- Marceline the Vampire Queen has been rocking on this Earth for over a thousand years, so naturally, she has one of the most emotional family histories of the entire series. In this video we'll be diving into Elise, Hunson Abadeer, Simon Petrikov, her Vampire enemies, Schwabl, Ash, and a little bit of Betty Groff.

I’m so sad the show didn’t talk much about her parents relationship and how they met since her mom obviously met her dad before the mushroom war or around it so how a human knew about the king of demons? And why didn’t the mom go to stay with Marcy’s dad cuz that will be safer for her and her daughter since the dad IS SO POWERFUL

Most likely Hunson invited her into the Nightosphere but Elise knew she wouldn't survive in there with all the demons and inhospitable environments. Or Hunson wanted to take Marcy all for himself and Elise refused and raised Marceline on Earth.

Genuinely Simon’s story makes me cry so much because he reminds me of my grandma and watching her succumb to Alzheimer’s. The feeling of begging someone to remember a past life just to be met with nothing hits a little too close to home.
I feel like Simon went through dementia.

actually, I think Marceline dated PB before Ash, as Finn was there when Marceline broke up with him and Marceline and Bonnibel broke up before the events of the show and then rekindle their relationship officially becoming a couple in the final episode and being a couple in the Obsidian, it could be that Marceline had a few boyfriends and girlfriends before dating Princess Bubblegum again but one reason or another it never worked out it could because of Marceline's trust issues or she had unlucky taste in significant others or she still had feelings for PB making it hard to connect with others in a romantic way
Yeah I think she dated/broke up with PB before Ash too. Not only bc PB knew abt Hambo but bc Marceline would naturally go for someone like ash who seems to have no responsibilities after PB. I dunno if Marceline has any other relationships though bc when Simon asked if she had a boyfriend she said “there was this one guy once” so maybe after those 2 nasty breakups she didn’t look to date anyone else
Finn wasn't there when she broke up with Ash, he only witness their break up through her memories when Ash tricked him into destroying the memory of him giving Marceline's doll to Maja

It's kinda weird how such a fundamentally bizarre and zany dynamic between multiple supernatural beings is one of the most emotionally authentic depictions of watching a family member lose themselves to dementia in modern television. A *lot* of us have a Simon in our lives, even if none of us have a thousand year old adoptive Wizard Dad in any of ours.

Marceline is cool. She had a long life, and will have even more.
She lost many on her way yet gained much later too.
She is an awesome character and I am glad to have a character who I will have joy of kissing after distant lands(or who knows? Maybe we'll see her one day again)

I decided to do some extra research!!! I dont know a ton about Tarot either, but it was super super interesting to read about all the cards meanings and how they fit into AT 🥰
I think Marcy dated Ash after Bonnie. PB seems to know who Hambo is and she even describes him as Marcy's "old teddy bear", implying that she knew him from a long time ago. Also, it just makes more sense, there's no indication that Ash is ageless, in fact most of the wizards in AT age.
Simon is her dad, idc what Hunson does.
Also, they went to the trouble of naming the vampires after the Tarot cards but they didn’t have a full set?

I mean, it was a mini-series. It's kinda hard to properly do justice to a full 22 major antagonists in a few episodes.

I live for this kind of content, I stopped watching adventure time when I left for college (no TV), so it's nice to have vids that put everything I missed into context!
Dude!!! The same thing happened to me for awhile - I lost track in college but thankfully picked it back up again a year or two after graduation. I remember being like “wait what’s all this stuff I missed???” 😂😂 so that’s actually 100% why we make these videos, I feel like I’ve found so many cool things in my rewatches!!!!

Just curious...is there proof that Marcy dated Ash BEFORE she dated PB? I always thought it was the other way around and she dated Princess Bubblegum before dating Ash. The only basis I have of this is that we know PB and Marcy dated a long time before the adventure time series started (since it was around the time PB was still building the candy Kingdom), and I guess I always assumed her and Ash's relationship was more recent. Is there proof it was the other way around, or is it more left up for interpretation?
Yeah I think it was recent because her dating pb would explain why she went for someone so completely opposite in the next relationship (I low key like to think that she only dated ash to spite pb but that’s just my interpretation). Also the candy kingdom was still being built when her and pb got together for the first time. And in her ep with ash the kingdom is ALREADY built.

This's two years late but whatever:
Elsie was already dead before Marcy got to the bunker. Her voicemail had already been sent before Marcy arrived, since we can see it blinking in the panout shot. And we know it signals her death because a thousand years later Marcy listens to it, hearing her mum's last goodbyes. Therefore, it's heavily implied that Elsie died immediately after Marcy left. Which means that, for whatever reason, if Marcy had gone back for her mum, forgotten something or wanted a goodbye kiss, she would've found her freshly dead body. This also means that her voicemail, which's contains her last moments and subsequent death, most likely contains minutes, if not hours of her post mortem.
Simon’s story is so sad but im glad he gets to spend it with people he cares about
Damn marceline really went through a lot of stuff, her mother dying, her thinking her mother was scared of her and going to leave her and hearing her mother say "i don't have time for you right now" then hearing the same words from bonnie too...then saving people and people being scared to her just like her dad, her dad not being a good father and simon leaving and not remembering her damn that's awful

I still hold the episode of Marceline and The Ice King's relationship as one of the biggest wtf moments in the show. It came from left field, but was such a cool reveal because it shifted our whole view on Simon/The ice King
man i think i want to rewatch adventure time, i stop like halfway when they show it at my tv and once i started go to univeristy which is around early 2019, i stop watch, and when they announce the final episode i watch half of it and somehow cry that my childhood kinda complete

Ever since together again, I cant stop wondering about the bigger picture. Like if life is a constant cycle of death and rebirth, then each individual life is less significant than the end result on the soul. Does this mean marceline has no past lives and by being immortal limit the growth of her soul? And for that matter, are the dead worlds like, planet sized dimensions? Are there more dimensions for life based creatures or death based ones?
This show is great that it can provoke such thoughts.
