The Elon Musk laughing insert is hilarious 😂
Lmao
lol
The circles look like what the machines suckers would leave behind, which the robotic arms use to pick up the pannels.
Yes. Thought so myself
Ikr
I use to work at tesla and I remember using a windex, goo gone and a razer on anything glass because adhesive was on everything
When I got the call that my new Charger was being unloaded off the truck I told them not to touch it, detail-wise. It still had some minor issues, but nothing horrible.
I still can’t believe what Tesla gets away with, regarding poor quality. But people keep buying them and just accept that it’ll be fixed later.
Yea ive seen some bad reviews for the model 3 in winter as it was poorly designed for winter. You pay for the technology not the build quality.
Just going to clear this up, they don't get away with the bad quality, they are very well aware of the issues their vehicles have. Issues that are reported usually do get fixed within the first month of ownership.
You must be wondering why Tesla's have issues.
Due to the limited supply + high demand, they need to pump these cars out at extraordinary speeds. They only have 3 factories as of this video up and running. So they do have to sacrifice quality in order to meet demand and just fix the issues the buyer reports on the app. So they are for sure trying to fix these issues, they aren't doing it "later", they are doing it as soon as they can. After Giga Berlin and Giga Texas is done, expect better quality vehicles being pumped out. And that's a promise.
@@Joshua-xv1vb Tesla's drive amazingly in winter. It has a strong foot to the ground, rarely slides due to the weight of the battery, Tesla's AI prevents oversteer and there is even a winter mode to help prevent spin out on ice.
Issues that do need to be addressed are:
- Door handles getting stuck in the closed position from condensation freezing.
- Frozen windows not dropping when trying to open the door
- 30% Battery degradation in climates below -30°C (This issue is in the works. New battery type called the 4680 Cell will no longer have battery degradation in colder climates.)
All other issues like the charger port door freezing shut have been fixed.
Depends on people view...
To my model 3 I just gave a look from outside , got sitting in the driver sit and that’s it.
Didn’t look for nothing, just was enjoy one of my best days; getting my dream car 😊
Ahhh, the guy told me i had a small scratch in the bumper and I didn’t even notice until he told me 🤷🏽♂️😅
Still poor, 50k$ car and a 500$ paintjob....a Dacia that isn't even 10k$ new got better paint and fit lol.
Moat people would say this is unbelievable there is this much damage but trust me every dealer and manufacturer have these issues. Being in a wreck and being sold as new isn't a surprise or the first 1 I have ever seen.
You have immense patience and heart of a giant to just brush off the state of such an expensive car from the dealer!
I purchased a brand new 2011 civic Si years ago. Upon pre purchase inspection I noticed for the most part it looked great. It was a dealer trade from Florida up to Georgia. I got it home and in the garage I noticed the hood was a shade off in color. It had been re painted. And later I was shaving the quarters to fit wider wheels in the rear and noticed clear coat drips on the rear bumper. That means it was a base/clear so the rear bumper had been re painted. I had no clue. The dealer took care of the hood though. Never know what happens to a new car.
It would be interesting to compare damages, fit and finish with a Bolt or Leaf?
I like keeping car nice with maintenance and cleaning. I do not want to wrap or extra steps as why keep it nice for the next owner. When you trade in a car, they rarely even look at it.
“Not gonna be perfect” ??? New should be new. That looked like more then 13 miles of correction and while you can do it, you shouldn’t have to. Glad they took care of the dent but unless they said “no trade backs” that would be getting switched. Great video!
it just seems like another dude rationionalizing his Tesla or Defender purchase..it's sad to see such a low expectation level for people that purchase these vehicles..completely unacceptable for any new purchase..he wouldn't accept this from a toaster he got from Amazon..but 60 - 80K car?.."it's fine"
congrats on the new car, be sure to take good care on ur new baby
Great video. I had the same issues with my 2022 Camaro 2SS
Tesla has major quality control issues and have found many to be unacceptable at their price points for vehicles.
