  • Test day at the Clocktower Harley-Davidson Company in Graz:
    Testing the H-D Freewheeler, one of Harley's trikes
    My first ride on a trike ever. It's a bit of a shock: It feels completely different to riding a "normal" bike. To keep up with the group isn't as easy as on a bike. Others who tested it couldn't keep up at all. Every bump knocks you off course, so you have to work constantly in order to go straight on.
    The new Milwaukee-Eight 107 cui engine, on the other hand, is a blessing. As smooth as such a big engine with a displacement of 1745 ccm can be. Altough the engine output per liter is moderate, there's always enough torque available for cruising.
    Conclusion: A trike's not a bike. Definitely made for people who don't have a motorcycle driving license or ones who want to enjoy the Harley sound and touring feeling but don't dare to ride Harley's heavy touring bikes which weigh up to over 400 kg. Fun to try but I'm pleased with two wheels only an rather take the E-Glide or Road King.

    This is just fabulous to watch and enjoy! I really appreciate just the riding without all the commenting on the bike. It's different and refreshing! I love the H-D Freewheeler bikes/trikes and watching this travel through the beautiful countryside and elaborate small towns, is just what I am wanting out of this video! Tremendous color and clarity make this a real favorite! Ride safe and I will look forward to more of your videos!

    Nice Ride good skills Wolfgang.I'm purchasing a 2017 Harley Davidson Freewheeler trike in Vivid Black with the new Milwaukee 8 107 Cubic Inch engine this weekend.There so cool and even though there like 30 thousand dollars out the door.They retain their value because people want them.Great Investment and ride.Smooth and powerful and you can keep up or blow away your friends on the straights.

      I have one and they are great to ride! Like any motorcycle, one needs to "respect" the bike and ride to your abilities. As i have been riding the Trike, I have learned much and it has become very fun and comfortable! I do not want to go back to two wheels, because these are a thrill to ride! Enjoy if you get one and Ride with Peace !

    Question, when you were going into highway curves at 100 ish, did it feel tippy at all? Or planted? I'm torn between the 22 spyder and 22 freewheeler. I know how the spyder handles but I have no idea about the freewheeler

    • @WolfgangPototschnik
      @WolfgangPototschnik  2 роки тому

      As I really didn't want to find out if it tips over, I leant as much as I could in faster curves. 😀 This, the great steering forces and the centrifugal force on your body makes riding it swiftly very exhaustive. In regards to tipping over you'll be better off with the Spyder but both of them are most likely more exhaustive to ride fast than a normal motorcycle where the centrifugal force and the gravity force cancel each other out.
      It's great fun to try it out once in a while but if there is no reason for having a 3-wheeled vehicle in general, I would rather recommend the 2-wheeled version.

      @@WolfgangPototschnik from what I've seen and was told by freewheeler guys, if you don't drive like a dink and go to fast for your abilities, you'll be fine on the freewheeler, when I took the spyder for a ride, I took corners/curves fast on purpose to see and not once did I ever get the "oh shit" feeling, it felt like I was on rails to be honest.. I'm sure with any 3 wheeler you can be safe or feel horrible

    Got a question for you...What brand and model are those passing lights and brackets you have on your Freewheeler, I cannot find any for my wife's Freewheeler...Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!

      GunsHarleysUSA , I have a 2015 Freewheeler . I found found the passing lamps and bracket off a 2013 RoadKing and they fit great! I chose to remove the turn signal lamps on the bottom because it would have left a open gap in the side of the fork where the factory turn signals are now. If you would like to see pics of my Freewheeler as well as my other upgrades, go to instagram and I go by

      As far as I can say it's a stock model without any mods. So, it should be possible to buy these parts as original spare parts.

    How did you like the Freewheeler?

    • @WolfgangPototschnik
      @WolfgangPototschnik  7 років тому +1

      I tested it again on last weekend. The more practise I get the more fun it is. What I like is that you can accelerate reckless when standing on a traffic light. I even did a small wheelie and I wouldn't dare that on the 2nd ride on a Road King. But on corkscrew roads it's hard work. Altough I like to ride it, I would rather take the Road King which is more comfortable.

      Bob Tav , my Freewheeler is a 2015. Unless something has changed between my 15 and your 17, you should be able to start your bike in any gear by stepping on your brake pedal and holding in the clutch! At least that's the way mine works! Let me know if that works for you? - Rick, Apache Jct., AZ
