aliens” did. I’m more apolitical and nonpartisan than many of your followers, but I can appreciate the idea of a big corporation being its own villain in a film. Plus, I always love me some escapism of watching Facehuggers…lol
Despite its paying homage a bit too much, it's still worth the price of admission. Beautifully shot with best Xenomorphs since Aliens. But sequel needs all-new story with the return of the space Marines and Predators battling Xenomorphs - giving us what we've been talking and wanting for decades. Just get a killer writer, with Fede directing, but totally unleashed and unhinged.
This became one of my most anticipated movies when I saw Fede Alvarez was announced as director. Seeing that you really enjoyed this has allowed me to let my hype loose. SO looking forward to seeing it this weekend! I'm looking forward to seeing your channel grow! We need more of your style of nerd. 💜
Thanks Cory for this AWESOME REVIEW of Alien Romulus!!! To me, Alien (1979) is the Greatest Sci-Fi Horror ever, while Aliens (1986) is the Greatest Horror Hybrid Movie Ever (having more than 2 genres in a horror, that being Action and Sci-Fi). That being said, so can't wait to Alien Romulus this evening at the World's Tallest IMAX!!!
Coy you look absolutely incredible in this video. The lighting, the clothing, the hair & those beautiful eyes. I mean the great content helps too but just wanted to remind you that you’re killing it! 💙
Seeing this film open with credits that mimic the original, and old school style of credits gave the perfect thumbs up to us as an audience. It told me what I was about to see took its time to care about detail. I love how it managed to bring in elements of Alien, Aliens, and Prometheus all in one. Especially, want to praise the set design, sound design, practical effects, tension, and cinematography. I already loved Fede Alvarez, since his Evil Dead (2013). I think this is his best film to date. I Honestly have no major gripes or complaints, when it comes to the elements of the film. It sold the world, Aliens, characters, emotional core, and majority of the fan service callbacks. Yes, you could nitpick small things such as a certain character’s deepfake/CG, some sound mixing with dialogue, certain crowd pleaser moments. In total, those aren’t close to bad or pulling you out of the film and experience. Overall, it jumped to my number 1 spot of the year. Would highly recommend 9/10
It was soo great!!! Loved the homages to the 2 original films and appreciated how the further it went it became it's own beast (get it). That third act was nuts, and I loved every second of it!!!
Agreed. The first half was 10/10 with the tension build-up and slow horror. I like the "specific plot choices" that everybody will talk about. The third act is the honestly only iffy thing. I get why some people would be put off by it. I thought it was just ok. My biggest disappointment was that the film did not actually get to such high level of body horror and grotesque shock that most reactions spoke about. Maybe it was just me, but other movies in the franchise definitely did it better and with more impact, Romulus was quite tame in this aspect. Overall I would give it a 8/10.
Love hearing these great reviews from my favorite channels! Just makes me more excited to watch this movie, and I was already super excited for it! Thanks Coy 😃 Edit: Forgot to mention... I'm down for a spoiler review, will definitely tune in after I see it!
Just got back from seeing this film, what a treat! Had to hear your thoughts. The characters are fabulous, the execution of the story telling, the lore, the aesthetic - nailed it. The CGI was fabulous and the practical creature work was fabulous, they really approached the effects the right way.
Omg...way over the top review here. This guy really enjoyed Romulus. Like 9.9 out of 10. Very happy Romulus is badass in its kinetic freakout energy! I can't wait. An evening weekend showing of this may be necessary to get a good crowd reaction vs a daytime showing.
Faaaaark! I’ve been watching alien movies since I was under the age of 10! I remember them scaring me so much but I could never look away This film took me back! I’ve never been on the edge of my seat like that in a cinema, I love Prometheus and covenant, but I don’t think they affected me like this one just did! 10/10
@@mortagon1451 Yeah. I wasn't a fan of the ending. However, the first two thirds are effing fantastic, and I ABSOLUTELY agree with Coy that it's the best Alien film since "Aliens".
Well, that IS enthusiasm! I'm pulling for this film, mostly as a fan of ALIEN and Fede's work (as well as personally: he brought me on for a bit early on due to my long involvement wit ALIENS, to contribute some visual concepts and some ideas). Actually haven't seen it yet, but, or course, having read the script a couple of years ago, I've been imagining all kinds of possibilities: It was/is a find script on paper, so it had a solid launch point. I'm excited to see the movie this weekend. I don't hate Alien 3 as much as some, but it was definitely missing aspects that make Alien and Aliens so damn good. Those are 2 of my favorite all-time movies. With every other movie in the series since, they have been meh or just bad, never able to live up to the originals. I'm glad Fede Alvarez was able to make a movie that seems to hold up to the OGs from what I'm hearing from the reviews. Thanks Coy
I just got home from watching it and I thought it was excellent! I did notice as I was leaving my review on IMDB that so many people were complaining about how slow it started. Have they not seen the original?! Have we really become a society that can’t sit through a well paced establishing opening that introduces us to the characters and the world? Only instant gratification with no pay off? Sadly I think I know this answer, but curious to hear your take. Also please do a spoiler review!

