I have a dry sump fuel injected version. It makes way more than 620hp. I'm getting almost that much (615hp/tq) to the wheels of my '05 M6 GTO. Lingenfelter did the engine & tuning.
I agree, people who don't know how to build a motor will go buy a crate motor, I get a lot of negativity cuz l'm the only person who will build a 305 or 350 to the hilt!, most people tell me I'm waisting my time building a 305, I say no I'm not, cuz even tho it has a small bore, .194in smaller than a 4.00, you can still bore it up to .060 over and get almost 500hp from that 305 block, it's all about realizing the potential in what you have and exposing it, which is what most are too lazy to do
would you rather they laid off the masses of "Tax payers" they employee ? BTW GM paid back the money they borrowed from the Government so you can kindly kill that 2008 argument already. I bet you voted for Trump too.
They have a LSX 377 available now and it's about half the price..All forged internals but you will have to change reluctor wheel if trying to run on typical LS1 or 6 factory computer. They have it rated at 480 HP so that means it's over 500 as per typical GM underating their engines..Think LS1...2...or 6 on steriods with iron balls...
I m seriously thinking about swapping this into my Pontiac GTO 2005. I'm starting from scratch tho. I'm buying the lsx bowtie block then having it machined. It'll be a year round project but definitively going to happen. Would what I need in order to make the swap? ECM? I'm hoping I don't have to do much.
what good is the flow of the heads if you dont give it more coolant flow. my shop partner has one and it should be faster than high 9's on the track. the heads bring in more air than they exhaust he changed the cam 635/635 he ran low nines. i think he should change the pistons ang get a better carb.
DEAR GM PERFORMANCE PARTS-WILL YOU HELP? MY LSX 454 BLEW UP Recently I was influenced to purchase a Chevrolet LSX-454 engine for my 2010 camaro based on information in print and in person from Dr. Jamie Meyer, the Product Integration Manager for GM Performance Parts. THE BLOCK HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE.
@syfe45 the ls7 is a 7.0 L engine while the lsx 454 is 7.4 L. More displacement= more power. The lsx is just a bigger, tougher, and more powerful engine than the LS7. Hands down. And the LSX is an engine that can hold up to 2500 HP. The LSX is a pure racing engine that is meant to be upgraded and used for racing. Ohhh and the LSX had more bolts for the cylinder heads so you can put more boost in the engine without the heads coming off. lol
@drizzetsrevenge Im just reading this and saw your question.... but to get a Doctorate in automotive, well one way is to get a PHD in engineering. Im pretty sure thats what he has. sounds cool though dont it?
I believe the block can take over 1000hp. As it sits. I think that was the original point of the lsx, the trick ass engine block. Everything else is simply extra lol. :-)
way too much money for a mesely 620 hp.. you could build a 454 or LS1 (BOTH W/CARBS) for the same price and get more then that in horse power. either way it just looks cool. why pay all that when you still have to spend more time and money to get the horsepower it should already produce ???? i think old men with money and young people who cant build engines buy crate motors....lol real hotrodders build their own engines ..... and dont pay people to build their engines or cars...
305 motors are just small bore 350's... well people that say that 305 or 350 are a waste of time dont know enough about engines to be talking.. i have seen a 636HP 305 in a chevy 1/2ton that ran 12.90's in a 1/4.. anything is possible.. check out my profile.. just added vid of my big block
@thevettedude66 no please leave the z06 alone. Z06s are balanced track machines. i hope chevy just puts such TT monsters in hopped up camaros. no point in putting so much power that you cannot put it to the ground. But camaros are optimum market for that. :)
I just ordered one of these for my project car which is a 1985 Z28 Camaro had a blown motor and got it for cheap. I am going to strip it out and beef that bad boy up and see what it can do. I can't wait to get it in.
Throw it in the trash and swap an LS based motor. Not kidding. You could always beef up the internals/fuel system and throw a ton of boost at it like some guys do, but trust me, you'll love an LS motor.
Cast Iron is for boosted engines I like the LS-7 but I heard they drop valves and grenade .. I also like the new LS-1 but not sure if I can put a bigger cam in it do to variable cam timing .. I want to use a Haltech Computer and run it on an E-85 MIX You can buy a GM crate Motor a lot cheaper than you can build a motor with all new aftermarket pieces.. I also like the dry sump system of the LS-7 .. I like the Tremac 6 speed manual but don't think I can get Rev matching software like the LTI-LE has .. had to get answers on technical issues..
Glad he can read the brochure.. prolly warped the crank laying it flat like that... at least hector is going legit... he is going to be running 3 Honda civics with spoon engines... I'm top of that he just came into harrys and order 3 t66 turbos...
@levisnteeshirt i cant disagree with that. they had to make it the 454ci that was the goal. i like the motor but i think for the price i will build my own version. i will build my aluminum ls2 to about 408ci with afr heads, fast lsrt intake, comp cam and make just as much power if not more. you can re sleeve the ls2 to accept 454 cubic inches. chevy magizine just did it.lol
I'm a die hard Chevy guy, but this motor transplanted in a Shelby Cobra or a Cobra kit car would be one hell of a machine! Hope to see that one day... or better, create that one day!
That would be sweeeet! If it's a 1970 or later, bore it out an extra cubic inch to 455 c.i. like the super duties from back in the day! Traditional GM heritage!
When was the last time someone put a 5.0 or a 5.8 for that matter in a Chevy? I didn't think so....now lets count how many Fords have GM engines.

