Good video. Question, can Zappi control the rate at which the car charges at e.g. 3kwh rather than full 7kwh? Because of solar didn't generate 7kwh or more car could draw power from the grid when charging during day?
Thanks! The Zappi has three modes of operation. On "Fast" mode it will use solar (if available) and grid to charge the EV as quickly as possible. For my 3-phase Zappi that means 11kW. If there is no solar available then the entire 11kW will be grid energy. On "Eco" mode it will use a combination of sources but optimise for solar, when available. In "Eco+" mode it will charge using only solar power - so if there is 3kW coming off the roof then it will charge at 3kW. If 7kW is coming off the roof then it will charge at 7kW (minus any household loads). If nothing is coming off the roof then it will pause charging until there is at least 1.4kW of solar available.
This is great info mate. Definitely will add our hot water system to Our Electric Life when the current one kicks the bucket.

Just wondering if your Zappi connected to WiFi natively. We have a 3 phase unit and there is no option for WiFi in the settings.
With the older models (pre June 2023) you need to buy a separate Hub for that. Later models have it built in.
@@MarksElectricLife Correct. I have the later one - no issues!