I’ve seen it twice now and I loved it! Is it perfect? No. Do I wish that there had been more of a budget so a particular part had better cgi, absolutely but the way this was simultaneously a love letter to the past while still being able to provide a new path, a different take with the later half? Solid solid film. Can’t wait to geek out with other alien nuts about it 😂 so glad this didn’t go straight to streaming because the sound design and visuals deserved a big screen

Regardless, I can still at least appreciate Fede doing something new, and frankly pretty ballsy, with the Alien lore (and boy did he). The first 80-85% of this film is some of the best Alien content I’ve ever seen put to screen. The use of practical effects, large sets, acting (which I was surprisingly impressed by since I didn’t know who most of these young actors/actresses were), Wallfisch’s score…..all of it just hit so well for me! I can definitely and confidently put this in my Top 3 Alien films: Alien, Aliens, Romulus. Absolutely loved this film.

Sucks others didn’t but I did and I still call this film the third best in the franchise. I call this film a good fun flawed movie but it is definitely good
Saw the movie last night and I whole-hearted agree with you that this is the best Alien movie since Aliens. However I did like Prometheus, but that's not really an Alien movie, but I still thought it was good. So far this has been the only new horror movie I've seen this year, I'm very ashamed of myself for that, but even so what a horror movie to see

I so can't wait to see this one big fan of the first two films and the alien isolation video game this will also be my first cinema experience with alien can't wait to check it out
I have serious problems with what the movie actually ends up being with a reveal plus that third act. It was clearly forced in where I do feel bad for Fede Alvarez from that standpoint.
I'm debating whether I should see this at Dolby Cinema or 4DX. I know 4DX is more immersive, but the picture and sound quality of Dolby Cinema would be good as well. I have also heard that this movie has amazing sound design so I feel Dolby would benefit that.
Just got out I agree with your thoughts it was a fantastic movie. However I could made do without the last 15 minutes or so but it was still cool to see
Huge fan of Director Fede Alvarez, the first 2 Don't Breathe movies, and the Evil Dead remake were brilliant! Coy, I gotta question for you, I've seen Alien vs. Predator, but, I've always be a bit hesitant when it comes to Alien specifically because on one hand, it's a kind of horror that I don't watch much of,especially by myself, haha, (i get scared of being scared alone, lol), I watched the trailer for this new film during Deadpool & Wolverine's previews, and it kinda got me excited for it, I REALLY want to see this, do I need to at least watch Alien and Aliens to be able to fully understand and enjoy this film?
Some people giving reviews were critical about small things. Personally I’m not all in touch with all of the alien lore and whatever. I have to say, going in just wanting something entertaining and scary, this movie was phenomenal. Once it heated up it was full blast from there on out. I was never bored and I would highly recommend anyone to watch this
This might beat Deadpool and Wolverine as my favorite film of the year. Like Deadpool and Wolverine was a fun movie but this will probably be the stronger and well put together movie. Seems like it’s not game over for this franchise.
You have to do a spoiler review. I've been seeing mixed reviews which makes me concerned. I grew up watching Aliens on VHS on repeat over and over. That film CHANGED me so much. I also love Alien and Alien 3 just about as much for various reason. You really got me hyped up for this.
This will be my first Alien movie in a theater, so excited seeing this reaction from the GOAT Coy!

What's 4DX? I bought my tickets for Dolby
I’d go Dolby! 4DX was fun but I’ll be snagging my second watch in Dolby
It’s using physical elements in seat to enhance experience (tossing rocking mist heat etc)
I really enjoyed it and I think this is a fresh reboot to the franchise..I hope they do more like it
Same!
New to your channel! I’ve bin watched all the films in the franchise this week! I’m so amped for this! Great review! I was worried lol 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Haha yeah it’s had its highs and lows as a franchise! And thanks! Welcome!
I am going sunday dolby/ super hyped
Just got out I agree with your thoughts it was a fantastic movie. However I could made do without the last 15 minutes or so but it was still cool to see
Yeah I didn’t like that move at first but it grew on me
Im excited for this and i amone of yhe few that loves all of the movies minus resurrection. Great review
I just came out of the cinema and I loved this movie. The best alien movie since Aliens for sure. The only thing missing was Ripley.
Glad you dug it too!
Do u recommend watching all the alien movies? Or just the first 2
watch Alien and Aliens ....
this movie takes place inbetween the 2 movies therefore properly creates a new trilogy
then afterwards if you desire watch the 3rd film
Aliens is top five greatest sequels ever
Now that Predator and Alien are coming back into its former glory someones gotta do that for Terminator
Let's do the spoiler! Coy you're great, don't hesitate!

Have my ticket for tomorrow 😊
Yesss
You have to do a spoiler review. I've been seeing mixed reviews which makes me concerned. I grew up watching Aliens on VHS on repeat over and over. That film CHANGED me so much. I also love Alien and Alien 3 just about as much for various reason. You really got me hyped up for this.
Hopefully this weekend if this video keeps moving!
Damnit dude.. I didn't want to pay 30 dollars to buy this movie.. but now I am.