good GOD! almighty so much greatness coming out of GM
would you rather they laid off the masses of "Tax payers" they employee ? BTW GM paid back the money they borrowed from the Government so you can kindly kill that 2008 argument already. I bet you voted for Trump too.
I'd rather have the lq9 6.0 out of the H2 hummer with a lunati 581/588 roller cam ,springs and a procharger.

How much is it?
my lsx 454 block had thin cylinder walls. DANGER! my lsx454 has a defective thin casting.
@drizzetsrevenge Im just reading this and saw your question.... but to get a Doctorate in automotive, well one way is to get a PHD in engineering. Im pretty sure thats what he has. sounds cool though dont it?
7000++ RPM god damn
What would it take to make this street legal???
I believe the block can take over 1000hp. As it sits. I think that was the original point of the lsx, the trick ass engine block. Everything else is simply extra lol. :-)
@syfe45
No, the LSX is a better motor. A lot better if you plan to force feed it.
My friend has an ls1 camaro that is procharged making 18lbs of boost and when they dynoed it the head lifted off the block lol
Mmm 454...
way too much money for a mesely 620 hp.. you could build a 454 or LS1 (BOTH W/CARBS) for the same price and get more then that in horse power. either way it just looks cool.

only 11 grand!
@704Ch3vyBoi eh, disagreable.
God I'd love to put this in my 03 silverado ss
William Sexton that would be a great idea towing and all around prolly get better mpgs if you could keep your foot out of it lol
TURBO v8s = no more Fast N furious movies!!!! :)
100mm turbo np!
6 seconds capable
injector bungs, fucking awesome!
I'd just like something easy to get that I can drop this into!
Dont bother , build your own , mostcexpensive piece of sh!@ ive ever purchased
@prostreetbuyer I purchased the lq9 6.0 better block. you can turn it into 421 stroker. jegs sells the kit for around 2300 bucks.
i build these for a living, there solid engines. and chvyboi this is in the ls engine family
305 motors are just small bore 350's... well people that say that 305 or 350 are a waste of time dont know enough about engines to be talking.. i have seen a 636HP 305 in a chevy 1/2ton that ran 12.90's in a 1/4..

I wonder if I dialed back the HP would I be able to get 30mpg....muahahahaha!!
Would this fir under 69 camaro hood
You know where most of that money is?, the cost of the LSX block!, mutha is expensive
Is the Ls7better the Lsx Sombody tell me

We don't care if your a doctor. Just tell us about the engine.
Throw it in the trash and swap an LS based motor. Not kidding. You could always beef up the internals/fuel system and throw a ton of boost at it like some guys do, but trust me, you'll love an LS motor.

Man if I could put this in my 4th gen... It'd become a nitrous fed monster straight from the basement of GM hell lol.
The GMPP LSX block comes from the factory with a 3.860" bore, and can be bored to a max of 4.250!
@levisnteeshirt yea but that would of been a lil to radical for them. thats what the aftermarket companys are doin.
@704Ch3vyBoi 427 tri power. Imagine one of those things with all the new technology. 750-800 horsepower probably isn't out of the question
Junk!
620hp? More than that, I’d say. (620 rear wheel, maybe)
Doctor? How do I get my doctrine in automotive?
Before that happened with the wheels slipping on the dyno it was like 700hp
@prostreetbuyer how much power did you put into it before tht happened??
they magnacharged a LSX on 101 octane 15.5 boost and made 950hp!
@levisnteeshirt the lsx block is capable of holding 2000hp.
20grand out the door. Great motors, just not for my budget lol.
i dont have anything to put one in but i still want on lol
he's like a grown up version of the kid that was in hancock
How could i build an lsx 454 to be a super high revver???
best engine GM came out with since ls series family
but well worth every penny!
Will it fit in my Achieva?
What mods recommend for a 231 v6 buick?
yea that would be one hellva engine
@simracr94 so what would u suggest?
what is the cost of the LSX 454?
@calgrizz52 thank you!!
I WANT ONE!
DAT CAM
whats the tube sticking out under the front of the intake
+SPEEDKILS galley plate breather connection. usually hooked up to the PCV system
I'm a die hard Chevy guy, but this motor transplanted in a Shelby Cobra or a Cobra kit car would be one hell of a machine! Hope to see that one day... or better, create that one day!

syfe45™ no way is an ls7 better. It’s a weak block
