Brad should compose a piece called 'Lelands Theme' for every time he gets caught on camera.
There should be pauses in 'Lelands Theme' for Brad to let loose that laugh.
OOOh I like that. A theme to open each show.
That’s a wonderfully hilarious idea, his own theme music… 🎶🎶 🎼
Well, he kind of has a tag line already; but it's such good advice that you'd hate to see it put it into a sitcom format ("make good choices"). Yogi's bio video kind of resonated of that as well.
Brilliant idea! 😊
A traveling musician’s constantly changing point of location is like Ishmail gaining his sea legs on the Pequod in Moby Dick.
Brad: “Make good choices today”, his words like his music a direct connection to anyone minding the store.
I am still amazed at how the sound is constructed for each venue with each its own signature to adjust. Thank you for taking us along. ☮
Such an amazing life and so grateful for @lelansklar6363 ‘s generosity in sharing it with us like this.
We were there many years ago to see Dan Fogelberg...beautiful venue! Thanks for the tour! (Hi, Brad!) ♥
Wow! That's beautiful!
I was at the show at The Mountain Winery! It was great! Thanks for showing us around backstage! It was cool to see that!
Brad’s dedication to his craft is inspirational!
I could listen to the Professor of saxophone all day Lee. What a guy and what a venue to play. Such a wonderful setting to let the good times roll.
Master, the first time I came to your channel I was looking for how to play "Invisible Touch" on bass. Now here I am, being inspired by you when you show the places where you are gonna play. The detail of the tree growing between the seats was very moving for me. It made me feel that you thought that this detail would make us feel that we were there with you. Thank you very much. I will never forget this.
The same, but "On the Air"❤
Yet another beautiful location for an outdoor concert!
“Do you know the way to San Jose” 🎶
Have a great night
This venue seems like it was built around the stage! Very cool...
I am getting more and more "Citytour Videos" in my recommended list as I keep watching all your videos. A great one as always! Have fun and good luck
Many memories of concerts at this venue. Saw Lyle there in the early 90’s with REK opening for him. He was married to Julia at the time and she brought a huge bouquet of roses out to him between songs.
It’s a beautiful venue. I was there Sept 10 2001 I’ll never for get that.
I’ve see you guys here two years in a row. Bless you all - such touching, moving music. thank you.
Such gorgeous vistas...My favorite to-date! Thanks as always!
Brad is a very dedicated musician, always looking for perfection.
I said this once before, but "his sound" reminds me a lot of the Great Stan Getz. There is this "blowing, air sound" between the notes, that I can't explain, but maybe you know what I mean. I love it.
Thanks Lee for this daily adventures, you are so generous.
Have a good gig tonight.
Greetings from Mexico City.
It is called "Subtone" it a feature much more common with Tenor Sax Players. Alto Sax it is much more unique.
Amazing venue. I would not have seen the vineyards if you had not produced this video. Thanks a lot!
@@erickorte2552
Thank you very much for the info. I like that sound, looks like if the notes were actually traveling so smooth upon an airy highway. .
Anouther amazing place to play…beautiful views! Love those open air gigs…and those buildings must go back to early Spanish conquistadors….. we’ll mabye not that far back….
But certainly must have a really cool history…..wondering if there are old photographs of the winery and the early settlers….ohhhh cool place to put on my list of places to visit…..that whole area…has such a special vibe. Many blessings to y’all and Napa coming up as well!!!

This is my home venue - it's a beautiful place to watch a show
The last time I was there was the late 80s with friends when I lived in SFBA (San Jose); I saw the Oscar Peterson trio; WOW! Another time Stephan Grappelli! Wow!
Wow what a place!!!!! Paul Masson Winery. Look at that Scenery. Those old spanish mission like historical buildings
what a place ! thank you very much !🌼🌻🌺🌷🌱🪴🌲🌲🌲🌳🌳🌳🌴🌴🌴🌵
Right in my backyard. Seen many, many great shows here. Enjoy!
My guess is this Mr Sklar , that the folks who live and work in Saratoga ,California ,have to be some of the happiest and contented in the US ! There's continual sunshine , less pollution, amazing nature and scenery ,superb places to visit ... Oh ,and all of those fine ,wines ! That's the common thread to your amazing videos so far for me Mr Sklar, they make my imagination work overtime . Once again, thankyou for the experience .
The sky is such a brilliant blue there. I love that vine…
That looks like a special place, Leland. Thanks for sharing it with us. All the best to you and The Large Band.
"Sir, this is a winery, not a bar." "Just gimme a full goddamn pour!" What beautiful venue!

