8 Wonders of Gili Balu x The Global Experience - National University of Singapore

  • From the 3-7th of June 2024, JARI Foundation, in collaboration with Pelita and WMC (Women for Marine Conservation) hosted a marine education trip for National University of Singapore (NUS). A total of 14 students and 3 lecturers from NUS spend 4 day exploring the Gili Ball Marine Tourism Park. They had to opportunity to camp on both Gili Namo and Gili Kenawa as well as experience a night in a local homestay in Poto Tano. Whilst in Gili Balu, they gained hands on learning experience about locally led small island tourism, the octopus fishing industry and the sustainable management of small-scale fisheries and Bajo culture. Students enjoyed snorkelling and octopus fishing with the local community and had the chance to taste the local produce.