Great video. That elon clip in intro lol!
Tesla's are always an adventure when they come in. I've seen things I can't unsee lol. The owners often are just like "yea we tesla owners just put up with it" makes you scratch your head lol.
I think it would be cool to get a dealership from one of the Big Car manufacturers and bring a "just delivered" car in to your detail shop and show how other big car manufacturers do compared to Tesla. :)
How a car company like Tesla and their dealerships can let a car be delivered in this condition is f’d up! Hope the mechanical side is better. Makes me wonder about those space x rockets 🙈
Well, that is what you get buying a car from what is basically a *start-up* that grew way too fast and is rushing A LOT of things. Musk's statement in the recent interview with Munro said it all: "Production is hell". No s**t. Tesla will take forever until it's on par with German premium brands in terms of fit and finish.
Any chance you could have asked the dealer not to prep the car so any issues were strictly related to items from the factory or transport and not the dealer as well?
That would be interesting to see what a tunnel car wash will do. You consider ceramic coating only half the car and leave the other half uncoated to see how much the coating will help against the tunnel wash.
What's your suggestion to avoid the tunnel wash in cold weather. I live in Rochester, NY. It's been below freezing for the past 2 weeks. Suggestions?
I bought a brand new car last year in the middle of the pandemic. They delivered it to my house at night. The next day I went over it closely and found 5 small dings in the roof. I immediately called them and they told me to bring it in. I brought it in and the General Manager told me that I did it to the car, not them!
What was the outcome? Did they ever fix the dents?
Tips for inspecting paint on a white tesla? I find it hard to read that paint. model 3 as well.
Thanks for sharing. Interesting you bought Tesla after working on so many. I guess that says something.
Don't worry, system update will fix that 😂
😂
@James Olelo I hope your being sarcastic...
@James Olelo I'm not a libtard, that's your job.
May I ask how thick is the other color paint when compared to black one !?
Thanks so much
My close buddy works in Fremont I'm going to pass this video on to him.
what the hell dude?! If this is a new car they did an awful inspection! Dang!
Every new car under $500,000 looks like this
ITS ALL WITHIN SPEC!!
Glad i am not the only one hehe can you make a update video after you are done correcting the car?
In the past I have negotiated into a new car deal a sum of cash to be removed for every "new" car defact found, they don't like it, but I'm not buying a used or second hand car !
It needs some TINT!!
Videos like this make me think they paid a little more attention to Matt’s car.
How can a company sell a brand new car looking like this? So no quality control Tesla???? I mean a simple inspection would've revealed these mistakes before it left the factory.. I like Tesla.. I really would like to purchase one but I work too hard for my money to give it to a company that doesn't care about the product they're selling
.....I just took my car to a tunnel car wash LOL
Great video. Make a big money
Fun, fun, fun! You now have two pet project cars 😂🤣😍😎
Can you do a video of you ceramic coating the wrap?
Lol, they need to make you a new one
Would I be able to email you a picture of my Tesla? Someone hit me couple months ago, and my service appointment is coming up soon. With this damage, I don’t know if I can wash my car, I’m afraid internal damage would be caused to the car. If you would be able to help me out that would be great.
Jason@chicagoautopros.com
Clicked off Matt’s video. Then to yours. Lol
Are older cars better than this?
The older ones are worse.
@@ChicagoAutoPros oof if its a BMW then its mostly good
The quality control on Tesla especially the exterior build quality is atrocious.
great videos but camera man needs to learn how to focus
if af doesn’t work on a shiny reflective dark surfaces, he can try manual focusing with focus peaking on, or if using af try a larger f/stop and higher iso to compensate
Can’t wait to see the damage from the tunnel wash. I’m expecting something horrible.
First let us know how much this would cost for this level of detail, outside only
$3000 usd its on their website
Moral of the story if your not wrapping it...don't buy black. 😀
but black cars are way too sexy....
They could have that thing back looking like that.
wow the amount of details you can notice after washing is incredible.