That place looks impressive on google earth. Nestled nicely in the mountains and such an impressive concert venue space!!
Gorgeous place with a good history (thanks to Mark). Great to hear that Francine will be in the mix. Hope someone records a vid. Thanks❤️👍❤️👍
You flatter me, Tom.
Absolutely magical, Lee - have a terrific show!
Hey! Welcome to the Bay Area! Mountain Winery is a great venue. Wish I were seeing you play tonight! Have fun.
Gorgeous venue. What a backdrop. Continued safe travels, Lee.
Now that is a finish......a nice reese PB Cup!!!! THANKS LEE.....That place is so NICE!!!!!
Cool, I feel like I'm walking with you....... even before people see this on you tube.....
Leland, I really enjoy your videos. I don't go a day without listening to music; which always includes Beatles music. I sat on the living room floor of our third floor flat as a high school freshman and watched their first American television performance. I'll be turning 74 on the 14th and although I'd rather not be this old, I don't think I would give up that Beatles/Sullivan experience for anything. Leland, if you're ever planning on being in the SF Bay Area, contact me and the meal is on me. Stay safe and healthy. Steve K. P.S. The story about sitting next to the twin brother of the guy whose funeral you were at, almost made me shit [ my ] pants.
Hugely appreciate being to see all these venues, especially the parts that we the public never get to see. Ringo's birthday was a special treat! Hoping to see you when you play at the Rose Center in Huber Heights, OH later this summer. One question for you: as a fellow beardy, what products do you use to keep your beard looking it's best?
Morning tour time👍👍
Hi Leland, I grew up less than 10 miles from there. Bummer I missed the show, won’t be back in the area til Wed 12th. Hope your enjoying the area. Great restaurants in Cupertino, Saratoga & Los Gatos.
Hi Brad 😃♥️Leland this is an amazing venue.thankyou.🌻 😍♥️
Very cool place
Thank you. ❤
MMMMmmmmm... A Reese's and a cup of coffee at 4 in the afternoon. That's great. Have a wonderful show.
Such a nice venue, I worked there for many years. The first time I spoke with Lee happened to be at the rear of the dining area, overlooking the Santa Clara Valley around dusk as the lights were coming on down below. I was a bit star struck, but he was just so relaxed, it was an easy conversation. He was working with Lyle at that show as well. I saw many a great show there, though they've changed the house a lot since my days there (2003/4 ish).
My bro John worked there for years, did little bit everything: security, sold merch, poured wine, maintenance, you name it. He loved that special place and the artists who performed there. Damn COVID ended the run...he passed in March... Thanks for the tour of the venue that was a big part of his life.....miss you Bro!
Such a great venue The Mountain Winery Saratoga, California tucked away in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains and the Diablo Range to the East. Thank you!
👍

Everything seems to go at a leisurely pace when you are out playing. You probably don't have a lot of stuff to put up. As a Swede, I am completely amazed by how beautiful these places are. Playing outdoor stages is always special. Exposed to the elements at worst.. but you seem to be lucky with the weather so far.
I love that quote from Billy Joel in the beginning of the video,Leland! Awesome!!

The place is beautiful I have been very fortunate to have seen many many shows there over the years as I have always lived near by
Nice day for it. Have a good gig.
Hi Lee, hey Brad! 👋 Saxy, i like that one! 🎷😎 Cool looking venue. Have a great show, guys! 🎸🎶🥁🎷😎
Lee i was thinking the same since you and your boys have done some Vin-ets from home, made me think of your place. cheers
Beautiful Scenery. California is the BEST state.
Paul Masson Winery was a favorite place to party as kids. Grew up down at the bottom of Hiway 9. Deserted, no cars; houses sold for $30K.
Saw Herb Ellis, Charlie Byrd, Barney Kessel--The Great Guitars ~81. Wasn't set up like that(!)
Rat-raced through up to Skyline; no cops, no traffic. Many adventures on that mountain.
We were so blessed; amazing times never to be revisited....
We did the same. We used to 4wheel down on Pierce road!
What time period was this going on?
@@randyschiffer3265 For me, my buds & G.F.'s '69-'72. Winery is 10min. from house
I wonder if touring bands unfamiliar with these venues use these wonderful backstage tours as a preview for their gig? You're providing useful information Lee.
When the video opened I thought for sure we were in Italy some where.
I have been living in the S.F. and Oakland Bay Area since late '64 and both locations have a strong Italian presence beginning from the 1850 to 1900 immigration era.
I think the climate of parts of Italy and the Bay Area may be similar.
@@artemisXsidecross I lived in Concord from 1967 to 1970.
@@artemisXsidecross Xsidecross, since you live in S.F. area you would be a good one to ask. "Is it really as bad as the news portrays?"
@@randyschiffer3265
If you are referring to the homeless, yes, but it as bad in Oakland and many other areas too. There was a report that most of the homeless are age 50 and over and have never been homeless before.
If you study income distribution for the last 60 years and see the rise of housing cost compared to the drop in income, it is literally extraordinary.
Almost 50% of income in the USA is under $50,000 per year and both housing and medical costs have skyrocketed.
Beautiful venue!
Hi Lee. This is quite a nice place!! And look… Brads back 😀! Thanks for sharing!!
In the fall of 1878, Paul Masson, an ambitious young Frenchman, arrived in San Francisco. Born in Burgundy to a family of well-established winemakers, Masson grew up surrounded by some of the finest wineries and vineyards in the world. Good fortune, or perhaps destiny, led him to the winery of Charles Lefranc, located a days journey south in the Santa Clara Valley. Lefranc, a French expatriate, was a highly respected vintner but it would be his collaboration with Masson that helped to put California wine on the world map.
Using a transplanting technique known as grafting, Masson and Lefranc experimented with the "Mission" vines planted by the Franciscan Padres years before and the vines from Lefranc's vineyard, grown from clippings retrieved from France. The outcome of their endeavor was a selection of fine wines that turned the two men into local celebrities. Soon they were spending their evenings socializing with some of the most famous and wealthy people in San Francisco. These elegant parties provided Masson with a new business idea. He predicted that a city as sophisticated as San Francisco would be a receptive market for a fine; locally grown champagne…he would be proven right!
In 1958, a concert bowl was constructed and the now famous Concert Summer Series began. World-class music and breathtaking scenery have consistently proven to be a crowd pleasing combination. Today, the Spanish portal provides a dramatic backdrop to the stage where performers such as Diana Ross, Ringo, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson and Ray Charles have performed. The famous Summer Concert Series continues to entertain local crowds and the property remains a popular choice for weddings, corporate meetings and company retreats.
Wow! Thanks so much for the history lesson. Very interesting.

