What a find! Up to now I'd only been aware of Seaman Hook as produced by Leon Schlesinger's studio and Warners. Knew something was up the moment Darrell Calker's swingin' music began. Was Shamus Culhane involved with this?
Does anyone else remember when Donald Duck's nephews played a prank like this on him and it tripped his PTSD from his service in the Pacific so he started running around hallucinating and trying to kill them while screaming racial slurs?
Remember to watch this with a 1943 mindset. The Nation was at war with Japan and this type of racial stereotype was acceptable. PTSD was not emphasized as a result of combat either. Look at this cartoon as a product of its time.

Culhane was the director!

Yes. My dad had nightmares for years after the war.
