I was lucky enough to play a game with Rusty at bggcon spring and he did a really great teach of Faraway. Though after driving through flash floods and and working earlier that day I was so tired I didn't realize it was him. :)
Thanks for another great episode! I tried this at UKGE this year, I didn't get to play a full game though, but it seems like a nice, lightweight game with a fun art style!
If Deborah had played it like she suggested at the end (water square separating grass areas), she would still have gotten the points for 7+ grass squares plus the 3 for the garden. It would have just been icing on the winning cake!
hmm interesting game - the school seems a little weird to me... like its straight up worse than just putting inhabitants on the gears - unless you have a farm... with a farm, schools suddenly become really powerful, because they are easy to build and then generate -2 points for a neighbour and +2 for you (assuming that you keep your neighbours low with the junk) and a 4 point differential from 2 slots seems pretty strong (given that the garden is tricky to do and gives 3 points for 2 spaces) i suspect theres a lot more tricky combinations like that in the game PS: ahhh i completely missed that each building also has base points, not just their bonus effect - that changes the equation quite a bit^^
I also thought it felt like Kingdomino, but I like it a bit more than KD so far (I have both pegged as 7's). My interest largely stems from it being designed more specifically for "Target Shoppers" than most other games are (that's my own read on the game, though Eric Lang tweeted a bit about his goals with the design but I mostly forgot what he talked about), so rulebook design and components were what I was largely interested in. But I like the buildings, I like how terrain scoring is just "is it 7+ spaces large yes/no?", and I like how it doesn't have Kingdomino's turn order mechanic because while it is great, I think having basic circular turn order is better for more relaxed games like Reterra.
I really love Rusty's teaching style, could listen to him for hours. 😊
Also: Deborah, yay!!! 🙂

it also helps that rusty has a great way of speaking - its that jolly grandpa who tells you stories... and you just want to hear more =)
I see Deborah, I just leave a like without thinking. Now, let's watch.
❤❤❤
Nice to see Deborah again. Thanks for another great gameplay.

I said "Rarities" to myself right before Deborah did :)
Such a great show, so bummed it didn't get a second season

That was FUN!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like a great game!

I hope they do an episode playing Fallout atomic bonds!!!
Deborah, it's a family show not a Deadpool movie! 😂
damn early whow!
Didn't understand the scoring at all. The game looked a bit bland and a bit of a kingdomino clone with a little added complexity.