More proof cars don’t always come from the factory & dealership near perfect. That’s our job to improve that! 😊
Exactly
...because you can't pay enough these days to obtain a quality product. This is BEYOND a few "normal" imperfections. Maybe the new battery purchase of 3K+ includes a repaint as well.
@@jblough76 Tesla is a joke. Fraudulent company. Fraudulent ceo. If there’s any problems take it back in a week. Good luck talking to a human in the service center. I had a model s and go rid of it because they treated me so bad. Worst car company ever.
@James Olelo rude smh
I've bought alot of new cars, never seen a car with this much wear and tear with 13 miles... Horrible and making excuses for Tesla is absurd. I used to take new cars off the truck and never seen anything like this..
I think you're being a little too cool about this. There is a level of imperfection that is accepted, but deep scratches and dents aren't acceptable for a brand new car.
Bro its not like you're buying a $2000 mac, which they actually have no imperfections on. Its a $60000+ car... Advocating this is 'normal' is how consumers get shafted.
its $40,000+ this car has far more parts then a mac and takes far more steps to make, $2000 macs still get flaws otherwise apple wouldn't have a repair store.
@@miguellopez3392 the performance starts at 55k... excuses like that are why companies can release subpar products and think everyones a sucker. My 30k econobox mazda came in way better shape than this.
@@dartu5854 car start at $40,000 and up with options, you said 60k+
people are willing to forgive this because the customer ends up satisfied with the driving experience, tesla has the highest customer satisfaction for an automaker because the 40k ca with panel gaps is more appealing to drive then a 30k econbox mazda
This video shocked me way more than I thought it would
Brand new car? Id be heart broken, how they can let a car leave the showroom like that defies all logic, ZERO Pride, QA is nothing more than a very bad joke. Only a very small % of tesla owners will know what a detailing is & how to remove those defects.. No Id drive it through the showroom window..
It's pretty easy to understand when you read the comments and everyone making excuses and saying all cars come like this. It's a joke. It's the buyers that have no pride.
@Robert McDaniel facts 😂
i worked at a kia dealer and we only ever hand wash cars. And i have never seen a brand new car this bad
Tesla does not focus on fit and finish as much as they do quality of driver/user interfaces. I think if you are paying 40+ thousand dollars you should get a car that is perfect, but some dont mind. MKBHD is an example of this, he reviewed the model Y when it was released and even the test vehicle Tesla sent him had panel caps. He owns a Model S and mentioned these issues on it, yet he said it is not as important to him as the way the car drives, handles, etc.
Wow! The amount of money you pay for a Tesla & then have to spend a heap to getting it to look like it should when you get it from the factory!!
If I bought a new car, I wouldn't even have noticed more than half of those marks/scuffs/scratches.
pretty typical for Tesla to be honest.. poor quality and build and fitment..kinda disappointing a company gets away delivering cars like this.
they get away because the cars make up for it in driving experience.
@@miguellopez3392 yeah there's some intriguing cars like the Audi RS3 or BMW M series in that price category that offer some compelling driving experience's with build quality and paint quality to go with them :)
@@One_Guy driving experience also includes software and services tesla offers with their cars, sales numbers and surveys show the strength of the product.
@@miguellopez3392 yup they are by far leaps and bounds ahead of the competition on technology without a doubt.
That's a $1K paint job. You are a much more patient man than I... I would lose the entirety of my shit if I were in your position.
This is gonna be great comparing it with Matt's white new Tesla from Obsessed Garage. Seems like this one came a lot worst than Matt's did.
Matt’s was a performance model and white.
Good on you to mention, it's not just Tesla. Just wait until someone brings you one of the new AM DBX's 😭 Awesome video! Not looking forward to seeing the aftermath of your little experiment at the tunnel wash though...
That's new. I haven't heard that before.
My 2016 Model S was in less than new car perfect but hate to see yours. I would take it back but it is fun to drive. I sold mine in less than2 years but I worked hard to get it right. That was 5 years ago and as bad as mine was, it was better than this.
