My thoughts on screwdrivers when i started my electrical apprenticeship was buying a multi screwdriver with all the (6 inch) bits i needed in the handle. the bits also fit into my screwgun/impact driver so one screwdriver held all the bits and served as the storage for my impact bits saving space in my toolbelt. the most recent klein multi i purchased is wild. its basically a 12-in-1 with phillips, flat, robbie, 1/4, 5/16, etc.

29 years in the trade 100% agree skills trump toys.
There is a balance to be found between the guy who packs in 150lb of tools for literally any project and the guy who thinks he can wire an entire building with a 11 in one and linesman pliers and still be effective.
As time goes on you learn when to pack the extra weight and when to shed it. It's all about finding the balance and what's most effective.

It comes with experience, knowing what to bring, if you don’t have a truck or van always fully loaded with tools. In carpentry, you usually end up needing every type of saw and hand tool every day, even if you don’t expect it.

I think that Lenox screwdriver in the video is the
    9-in-1.
When I worked as an ATM Technician I carried a Craftsman 5-in-1 (I think it’s a rebranded Klein) I bought from Sears. For my nut drivers I had a set of Xcelite 99 series.
Been thinking about picking up the Klein 32500 11-in-1 and the combination #1/2 bit to swap out the torx as needed.

I'm working maintenance for a surface mine now, and I get the whole "aren't you going to bring more tools than that?" question. I have a insulated multidriver (phillips/straight blade), a beater straight blade, 10 inch knipex, needle nose with a stripper hole and crimp, a precision multi driver (for small terminal blocks), and a" super-stubby with a 6-n-1 flip socket shaft, all riding in a homemade leather "rocket pocket" back pocket pouch.
I carry a few sockets and specialty pliers in a tote that stays with the truck, and carry a fluke clamp-on for testing circuits.
I can do about 90% of my duties with this.
Those "toys" have their place, but you need to figure out what works for you.

I can't help myself buying European and Japanese tools. The Dollar to Euro and Yen exchange rate is just so good!

Plumbers, electricians, HVACR all do use a plethora of tools, but since we have to be very mobile it only makes sense to have a tote tray or small tool bag to gather your tools at your service truck and take only what you need to do the particular repair.
It does beg for organization in your service vehicle to be more efficient.

When I was coming up as a helper electrician, I carried as little as possible and had the same thought. Knowledge and skills weigh nothing, tools get heavy. Only been with one shop so far and I do EVERYTHING. Residential, commercial, some industrial, service and construction. I have a HUGE pile of tools. I only use the basics, then clean out my truck. Leave "that tool" at home and at hour 7.5 on a Friday I need "that tool". I buy US made tools as much as I can. Keep those factories open and running for when we turn this ship around, which has started for sure.

Wild that you're fellow union coworkers would make funny of you for have more than the 'required' tools. When I started out, carried 105lbs of tools now around 50. Just because through the years I know what's really needed, and now have like most a lot of "spare tools". I normally just give them away, or set them next to a dumpster.

In 2025, Local 3, IBEW Union, there is a culture around having the tools which best suit the person using the tools for the task at-hand.
I think the only tools you're missing in your tool pouch for working electricians would be:
--2-3 Spade bits of most-used size
    --Sheetrock knife/saw (preferably foldable)
--6"-9" Level with pipe-bending levels integrateed (Klein makes the best one), its orage/gold)
--Needle-Nose pliers (can get strippers which are also functional as needle-nose pliers, Milwaulkee makes the best pair)
As expediency becomes more appreciated, this pair of strippers is particularly good for stipping hot wires where the insulation is heated by the current. This tool overcomes the issue of having encounteres a very heated wire. [Klein Tools 11061 Self-Adjusting Wire Stripper/Cutter]