Thank you, I enjoy information like some enjoy eating peanut butter cups. Your time is well used.
@@artemisXsidecross I got home just in time to be of use.
The Mountain Winery was formally known as the Paul Masson Mountain Winery. They held each year a high stakes Chess Tournament there, which is why I suspected this location to be the Paul Masson Winery. What a venue!!
I saw where Shawn Colvin will be opening for Lyle soon. Should be great!!! Interview her! Thx Lee! Hi Brad!
The Mountain Winery is our favorite venue. The sound system is fantastic. We would go every year to see Lyle. The parking experience is a showcase other venues shoukd try to emulate. With a couple thousand cars you can be down nto tye highway in ten minutes…unbelievable.
But we are in Western Colorado now. And to our delight, Lyle has come thru here two years in a row!
Love Viktor Krauss but Leland’s bass comes thru with more definition.
Francine? Dang! We miss here so much. Enjoy your retirement Dear Lady!❤❤
So beautiful sounding, and then yummy! 😄
Wow what a cool venue to play at.

What a great venue!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE that place... the original Paul Masson barn. My second fav behind Wolf Trap. ENJOY!!!
Beautiful place.
Francine Reed......"Peel Me A Grape" Francine, please!
Great video, Leland! That Bruce guy sure has an attitude. Sort of passive aggressively showing you his phone, that you had 1 minute. Very rude when he said "you can go across the street" Well, I guess there's got to be a sourpuss in every group.
What a great place! 🥰, here in the Netherlands al is flet, no Mountains
Hey Buckkkkkkk!!!!!! Gentle Soul Buck!!!
The Ihearasax was a mythical creature from the times of the ancients. Sort of like a siren of the seas but land based. Beautiful dulcet tones emitting from it's complex horn.
I thought the Iherasax was a small horn used for herding Yak in Outer Mongolia.
@@erickorte2552 yes. By tradition those past down through the centuries as obtained from the earliest traders who replicated the horns from ancient drawings. Scale was a problem so not exact. The Sortaihearasax is known locally as khüükhed saks. The herding song was recorded by a western music producer who incorrectly translated the name and thus begat the earworm song: Baby Shark.
As legend goes.
The Mountain Winery was named as one of the Coolest Concert Venues in the Us by Buzzfeed, the nature of this intminate amphitheater can seat 2,500.
Thank you Philip, I look for what you write 👍
@@artemisXsidecross My pleasure.
Lee plays "Stonehenge"..... where have I seen that before? His bass goes to 11-teen.

Musicians on the road....practicing in any old stairwell, backroom or equipment storage location. Gotta keep those chops up.
Great acoustics from Brad's sexy sax!

Classy!
👍👍. Intrigued by the vine on the building but could not make it out. Based on what you said, it can't be English ivy. Do we know what it is?
Thinking maybe we should start co-opting your "gum on you shoe" idiom, only it would be sheepsheads on our shoes. More removable but more painful (none in your garden, I'm confident).