It’s ridiculous you pay so much money for a new car that looks as used, and on top of that you need to pay more to get it in new condition.
Tbh those scratches on the front bumper would have done it for me, i'd taken it back to the dealership and said "here you go" and never looked back. It's not just the factory that makes issues with the panel gaps etc - But the truck drivers/delivery people etc etc need to get better, because most of the damage would probably be from transit. Anyways glad for you, looking forward to seeing all videos on it!
Dealership where I used to work would have a crew come and just pressure wash the entire lot, then dry. Every car was marred to hell.
I worked at a dealership detailing cars for pre-delivery. The condition that cars arrive in off boats is shocking sometimes.
Learnt a lot from this! didnt know swirls are actually loads of straight lines, but now i think about it that makes sense
Nice EV Jason! However. Given how many times I have seen poor finishes on these expensive Tesla's, I can confidently say I'd never spend my money on one. You're talking £60k or possibly more for a car like that. Very helpful video. Great for you as a Detailer, bad for Tesla
Same experience on my Model 3, delivered on 12/31 in Fremont. Service center could only fix the compound residue and not much else.
U sure this is a new car?
Ikr 😂
This was a 2020 they couldn't sell and with a software update it became a 2021..
does tesla plan on compensating you for all these blemishes ? dayuang i WOULD NEVER EVER buy one of these cars they should be ASHAMED of their service team wow how SAD :(
my model Y was in much worse shape then this and Tesla hasn’t done a damn thing to make it better. I’ll be swapping it for an R1S Rivian
I think it's important for people to know that this isn't specifically a Tesla issue, basically no "new" cars come perfect when delivered. our 2020 WRX and 2021 Rav4 both were delivered off the truck with plastic still on it from the factory and it had lots of scratches, dirt in the clear coat, etc. Most people don't realize it because they don't examine it this closely when they get a new car.
Most of my new cars have had small things like this, though maybe not quite as many. My Giulia was the only car I've ever purchased where the paint was actually flawless on delivery. Made the first rock chip that much worse.
I actually used to rave to everyone how perfect and flawless the paint on my 2017 Alfa Romeo Guilia QF was too. Had virtually no orange peel and generally just super deep and rich. Unfortunately it was an early car and had a lot of other issues but actual build quality was phenomenal 👍🏻
I recently purchased a brand new Hyundai Tucson. I couldn’t help myself but inspect just the same as you! I found far less flaws sorry to say 😬
Tesla have a history of bad QA for their cars, so don't feel so bad.
If they cut corners on the outside (especially those panel gaps) I wonder what corners they cut on the inside
If this was from a Chinese company, can't imagine the bashing they would have gotten! And this is the most valuable car company in the world 😲 Unbelievable!!!
So the dealer supplied a Tesler to you, did he know your occupation, your UA-cam reputation and your knowledge. I would have made sure I supplied a perfect, detailed car to you so that all you could say was, Wow this is perfect. I wouldn’t buy a Tesler based on your video, I would expect much better for my money and I don’t have a detailing business or UA-cam channel. 🤦🏻♂️ All the best from the UK 🇬🇧
I have to say the condition of your tesla is very disturbing and worse seems to have become common place. I have worked in the car industry for 39 years as a technician and also do detailing as a hobby. I have seen all kinds of things condition wise on new cars. 1980's Chryslers had better body fitment and paint than that, and trust me that's scary because early 80s for Chrysler were dark dark days. The condition of your tesla is and should be considered unacceptable. The price of new vehicles demands better quality control. We have become programmed by companies to be a disposable generation. People think that if you get a year out of a product that's great.. Used to be if a refrigerator didn't last 25 years people went back with a gun. My 3k Samsung Hub fridge cant even make ice constantly (class action lawsuit). I have been to Chicago Auto Pros and have seen the quality of work your shop puts out. There is no way you would allow that level of quality or lack there of out the door.
That level of paint quality is unacceptable on any new vehicle. It's laughably bad as is the fit with 70's landyachts. No excuse on "high tech" Tesla, Musk needs someone to get that shit sorted. Gimme 3 months and I'd have it fixed lol.
I love how Tesla owners will accept so much imperfection on their brand new car. We purchased a "new" car which had sat on the lot for almost 2 years. It had only one or two scratches, and minor paint dullness. It all buffed out perfectly, and had no body or fitment issues.
I love how non-Tesla owners will accept such slow cars. People thinking a "new" muscle car that can go 0-60 under 6 seconds is fast. :-p
It really just matters what's important to you. Trading away a little bit of shine for a lot of extra speed is worth it for many. Especially since it's cheaper to fix paint than add horsepower.
@@mellored I don't get what you are trying to say. You have alot of alternative EVs. Just because you are non Tesla driver doesn't mean you drive a ICE car
@@yosefm170 name an ev that’s not a Tesla that drives like a Tesla. I’ll wait
@@coreyalexander4766Iike all good electric cars... Lol
Wow Tesla paint absolutely subpar
lol you sure that's a new car? Damn, haven't seen anything that bad before.
Ikr looks used lol
Never owned a new vehicle with this many defects, and I've owned quite a few. Yeah, Musk can keep his Teslas.
I would never accept to get a new car in that bad condition. Terrible to see such expensive car gets delivered like that. Return it and get your money back and buy a good quality car instead.
Telsa QC is awful. How do they let stuff leave the dealership like this?
What dealership?
And if you're interested in knowing why, I can explain in full.
@@ProJC i pretty much know but elaborate anyway
dude.... for the money you pay for that car it should be perfect... that is Bs..,.. id be pist!!!!
Enjoyed the video. One possible take away it the massive advantage of not having any paint, from the perspective of lowering the complexity, cost and time of manufacturing, all the way through the customer experience of having to maintain, and worry/devote mind space/time/effort to it. One huge advantage of the CYBRTRK.
i guess if ppl keep buying these 3rd rate build quality cars tesla has no reason to improve
I let the service Center have a go rectifying the paint issues. They polished is so much they burned right through the paint and I ended up returning it.
Their QC is really spotty. They've had decades of automotive history to examine and learn from. Why do we still have dents and body panel gaps from the factory? They're innovative, i'll give them that.
Every car company needs to be at their A game. KIA/Hyundai are coming for them.
What? You paid alot for car issues? Not acceptable. Will never buy one of those cars.
This is brutal. The amount people pay for some cars and these issues are still present baffle me. A lot of people wouldnt even notice some of this stuff, which isnt fair to the consumer. Do some R&D, fix the issues at the factory so you dont need people fixing stuff after the fact. Pipe dream, yes, but I feel for people that spend hard earned money to have paint/body issues like this. Cant wait for the next episode!
Poor panel gaps? It's not a Lexus... Most Corvettes still have some orange peel.
Reason I would not buy a Tesla, they really need to up their game...😕
I get that things can happen. I don't even mind the adhesive residue from the paint protection they put on it for transport. But Tesla quality is a whole nother level of bad. Especially for the price you pay.
@Robert McDaniel Well according to all the true "patriots" in this country American made is the only way, right? ;)
@Robert McDaniel Machine assembly is how you get tight tolerances and consistent quality. Hand assembly leads to massive variances in quality.
Tesla performance is on a whole nother level of good. Especially for the price you pay.
The trade-off of a few scratches is worth it, especially if your going to do a wrap anyways.
I know it's your money and your choice but you have to put things into perspective. For a car manufacturer that young and able to produce cars that much that fast, you gotta be impressed by what you're owning.
@@MossPalone they've been at this for over 10 years and only have 4 cars in production. I'm not expecting perfection, but better than where they are at.
Tesla should be embarrassed to give a car to a customer like that...terrible...for the price it should be alot better than that..
Maybe Tesla should advertise 'Brand new car, with used car quality status', LOL, what piece of crap
It's called certified pre owned... They were only owned, not used... 🤪
